Merlin had to do so much backdoor hacking and cover ups and more backdoor hacking and then finally, finally bribing the Scribe in order to get ahold of Seraphim’s original file that he would have to slide back under the archives door after he was done with it.
"Merlin, you're bleeding." Harry sounded more bored than concerned at the blood staining the tech wizard’s white cuff.
He had ripped into the reinforced envelope a little too urgently and now his palm was stinging, blood running down his thumb that he simply wiped on a napkin from lunch.
"M’fine. Oh, here. Scribe had a buy one get one deal goin', thought ye might like a peek." Hamish slid a similar folder across the table before tucking into the file.

Restrictions: Agent is extremely sacrificial. Send on partner and rescue missions sparingly. Do not permit Kingsman Agent Merlin to accompany on mission. Absolutely no contact with Former Agent Enoch is permitted, all files and transmissions regarding said agent is to be kept away from Agent Seraphim. No longer The Hill’s Envoy due to an increased risk of mental instability and incidents (see medical and mission files).
Then came mission counts. Family. Skills. And then history. Hamish smiled a bit and rubbed a thumb across a Polaroid of Morgan as a child in front of a lake, she hadn't really taken him to meet her family so the personal history bit was the part he had been looking forward to. Taking snapshots of the pages with his glasses to add to his own file that he had been compiling of his wife.
"Don't you think this is a little wrong?" Harry said, but his fingers had already opened up the manila folder with the faded name of Clementine on it.
"It's jus’ a file. They’ll never know"
Childhood medical records and incident reports of accidental witchcraft followed by her forced induction into a Christian sanitarium by her parents, but the priests there transferred her to the Exorcists Academy instead and- despite being one of the only females, had graduated at the top of her class. An enormous accomplishment that immediately put her on Lilith’s radar.
Then came her early Roanoke files. All cosigned by a Jon Constantine, Merlin's brow knitted together- had Morgan mentioned that name? If he was her mentor why hadn't she spoken of him? Lilith's notes during Seraphim’s examinations and finally testing were next:
"Sacrificial. Self worth is lacking, but loyalty is not. Exorcism skills are exceptional, maybe even surpassing that of Constantine, but her face is shakey, Jon will help with that. Giving her the code name Seraphim, because she's like an army of angels on the field.'
Hamish left a smear of blood on the corner of that page as he felt a swell of pride at his wife’s hard work in Roanoke through the years.
Harry's experience was very different.
"How's it going over there Hart?"
"Rae has a criminal record? It's...pages? She has a rap sheet as long as my arm, what on Earth..?"
"Morgan, was admitted to a Christian sanitorium before she went to academy."
Soon it came to top secret and normally redacted missions that had been assigned to her... and injuries. Seeing the fully body medical sheets and pictures of the injuries made Merlin wince. Teeth marks along the entire side from a frightened and rabid werewolf, defensive marks from a possessed child that had clawed her down to the bone, and so many bruises. Burns from a tentacle that had wrapped around her leg in Silent Hill.
God The Hills files. Agent Seraphim: Hills Envoy. Is what it had said in her stats, but all the pictures of it, the audio file transmissions- He didn't need to take photos of those pages to have the images seared into his mind.
And There were video files? A list of codes to type into the Roanoke data base to see them. They were worse. Some were training videos, Seraphim trying out new techniques with a tall, lanky black haired man that Hamish assumed to be Enoch. It was The Hills videos that had him shaking, how many times had he and Harry snickered behind their backs whenever the two Roanoke agents came back voicing exhausting and shaking. How many times had he rolled his eyes whenever she refused to get out of bed or turn off the lights for days?
How many times had he thought she was just a little Christian girl playing at being a spy and an exorcist?
“I’m not a CIA agent. I’m just a regular American who was screwed out of his vacation, dumped in a plane, and brought to this place. Without any breakfast.”
