Lloyd and I have been developing an AU in the Outlast setting for Ian and Hal because it’s fun to explore new AUs for them. Gonna put it under a cut due to the sensitive nature of Outlast and the general nature of the fact that Ian and Hal were both patients in this universe. So yeah ffffff
Mild warnings for mention of self-mutilation under there too.
OKAY SO Outlast AU is still being fleshed out but the basics you need to known are:
Ian is suffering from some kind of disorder which comes with severe delusions- he’s under the incredibly powerful belief he is actually an android. Which is fine and all, except the people he was around most often didn’t believe him- and he ended up severing his own arm so they could see that he wasn’t human. Obviously didn’t work quite as planned, and Ian was checked in once he recovered and then shit went to hell in the asylum!
He somehow bonded with Hal during this, and the two stay mostly isolated. Ian has a habit of trying to “replace” his arm (still believing he’s an android)- usually by ducttaping sticks or deceased patient’s arms onto his stump.
Worth noting that whatever happened to him there, he seems to have a weirdly calming effect on other patients, including some of the more dangerous ones, which tends to keep him safe. Whether or not this is because they buy into his claims to be nonhuman or not is unclear.

I just realized I don’t talk a lot about Ian on my main blog at all??? So I am going to publish this for everyone because Ian is literally my favorite OC and it’s no fair that I just ramble about Mehen the big stupid crocodile over here. Mehen is cool too, but Ian is The Best.
Ian’s pre-history (IE: Concept Stage) goes something like this (heavily paraphrased from memory):
Lloyd: -gets a cool looking dude from his friend and shows him off and mentions ideas for him in the Fallout universe-
Me: HEY HE’S AWESOME I should make a dude to go with him, lets have a duo.
Lloyd: Yes! Let’s do it!
Me: WHAT IF HE had a really grumpy android buddy, who smoked a lot.And then Ian proceeded to be the exact opposite of grumpy, and basically never smoked in rps ever- just in like four pieces of art. I seriously need to remember he’s supposed to smoke a lot because HIS BLOG IS CALLED CHAINSMOKINGANDROID misleading title much?
YEAH SO ANYWAYS SHOVING IAN’S HISTORY OF HISTORIES UNDER A READMORE BECAUSE I DON’T WANNA WORDVOMIT TOO LONG ON EVERYONE’S DASHES AS MUCH AS I THINK IAN IS AWESOME ffffff
Ian’s history goes a little something like this: He was created in the Commonwealth as one of the early Scout model androids- his job was to patrol outside the city and eliminate any threats. Basically he was killing hostile wildlife. His creator, a man named Persia Forge, built the Scout line intentionally with adaptive AI- so it would develop over time into an independent personality, resulting in a lot of Scouts realizing they were basically enslaved and fleeing the Commonwealth. Ian was one of them.
During his escape a Hunter cornered him and tore his arm off but he managed to flee in the confusion over that and escaped off into the sunset, never to be seen again…
Except y’know, obviously he was seen again several times. Sometime after that he hires himself a bodyguard, someone to deter the Commonwealth hunters coming after him- this man was a surly addict named Hal. They traveled together and mostly Hal was grumpy and needed chems, and Ian was fearful that androids were gonna come shut him down and force him back into robotic slavery basically. Time passes, and he opens up more and bonds closely with Hal and the two become close friends. He reveals the truth about why he needed a bodyguard to Hal, and Hal reveals he’s a mechanic and keeps Ian from totally shutting down.
TIME PASSES FURTHER and Ian and Hal end up in Rivet City for awhile. Hal’s douchebag ex-friend Monte from back when Hal was with a group of slavers shows up and reveals Hal’s past to Ian, and makes Hal believe Ian is going to leave him. Ian gets the truth from Hal, and insists he has no interest in leaving him. He’s happy to leave Hal’s past in the past because he cares about him. They smooch and have some conversations about sex and somewhere around here figure out they love eachother and become a couple. It’s fucking adorable. This happened sometime around Rivet City but not IN it.
MORE STUFF HAPPENS Harkness almost kills Hal because he thinks he’s a douche [spoiler alert, they’re both douches, but Hal is a loveable douche] and Ian gets Hal (who is a Cyborg, forgot to mention that) fixed. I think somewhere around here is where Jace and Artemis attack and almost catch Ian, I’m not 100% sure what we on with that WHOOPS.
They leave Rivet City and head for the Mojave because life’s good in Vegas. Or something, idk.
THEY TRAVEL AND TRAVEL And Ian tries to convince Hal to quite the chems and Hal gets really depressed and almost kills himself it’s a tragedy. From there Ian is attacked by another Hunter and seriously broken. He admits he needs help, and Hal seeks out help- finding it in the form of Dalton (my Courier).
Also at some point after they meet Dalton and move temporarily into the 38 while she figures out how to 100% fix Ian, Ian reveals he’s really awesome at blowjobs because he was friends with a sexbot back in the Commonwealth. This isn’t relevant to his history really but it’s awesome.
Since then Ian has also been adapted into several AUs but I didn’t describe those in detail because well y’know…I don’t wanna ramble forever. I can talk about those too though if there’s interest. His developed AUs are an animal one, tf2, borderlands and outlast. I’m working on an Aliens-universe AU and several others (resident evil, the walking dead, metal gear, vampire the masquerade etc) that I’m cool with questions on too ;w;

i admire them from a distance. i have no patience with kids though they seem to like me so when i am forced into a flock of youths i attempt to be nice and then collapse after roughly 10 minutes of interaction.

when i was in kindergarten i managed to convince the entire class that i was from a rich family descended from royalty and that i was somehow older than all of them and that i watched r-rated movies everyday and that i could talk to insects. i was a weird kid.
