I hosted a fundraiser dinner, with huge help from my moms and grandparents. And boy, what a success! We were only expecting to raise about $400, but we ended up getting about $800! I am so fortunate to have such a supportive community.

Q&A
1. Who are you? Why do you want to go abroad with AFS? I’m Kelley Rose, an 18 year old raised in Montana; I want to experience a different culture, meet new people, and gain experiences.
2.What do you expect to gain from the experience? How/what will you give in return? I except to gain more worldly knowledge, and get to know myself better. I hope really find myself through the journeys’ of international travel. In return, I will spread as much love and acceptance I can. I will soak up every second and every lesson I learn from being abroad. After my year abroad I would also love to be an AFS volunteer, and help other young adults be able to go overseas.
3. Briefly, why do you need help with financing your AFS experience? I’m doing what I can to raise as much money as possible. My family is financially troubled, but is doing everything they can to help my AFS dreams come true.
4. What have you already done, and what are you planning to do, to contribute to your fundraising efforts. I have applied for several scholarships, and will be auditioning for another two in May. I also have a date set in the Spring for a dinner fundraiser at my Grandmother’s church. I will continue to apply for more scholarships that my school counselor is helping me find. 5. What is the Sponsor an AFSer program? This is an online fundraising tool provided by AFS to allow potential sponsors to make easy, secure, and non tax-deductible contributions to my AFS program fee.
