I didn’t have much hope for this one–horrible label, clearly mass-produced and rather inexpensive–but it is not *horrible*. Salvatore Molettieri’s Taurasi Riserva Vigna Cinque Querce 2007 From Montemarano (upper Taurasi, clay soil with some limestone) Eye: indigo with a ruby nuance. Nose: fruit (black currant and red cherry), vegetal (laurel), spicy (black pepper). Palate:even greater complexity. The dominant fruity flavor is red cherry, black pepper even more evident, tobacco as much as the balsamic notes, earthy. Big structure anyway you feel a fine texture. The finish is awesome, deep and vertical, very persistent retronasal red cherry aroma. Fantastic! 🇮🇹

Taking a moment to contemplate this awesome vino. Smells a bit like a Bordeaux on the nose but there’s still a little something different - cassis, tobacco, black cherries, leather, vanilla, espresso, and cocoa. Cassis and blackberries on the palate with tobacco, leather, vanilla, pencil lead, and espresso. Yum!
