Ok some thoughts on what might happen next season now that I’ve had a shower a minute to recover from that.
I don’t think Ahsoka is ever gonna make it home.
I think Baylan IS trying to destroy the force, the cyclical thing that keeps causing turmoil in the galaxy and in his life, for better or worse, since we see him standing by the statues of the Father and the Brother, the literal representations of the balance and dark side of the force respectively.
The Sister’s statue is very notably missing/destroyed.
I have a bad feeling that by the end of next season, Filloni is going to pull an Avatar the Last Airbender a la Princess Yue on us and have Ahsoka sacrifice herself to become the essence of the light side of the force to maintain this balance.
She’s already been toted as being the symbolic Sister/light side to Anakin’s Brother/dark side since her first death and tangle with the Mortis gods, and hell her name was originally supposed to be Ashla which has since been given as a name for the light side by the Lasat people. Not to mention the Sister gave her life to save Ahsoka’s and has been by her side as Moroi ever since. Maybe it’s time for her to give that life force back?
Then there’s Anakin’s force ghost, who while he seemed proud of Ahsoka in that last shot, also seemed sad. Now force ghost Anakin probably has a few things to be sad about but what if he knows what’s in store for Ahsoka and knows it’s not necessarily a happy ending? Or the force knows it’s in danger and is using Anakin as a way to direct Ahsoka to the path she needs to be on to protect it even at the cost of her own life?
Also I feel like Filloni has been hinting at Ahsoka’s death for a while and says he already knows what he thinks will happen and Rosario seems like she might be in the know.
I predict next season we’re going to have split plot lines of Ezra and Hera dealing with Thrawn and of Ahsoka and Sabine trying to stop Baylan from destroying the force.
Tbh I kind of hope I’m wrong cause I really don’t want to see Ahsoka go but thematically it does feel like a fitting end. This is of course assuming the plot for next season hasn’t had to been drastically changed following Ray Stevenson’s death
