modern au childhood friends with columbina would be an.... experience
as children, you share everything with her without a peep of complaint spilling past your lips. you gave everything she wanted with no questions asked, just giving a toothy grin before you shoved your beloved plushies into her awaiting arms. during recess, a simple glance on your lollipop is enough for you to pop it out of your mouth and passing it on to her awaiting fingers. your packed lunch becomes hers in everything but name, and your coloring materials are meant to accommodate columbina.
while time flows mercilessly, you stop sharing crayons and coloring books as they're no longer needed, but the habit still carries on.
a single pack of cotton pads is divided into two, a popsicle stick is broken into halves, notes accumulated from different classes passed between you and her, and extra blankets are lent to her whenever she stays over at your room. it's instinctual at this point, mind moving on autopilot as you hand off the next item of yours that columbina wishes to partly own, and it's never bothered you. what's yours is hers, and what's hers is yours.
that is, until she starts to borrow your makeup and wardrobe.
it's fine, obviously. columbina is your best friend, so you don't think anything of it when she asks for your eyeshadow, lip liner, lash curler, and that one top you wore a few weeks ago. you just blink, shrug, and wordlessly agree.
when she shows off the finished look of her makeup, it resembles the usual style of makeup that you always do. so you smile and praise her, happy at the thought of your childhood friend adopting some of your traits.
as everything else with columbina, it escalates.
your favorite clothing items disappear between intervals, only to show up in her closet.
it's fine, you tell yourself. this is fine, columbina just likes the same things you like. nothing wrong with that. you see her in class that day, jokingly remarking at her using your clothes, and you two share a good laugh off of it. you even notice her new makeup style has been perfected to a T, eyeliner and blush done the exact same way as yours.
nothing weird. nothing wrong with it.
but then she shows up to class the following day, hair newly cut to the exact same length of your own. and it's come to a point where you can no longer brush off her obsession with everything that you own and have.
