"I didn't think I'd ever see you again, Zai."
Zailia wondered when Ildriel would track her down, as it was only a matter of time... Then it all went black.
Ildriel was Bhaal's tracker. Smart, quick, observant and damned stubborn. However, no one saw the day Zailia would slip away, making him question everything.
He had sworn up and down that Enver cheating on her with him was never, ever her fault, and she did nothing wrong. He was blinded by jealousy. She had Enver and was Bhaal's chosen, and he didn't have either those or her affection, which he desperately wanted.
But Bhaal clearly favoured Zailia. But Enver was an easy man when offered something new and shiny.
While Enver could barely look at her when the three of them arrived at Moonrise for the first time, Ildriel had realized he wasn't jealous of Zailia; he was jealous of Enver, but he also wanted him, too.
If Orin hadn't kidnapped her and sent her away in sacrifice to the Absolute, maybe things would have been different. Maybe it would have gone his way.
He wished he knew how desperately everyone missed her. Well, except for Orin, but did that matter when she had so much favour?
The old Zailia was wild, bloodthirsty, a killer and somehow bright and dark at the same time.
Now? She's unrecognizable. Her memories are gone. But at least she remembered him, somewhat. She doesn't want to kill anyone and wants to live her new life, barely knowing what she had before. She has new friends. She's found someone else to love.
And it hurt.
What would it take to convince her to come back?
But it was wishful thinking with the way the pale Elf looked at her, and glared at him.

🎲 after all what's a kiss between the homies am I right?
🎲 4 - A kiss to the top of the head
The boat tipped them in a slow, rocking motion, side to side, like a parent's embrace, and if it were not for their circumstances it might have been soothing, might have been reassuring to have seen the coast of that foul island disappear beneath the mist at their rear.
Her steps creaked on the deck planks as she picked her way across, path guided not merely by one set of flaming red hair, but two.
Gently, she settled herself atop a barrel at his side, not saying anything - what could she say? Lyn understood the loss of a parent, and moreso the acute and jagged tear of the knife to have them taken before one's very eyes, and so she understood just as well that there was nothing she could say in this moment that could reach him, nothing that could break through the dull fog that wrapped around him and trapped Eliwood for the time being in the Dread Isle of his own mind.
Better, she thought, to stay by his side, an unflappable presence in spite of the curdling rage she felt in her gut. It wasn't what he needed right now, to hear her spit venom at Nergal, at those Black Fangs of his who had taken so much from them. No, what he needed right now was the reminder that he was not alone, no matter how much the dark threatened to overtake him.
Faintly, she heard the sounds of conversation at their backs, and knew well enough in time that she would be called for, but it could wait. It could wait, at least, until the sun rose from that dark horizon, until the new day had come and they all had firm land beneath their feet.
A hand reached over, hesitant at first, to grip his shoulder - and without a word, Lyn leaned her weight over to press her lips, affectionate and warm, to the crown of his head.
Just as her father had done for her, all those years ago.
