Grand Rapids, MI: Maggie’s Kitchen
This little gem is located at 636 Bridge St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. They do dine in and carry out, and they make some of the best Mexican style dishes you will ever have. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and even breakfast can be found here. While closed on Sunday and at 3 PM, they open at 9am Monday - Saturday.
You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. The chorizo is delicious if you want a little breakfast, but the best of their excellent menu are the tacos and burritos. Chicken, beef, and pork are your choices here, and I suggest going with the pork. They have two styles: Puerco En Salsa Roja, which is braised in a spicy red chili sauce, and Puerco En Salsa Verde, which is braised in a less spicy tomatillo sauce.
My goto most days is the Salsa Verde tacos in fresh made corn tortillas,
but when I am particularly hungry, I order the Salsa Roja burrito.
Both are stuffed with rice and beans, and are filling and delicious served traditional style, which is without cheese, lettuce, and tomato. However, you can have them added if you wish.
Either option will get you out the door for less than $10, and you will be satisfied for the rest of the day. They do a lot of lunch orders for the local businesses and workers, so they are happy to see someone walk in alone or with a group.
Give it a try, and you’ll have something to tell your friends and coworkers about.
