Agravaine the aggravating added 2 & 2 and got 22.
Wtf my dude?
Morgana is Uther’s daughter too? But she DOESN’T have the relation to Ygraine like Arthur does???
It’s also the most normal thing in the world for women to die in childbirth??? Especially in 500 something when this is taking place???
Why do you hate your nephew this much????
Honestly Agrivaine’s existence has ruined multiple days of my life
The rest of the Orkneys!! (and also Morgan because why not)
Also if it wasn't clear, I have a real soft spot for Gaheris, don't judge me
Here’s the thing.
Agrivaine loves Mordred.
I mean, Agrivane loves all his family, of course, but most of his family doesn’t really understand or particularly like him. But Mordred appreciates him. Mordred, like Agrivane, is an outsider in the Orkney family due to his parentage and his having been raised away from the family. He’s seen the ugly side of things and the weakness of the nobility. He’s not in awe of Gawain and Garis and Gaharis like so many people are and doesn’t want to live in their shows anymore than Agrivane does. Agrivane would fight an entire kingdom for his little brother and against anyone who questions his legitimacy because he never wants Mordred to feel like a bastard.
The Labors of Agrivaine
Agrivaine had never been the favorite child, not anyone’s. How could she be when there was perfect Gawain to compete with, or Garis and Gaharis? She wasn’t the heir to the throne, and was never the princess anyone had hoped, but as Morgause’s daughter, did they ever expect anything less? What is the daughter of a witch but a witch herself?
Despite this, Agrivaine loves her family and her country more than anything, and when she accidentally discovered her baby brother Mordred was a child of an incestuous affair between her mother and King Arthur she was willing to keep her mouth shut for the sake of her brother. She thought it was in the past. But then she walked in on Morgause in bed with a knight- clearly, it had been happening for a long time. Agrivaine was furious and drew her sword. Her mother died there, the knight ended up in the hospital.
That night, Agrivaine and her immediate family sat down for a long talk. Agrivaine told them all what she had seen and what she knew, and her father was quiet for a very long time. Her brothers were furious with her, with her mother, with the knight- many hurtful things were said. But when the dust settled, King Lot felt much the same way that Agrivaine did. Agrivaine had done wrong, but she had done it to spare her father the shame of having to execute her mother publically for treason and the family having to disown Mordred and the country question the legitimacy of all the children. It was a mess, but a mess for the sake of saving them. So King Lot ordered Agrivaine to appear in the throne room tomorrow and officially confess. Her brothers would appear for ceremony. The king would be stern, he had to be, but merciful as much as he could be. Agrivaine would be removed from the line of succession (as would Mordred, quietly) and banished until she could find a king or noble who would allow her to serve in their court for ten years, at which point she could return home.
And so Agrivaine packed, and left on her favorite horse, looking for a king to serve.
Agrivaine moved like she had been born in the saddle.
It didn’t matter if she was side-saddle, astride, or bareback, she was more than comfortable, moving like water over the cliff base of Orkney. She loved the warhorses best, the beasts that sometimes doubled as draft horses in peacetime, even if she looked more like a child than a warrior perched on the back of those giants. Finally coming to a stop to rest her mount near a clear pool, Agrivaine slipped down from the horse’s back and unbridled it carefully.
“The grass here is long and sweet. You’ll like this place.”
the thing I hate the most about agravaine is that he makes arthur doubt himself and the quality of ruling when all he ever does is try to do the right thing
