Niragi and Chishiya are both horribly touch starved, and it shows itself negatively in two very different ways through them.
(HEADCANON PLS DONT KILL ME!)
Chishiya despises touch, avoiding it at all cost and flinching like he’s been burnt when someone’s skin so much as brushes his shoulder. His parents never had time to hold him- or rather never made time to hold him -and that was fine. It caused this… unfortunate quirk of his psyche, but that was fine. It was something to be stifled and coped with.
Niragi seeks touch like a moth chasing flame. His childhood was violent and neglectful, and thus he never received the type of touch needed by a child or young adult. He tries to drown the horrible, incessant, all consuming need to hold and be held through any form of contact with others he can justify. Niragi bruises his knuckles from shattering another man’s cheekbone and it feels like a wonderful little reminder that for that small second, he had felt another person in this swirling, shit storm of a world. He fucks a faceless, nameless, girl in an empty room in beach and he feels the ache subside, if only for the moment.
Still though, Niragi feels empty. These indulgences are temporary mimics of the intimacy he craves just as much as the physical touch. He can eat until he is near bursting, and feast until he is sick from the pleasures of the flesh, but not until he is satisfied.
Chishiya doesn’t bother with the distractions of physical touch, and puts up a front. One day, Chishiya makes an error. Rare, but deadly. He enters a game and comes out with a bleeding gash across the back of his left calf. He’s a doctor (or at least almost one) and thus knows how to treat it. But even with stitches and disinfectant, the pain sticks around. Chishiya limps his way to his hotel room, and is horrified when he hears Kuina sidle up next to him and offer to help him walk. For the first time in their… alliance (not friendship, because Chishiya doesn’t DO friends) Chishiya shows genuine anger. It’s not the explosive anger of someone reaching their limit, nor is it the anger of someone who has held in their rage for a lifetime. No, it’s the sharp, lashing anger of an animal trapped in a cage. It’s fear, when you pull back its snarling mask and look it in the eyes. Fear of being touched, of feeling, of being held. A fear that bested him in that moment.
Either way, Kuina knows better than to let herself be treated like a verbal punching bag, and tells Chishiya to find her when he’s only his usual amount of asshole.
So when Chishiya and Niragi begin their fling (affair, manipulation, power struggle, or whatever you might call it) it feels like two hurricanes clashing. Polar opposites with identical grievances. Two sides of the same, hurting, dangerous, corrupt coin.
The world implodes, and they spend their time together finding new ways to hurt each other, and neither of them have ever felt so full. There is an emphasis on the STARVED part of touch starved, and Chishiya and Niragi are famished.
They are not good for each other. They find the others most vulnerable scars and pick them open before leaving to let them bleed out alone, but they are at their core two tired souls searching for a way to be held. And sure their smiles have daggers, and their souls seem an inch more rotten than before each time they met, but together they find themselves held.
♤ headcanon that… when Usagi took care of Arisu after the seven of hearts game, she often admired Arisu in his solitude. taking care of his wounds, checking his temperature, and whispering affirmations as he slept in any attempt to comfort him without him knowing. when she left to hunt that morning she caught extra game for him and picked spices she might have thought otherwise unnecessary to somehow comfort Arisu.
♡ headcanon that… Usagi’s first impression of Arisu, Karube, and Chota was that they would not survive much longer. she is used to losing people and though she did admire Arisu at first glance, she figured it would be better for her to remain closed off and not get attached. when Arisu demonstrated his kind heart in the “tag” game, she decided to take a chance, despite her trauma associated with losing people in her life.
♢ headcanon that… Usagi didn’t find Arisu by chance after the hearts game. she actually had been keeping tabs on him after their first game together trying to decide whether he was worth letting her guard down for, little did she know she was already letting down her guard.
♧ headcanon that… Arisu loves Usagi’s haircut. he loves that he can see the nape of her neck when she walks in front of him. he thinks her posture is one of her best qualities because she holds herself with confidence and high self worth, something he’s always admired in her.
♤ headcanon that… Arisu and Usagi spent one night at The Beach before deciding to just stay back at their original base. not because they felt unsafe, but because Hatter had given them one room to share. Arisu insisted he would sleep on the floor, but Usagi insisted he needed well rest to recover for their next game. that night consisted of three times awkwardly rolling over and making eye contact, Arisu holding his breath to not show Usagi how tense he was from the idea of sharing a bed with her, and little to no sleep. they both agreed the next morning to sleep back at their base.

How they react when they make you laugh for the first time since arriving in Borderland.
Chishiya, Ann, Kuina and Niragi.
i really really love writing for aib, and i really really want to marry ann.
warnings: this is mostly fluff but jealousy and threats are included (would it even be niragi if this wasn’t the case?)

Chishiya
Chishiya would be puzzled. Hearing your laugh ring through the Beach’s hallway from beside him when hardly much had happened-- What suddenly brought that out of you? You, who hadn’t so much as smirked once since arriving in the Borderlands?
He wouldn’t stop walking until you’d finally keeled over, resting against the wall in your laughter, and he’d simply stand there and watch you, tempted to give into the smirk that pulls at the corner of his lips. Ah yes, that laugh is contagious, but it’d only properly catch on when he realises it’s his own words that brought it out of you.
Gasping words out through your bursts of laughter, not paying half a mind to the bikini-clad girls that spared you judgemental glances as you try to communicate what exactly of Chishiya’s words tickled you so-- But it’d barely come out clear enough to make sense.
But it wouldn’t matter. He’d finally give into the tickle inside his own chest, the softest laugh of humour bubbling out as he stands there, hands in his pockets and tender eyes on your giggling form. It’s the first time since arriving that he’s seen you like this, and what a sight to behold.
Ann
Ann isn’t phased by much, but your sudden laughter gracing her ears would startle her. She’d jump, hair swishing out of that perfect positioning when she turns to look at you. She’d think there’s something wrong at first, scan the area to see what might’ve possibly brought you to this, wonder if perhaps Borderland has finally taken its toll on you. She’s heard plenty of stories of psychosis manifesting in laughter from her work life, but this… Doesn’t seem to be the case.
She’d ask what was up, ask if you’re feeling okay, hold your face still to feel your forehead for a temperature. This, however, would only bring out more bubbling laughter as you tuck her hair behind her ear again, back where it belongs.
“You’re so funny, Ann,” you’d say, “And you don’t even realise.”
She’d blink. No, she’s never been considered the funny type.
It’s not until you describe to her that it’s purely because she’s so serious, so endearing, that you couldn’t help yourself. Perhaps things really were catching up to you, and you finally let up on all the pressures from the games. Hell, you were gonna die anyway. Why not share laughter when your love is this morbidly endearing in her antics?
Kuina
Kuina would have missed your laughter. She’d struggle with your newly introverted self, noticing how all the games have worn you down in the weeks of being here, and it’s not until one time that you get a little bit too drunk a little bit too quickly in the Beach’s nightclub that you’d finally be able to spill your sense of humour all over her again.
It would be the silliest of things; Kuina’s reaction to a guy hitting on her or an animated fall on the dancefloor that you’d just so happened to witness, but it would shock your body with waves and waves of giggles.
Kuina’s reaction would be instant. Her face would light up, teeth showing and eyes shining as she drank in the sight of you losing control of your body, weak at the knees and relying on Kuina’s arm around your middle to keep you up. Soon, the pair of you would be creasing with tears in your eyes, and she’s definitely the type that lightly hits whoever happens to be in her reach as she cackles. Afterwards, the air around you would be drastically lighter. She’d be thrilled to have you back.
Niragi
Niragi would be suspicious of your laughter. He’d stare at you with a brow and corner of his lips raised, practically with a question mark over his head as he eyes you. He’d demand to know what’s so funny, what’s suddenly happened to you-- but on hearing that he’d just said something in such a way that struck you funny, he’d guffaw in dismissal. Though, hidden inside, his chest would swell with pride and a curl would remain on his lips for a long while after, throwing out certain remarks to try and catch you in a giggle fit once more. Every time it works, a strange glow of acceptance would find a home in his chest.
If, god forbid, anyone else had been the first to make you laugh, he’d want their head on a plate. And you know he’d have it, too, unless it were Chishiya. Perhaps Chishiya’s eyeroll to something Niragi had said would set you off, or even worse, something he’d said-- Niragi would lose his shit. He’d yell at you once the moment had passed, having let it brew for moments before. How dare you humiliate him? Unite with Chishiya against him? Of course, that wouldn’t be even a sliver of truth, and you’d have to talk him down from hunting Chishiya in the Beach’s halls.
You’d manage a soft laugh for him, holding his face to keep his attention and stop his spiralling. “Niragi,” you’d shine a smile, knowing exactly how to calm him. “He’s pitiful, and I’m yours.”
Notes: I don’t think this is atypical AT ALL, but I wanted to welcome Karube and Maki to the fandom! So I’m tagging @daikichixkarube @osmosistakumi and @kuinaoflight so they can tell me how many I got right.
If you want to see the other parts of ‘atypical friendships’, look under this tag in my blog. So far, I’ve got Kuina-Kuzuryuu, Chishiya-Usagi, Ann-Aguni, Yaba-Mira and Niragi-Lisa.
- The three of them share pretty similar traits: protective of their friends, big hearts, impulsive, love fighting and they seem like generally fun-loving people.
- Maki’s the more introverted out of the three of them, though it’s not hard to seem introverted next to the likes of Karube and Kuina.
- I think the reason why they didn’t meet in the show is that at least one of them would’ve died within a week of them knowing each other, because they kept doing increasingly stupid things. In these cases, Karube would usually be the ‘mom friend’ who tries to keep Kuina and Maki from seriously hurting themselves, but he rarely accomplishes anything. He’d be mixing a drink at the Beach’s bar when Chishiya comes to fetch him to try and talk some sense into Kuina. When he asks her what she’s doing she says ‘Maki and I are trying to bend this metal pole by kicking it’. ‘And where is Maki?’ ‘He’s at the infirmary with an icepack on his leg, but once the swelling’s gone down he’s going to try again.’
- Karube uses them to taste new drinks he comes up with, and this ends with them having a drinking night. Maki has a surprisingly high tolerance to alcohol, while it’s hard to say when Kuina’s actually drunk because she acts a lot like she does when she’s sober, but when she decides it’s a good idea to climb onto a tabletop, it’s time to cut her off.
- Kuina constantly makes them bracelets and necklaces for them to wear. Since it’s impossible to wear all of them, Karube and Maki have started tying them to various objects; their keychains, the bags for Maki’s equipment, the hems of some trousers…
- Karaoke! They’d love karaoke: Maki can actually sing pretty well, Karube is a decent singer, and Kuina can’t hit a note to save her life. However, she puts on such a performance that they love watching her or doing duets with her. When the three of them are singing together, any and all attempts to stay on pitch go out of the window and they simply start screaming the lyrics of the song at the top of their lungs and laughing, leaving behind a horrified audience.
- Karube and Kuina would be THE BIGGEST fans of the Sology. They’d go to every concert and be the most enthusiastic people in the audience. They’d also shout very inappropriate scenes to try and distract Maki. ‘Sign my tits!’ Said by Karube. ’Sign my ASS!’ Said by Kuina. ‘SIGN MY DI-‘ You get the picture. However, the most embarrassed person in the room isn’t Maki, but Kuzuryuu, quietly standing beside them and wishing the earth would swallow him.
- I truly pity you if you mess with one of them, though if you’re stupid enough to do so while being aware that the three of them know how to fight, that’s on you. A guy acts particularly sleazy towards Kuina and Karube jumps out of the bar, Maki puts his drumsticks down, and Karube starts saying ‘Listen up: first she’s going to beat you up, then I’m going to beat you up, then he’s going to beat you up, then SHE’S going to beat you up, then I’M going to beat you up…’ Sometimes this drags on for so long that either Kuina interrupts by sending a kick to the guy’s face, or enough time has passed for Chishiya to go get his taser.
- Maki and Kuina have skincare nights. Have you SEEN Maki’s face? If I want to know his skincare routine, Kuina definitely wants to know it too.
- The Beach actually has four rules, the fourth one is ‘don’t speak the forbidden words (I dare you to…) in front of Kuina, Maki and Karube.’
- ‘The friends of my friends are my friends too’: this is something they take by heart and mostly, it works. Karube and Kuina get on with the other members of the Sology like a house on fire, Maki and Kuina like Arisu and Chota and make sure they’re protected in games, but Chishiya… well, they’ll get along with him one day. Hopefully.
- Speaking of, they have gotten hurt in the past because they were defending one of their friends’ loved ones, for example, Karube getting hurt protecting Kyuuma and telling Maki that ‘it’s alright, I know you would’ve done the same for Arisu or Chota.’ They all know how hard it is to lose someone close to them and they’d never wish that kind of pain on their friends.
- They have the same reasons for making it out alive: Karube has his girlfriend, Kuina her mother, and Maki has the Sology. They understand perfectly what it is to love other people with their entire hearts and being willing to do anything for them.
Hi! I'm a new follower and I just binged all of your stories today! And sooooo in love!
I just want to request a story, where chishiya is madly possesive of his S/O, where he gets jealous of anyone who would touch her.
S/O is a female.
Thank youuu so much!
Of course! Thanks so much for following and reading my fics! ❤❤
Possessive | Shuntaro Chishiya
{Alice In Borderland Masterlist}
Summary: You begin to notice Chishiya’s possessive behaviour around you when you start becoming more serious about your relationship
Type: short scenario
Word Count: 1.7k
*reader is female
Author’s Note: this is more like just a few scenarios of Chishiya being possessive. It isn’t that well written since I had to rush it a bit. I felt like I had to post something today cause I haven’t in a while, so I was a bit busy 😣
You never viewed Chishiya as the possessive type, especially when it came to relationships. The sly, manipulative character seemed to convey the vibe that he wouldn’t care less about who his significant other talked to or hung out with. But of course, during the first few weeks of dating him, you began to notice that your assumption was completely inaccurate.
It started with small gestures, like pulling you closer to him subtly when you were hanging around the pool area, or keeping a strong grip on your hand when walking down the hallways of the hotel together. You always thought it was him just being a good boyfriend, but over time you began to think otherwise.
Chishiya became more clingy towards you, both in public and private. Sometimes he would not allow you to leave his side at all, which always ended in a complaint from you. Even when you rolled your eyes and tried to walk away from him anyway, he would just grab you by your waist and pull you back to him, giving you a quick glare to warn you.
In private, like when you were in your shared room together, he always hid your shirts from you so you would be forced to wear one of his white t-shirts. He would become all happy and giddy when you saw you in his clothes, wrapping his arms around you like a little koala and not letting go for hours. There would be some nights when you would have to pry his arms off from your torso, as he simply refused to let you go.
************
One night, you both were sitting in a booth together outside around the pool area. Most of The Beach’s residents had made their way to bed, so it was just you and Chishiya having a few drinks together with the occasional small group of people walking nearby.
Chishiya had his lips against yours, moving slowly and intimately as he held the side of your face with one hand and rubbed the bare skin of your waist with the other. You were having a heated make out session, just enjoying being in each other’s presence without being disturbed by anyone.
“Chishiya,” you breathed out as you broke the kiss, making Chishiya pout unhappily. “Let’s head inside, it’s getting cold out here.”
Chishiya smiled and shook his head at your suggestion. “Can we just spend a few more minutes here? There’s too many people inside and just want some alone time with you,” he asked, tucking his head into the crook of your neck and lightly nipping at the sensitive skin. You winced as he kissed and bit along your neck and collarbones.
“I want to see Arisu. He said he wasn’t feeling too well today and I want to check up on him,” you said, pulling Chishiya away from your neck by his shoulders. Chishiya held a frown on his face.
“Why do you want to see Arisu? I’m right here, you don’t need him,” he groaned in an annoyed tone while tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. You pulled a sarcastic face and rolled your eyes.
“Yes I know, but I’m just worried about him, that’s all,” you insisted, pushing your hand underneath Chishiya’s chin and pressing your thumb against his lips lightly.
Chishiya gazed lovingly into your eyes as you traced your thumb across his cheek, closing his eyes in content as the feeling of your hand on his skin. “You’re so pretty,” you praised, giving him a short peck on his nose, making him chuckle slightly.
*************
A more prominent incident that conveyed his possessive personality was when you were in an executive meeting together.
You were a higher ranking member of the militants, so you were able to be present at meetings with Hatter.
Both you and Chishiya stood at the end of the large room together, leaning against the wooden wall and listening to the debate that everyone was holding. Hatter was trying to decide which executives to send to the next game, as he was expecting the game to represent a card that they had not yet able to achieve, and he wished to make sure that they were guaranteed to bring it back.
“Niragi and Aguni could go,” Mira suggested, gesturing towards the two taller men that sat at the table next to one another. “They have a 100% winning streak, so I think they’d be the best choice for a diamonds game such as this one.”
Your eyes broke from the rest of the room when you felt Chishiya’s hand run along yours, reaching for your hand and lacing your fingers together. You looked at his face, not even earning a side glance from him. It was unusual for him to act romantic towards you in front of the executives, especially during a meeting.
“Why doesn’t Y/N join then?” you suddenly heard your name. You looked back over to the table and saw Niragi eyeing you, making you tense immediately. “She can come with us, since she too has cleared a lot of diamond games.”
As everyone turned towards you and Chishiya, you felt Chishiya’s grip on your hand tighten.
Before you could even speak, Chishiya spoke for you.
“No,” he bluntly stated.
“No?” Niragi questioned, standing up from his seat and making his way over towards you and Chishiya’s position. “Why do you say no Chishiya?” Niragi asked, pressing the barrel of his rifle towards him.
“I’m not letting her go with you, not if I’m not there.”
You didn’t know what to say, so you just continued to glance between the two bickering men.
“She’s her own person, she can speak for herself,” Niragi growled into Chishiya’s face, turning towards you. Your heart stopped as he stepped towards your smaller frame. “So, what do you think sweetheart? We could really use your help.”
The way he ran his tongue along his bottom lip creepily at the end of his sentence made you uneasy. Before you could even answer, Chishiya had pulled you by your arm roughly behind him, putting himself between you and Niragi and shoving on his chest to get him away.
“Fuck off you perv,” he cursed at him, “she’s staying here. I don’t care how much you need her. I wouldn’t even let her in the same room as you or Aguni without me there.”
Niragi scoffed and gave you both an angered look before turning away. “Fine. Keep that personality up around her Chishiya, she just might get sick of you treating her like a possession you have control over.”
***********
Another incident occurred when you were both at the neon coloured bar outside in the party area.
Chishiya had to leave for a few minutes to look for Kuina, so you decided to wait at the bar for him to return, despite his protesting.
You were nodding your head to the music and sipping your drink, enjoying your time by yourself and having a nice conversation with the young lady who was the bartender. You suddenly were pulled from your thoughts when a cold hand was placed on your lower back, making you jump and spin your head around with an annoyed expression.
“Hey gorgeous,” he slurred his words, obviously drunk. “You’re looking awfully lonely. You want to come dance with me,” he pressed, running a hand through your hair softly. You swatted his hand away from your face and shuffled over in your seat to distance yourself from him.
“No thanks,” you declined politely. “I’m actually with someone, so I’m waiting for them right now,” you tried to reassure him.
He frowned and looked around the bar for someone who you might have been with. “I don’t see anyone. I’m sure your partner won’t mind if you have a little dance with me~”
His flirtatious tone made you cringe. He seemed awfully insistent. You declined once again and stood up from your seat to walk away, but you didn’t get the chance to when he grabbed you by your waist and pulled your back against his chest. “Stop being so hard to get. I just want to get to know you a little better.”
You tried to pull yourself from his touch as he ran his hands along the skin of your stomach a bit too intimately for it to be comfortable.
To your surprise, you heard a loud impact noise and the man’s grip left your body. You turned around to see what had happened to notice none other than Chishiya standing above the man on the ground, taser in hand.
“Piss off you horny dog,” he spat towards him, tucking his weapon back into his hoodie pocket. You noticed the people surrounding you watching the scene, making you feel uneasy, but Chishiya grabbed you by your hand and dragged you away from the crowd, heading towards the hotel.
After walking for a while, Chishiya turned around and looked at you, concern painted across his face.
“Oh my god, are you okay baby?” he asked, frantically checking your body for any signs of injury. “Did he touch you anywhere? I’m so sorry I left. I shouldn’t have left you alone like that, especially around all those intoxicated people.”
He was rambling as he rubbed your skin, trying to comfort you. “Chishiya,” you said, interrupting him. “I’m fine, it’s not your fault.”
You pulled him into a passionate kiss, running your hands through his hair, trying to calm him. Chishiya wrapped his arms around your shoulders to pull you closer, making you feel his warmth against you.
You snaked your hands underneath his hoodie and wrapped them around his back, scratching lightly through the material of his shirt. Chishiya sighed and pulled away from your lips, looking into your eyes.
“You’re all mine,” he whispered, rubbing his nose against yours playfully. You smiled at his statement. “You’re mine, don’t forget that.”
You nodded as he leant downwards to bite underneath your jaw. “Maybe I’m not making that clear enough,” he slyly said, making you chuckle nervously at his words. You gasped as he latched onto the skin of your neck, sucking on a single spot harshly. H.
“Chishiya, don’t!” you whispered-yelled. “You’ll leave a mark!”
Chishiya pulled away from your skin and admired the purple bruise that had formed on your neck, making him smirk. “That’s the point baby,” he said in a teasing tone. He leant back down and licked over the spot lightly to sooth the bruise.
You smiled and playfully hit his shoulder. “Idiot,” you groaned and rolled your eyes.
Now I'm coming at this from a 2020 live-action pov, but I think it would be really neat and fucked up if Shibuki was a game dealer and managed to recruit Chota as well.
Notes: I’m thinking of posting a series of head canons of people in AiB who I think would be friends but the show did us dirty and missed their potential. The first one is Kuina and Kuzuryuu. @kuinaoflight @diamond-attorney-keiichi tell me how much of these I got right!
- Kuina is literally the only person who takes him seriously, because she knows he's the only person (aside from An, and even then she seems more worried about her corpses than the actual living people of the Beach) who makes sure everything is running smoothly at the Beach.
- Kuzuryuu knows Kuina is good with people and occasionally asks her about her opinion on how things are being handled, if she thinks the people are happy with the way he's running things, if she has any suggestions as to what to change, etc
- She's also very close to Chishiya and sometimes asks her if she can casually drop a hint here and there to make Chishiya do some work, because mans does absolutely no work as an executive except when Kuina asks him for something.
- Kuina holds massive respect for Kuzuryuu because she can see how he's trying to make things as good as possible, so every time he asks her for something her response is 'I'm on it, sweetheart'
- Yes, she uses 'sweetheart' a lot with him. Kuzuryuu feels endearing to her, she knows that under his cold exterior is a very caring man.
- In turn, she gets special privileges whenever she asks. If she wants to change rooms, Kuzuryuu makes the change in less than an hour. If she wants to be partnered up with someone specifically in games, he makes it possible. She wants the bartender of the beach's nightclub fired, but not dead; he's on it. Everything she asks for, no questions asked.
- Kuina mostly calls him Kuzuryuu, sometimes Keiichi, but a few times she’s slipped up and called him ‘Kei’. He doesn’t mind.
- They did a hearts game together in which they had to figure out which item in the room had killed the person laying in the middle of it. Kuina was the one to solve it because she noticed that the blood and bruises on the body were just makeup (very shitty makeup, Kei, you should see the stuff I have back at the Beach) and the person wasn’t actually dead. She felt so proud of herself (as she should be) that he wanted to congratulate her somehow so he took her off the chore chart for the next day.
- They recommend books to each other and talk them through after they're done with them. Their perspectives are always very different and that's what makes it so enjoyable to discuss them together, because they bring up different points of view.
- They discuss these books while Kuina does Kuzuryuu's makeup. She's applying eyeliner as he raves about Crime and Punishment and if that's not friendship goals idk what is. They’ve learned that Kuzuryuu looks really pretty with glitter in his eyes and that Kuina does not care much for Raskolnikov.
- Kuina often tells him that once they get back to the real world she’s going to make him sit through every episode of Pretty Little Liars. She’s so excited every time she mentions this that Kuzuryuu doesn’t have the heart to let her down and always replies ‘Sure. I’m also looking forwards to it.’
