At the moment, I'm questioning why he was getting trashed right after finding a very important clue. I feel like that would be a good time to take action. If I'm remembering correctly and putting things together correctly, I think this was when he was feeling really conflicted about whether he should be hunting down the boys or helping them. It was right before he went into the confessional. He looks very nice here, despite the knowledge that he's about to topple over drunk.
