Someone should write a Nirashiya fic where Chishiya and Niragi are both serial killers with wildly different methods of killing who both live in Tokyo. They both get increasingly annoyed with the other killer who keeps messing up their attempts to dispose of bodies and ruining their reputation with the press etc. one day they meet each other, and without knowing that each other are serial killers, they are both so intensely annoyed by each other that they decide to kill one another. They discover each other’s identities when they both try to kill the other. From there they are both forced to collaborate with one another in order to keep from being arrested etc.
they want to fuck each other so bad it makes them enact increasingly complex crimes against each other in order to prove that they’re actually the one with the power that they’re one DOING the fucking & not the one getting fucked over

Drew this bc I read the first words between Chishiya and Niragi and spent three business days cackling. I’m starting to think that this fic is just catnip to artists when it comes to generating fan art lol. I blame the vivid, otherworldly imagery, and ofc the fact that it has MERMAIDS!!!!!!!!
She inherited both of her fathers ruthless intelligence, Chishiya’s talent for heart games, Niragi’s ruthlessness (and alt style), and a single drop of kindness from her auntie Kuina<3
I’m stuck here thinking abt how (at least to me) Niragi and Chishiya both have, like, fire motifs and stuff. Idk.
Like, Niragi is a fire that rages and burns and destroys everything it comes in contact with, having this undertone of violence and self destruction at the same time. He’s the fire that burns so brightly, and so violently that it consumes its own fuel and dies out because of it.
Chishiya is this sterilizing flame, the type of white hot fire that you can only get from a certain type of heat. It’s not quite as hungry as Niragi’s all consuming flame, instead burning in a relatively small area. It’s not seeking out things to burn, desperate to destroy what it can and thus destroying itself in the process. No, instead his flame is high maintenance, its white hot quality hard to maintain unaided. What it does burn though leaves nothing behind but bone and rock. Niragi’s flame is scorching, melting flesh and tearing through wood with a vengeance, but Chishiya’s flame is so hot that it feels cold at first. Either way, they both require destruction to survive.
Plus there’s the whole thing with Chishiya fucking SETTING NIRAGI ON FIRE? I’m going insane
Inspired by Emily Brontë saying “How cruel, your veins are full of ice water and mine are boiling”
- Set in Hokkaido instead of Tokyo, Chishiya is there at his family's holiday home and Niragi is visiting for a work commitment
- The Beach is called 'The Resort' and takes place in a Ski Resort
- Due to the hazardous nature of the weather and lack of easily accessible amenities people pair off more cautiously (I.e. Kuina realises she might not be able to trust Chishiya, no one trusts Niragi)
- Pairs and groups will hoard camping equipment and survival gear in order to survive the climate
- The Witch Hunt still happens with an element of cabin fever, instead of burning Niragi in this AU Chishiya locks him in a storage freezer (however Niragi is able to mimic distressed noises and Arisu frees him - getting almost killed in the process but saved by Aguni)
- Niragi has scars from frostburn all over his hands as well as parts of his arms and legs from struggling to get out the room in anger / panic
- Kuina states she cannot trust Chishiya after his betrayal with Arisu and Usagi, now alone he knows he needs a partner to have any chance of survival and all that's left is an unconscious Niragi
- Chishiya and Niragi pair together eventually due to lack of other choice and because each one thinks they're in control of the dynamic when reality is they're dependent on each other
- Chishiya can't handle the cold well and has a low stamina (often needing rest and warmth more frequently), whereas Niragi's mental fortitude is even more fragile when paired with extreme weather (needing motivation and challenge to scathe off his loathing)
- They slowly grow to care for each other whether intentional or otherwise, Niragi will spot Chishiya's face and hands getting cold and shoo them into a building or suitable campsite, while Chishiya will drag Niragi out of his thoughts in a blunt but essential manner
- They end up developing a closer bond and only realise it in the Jack of Hearts game when they both have a chance to outsmart / manipulate the other into losing but turn down the opportunity
- With the games ramping up and tension building they move into a casual relationship (though are now deeply possessive of each other), and wind up meeting Arisu's group again
- Arisu and Kuina still have a slight soft spot for Chishiya despite his betrayal and on reunion spark Niragi's jealousy in a number of ways
1. For having a previous friendship with Chishiya
2. For Chishiya still being accepted by the group whereas Niragi is isolated / only tolerated for being with Chishiya
3. For Chishiya accepting them, a feeling / action developed through accepting Niragi first
- So Niragi reacts similarly to canon and attacks them, but unlike canon Chishiya is the one to shoot him purposely missing his vital organs
- Chishiya isn't unscathed though and reveals he was hit in the crossfire, so they both are left to bleed out while Arisu and Usagi challenge the final game
I wanted an excuse to draw Chishiya a little scrungly and Niragi a little tidy

Career Swap No Borderlands AU:
- Chishiya's parents were software engineers who got together and had him to tick off societal boxes (i.e. Chishiya was still emotionally neglected)
- Chishiya's dad would haul himself in his room pouring over code and scripts
- Chishiya followed in his footsteps however preferred game engineering for the psychological element, he had a fascination with player choices and the games he develops often asks the player sum up the value their characters or fellow NPCs lifes in some way
- His games become cult classics or popular indie horror games, though he wouldn't describe them as horror, they're simply as the player depicts
- His fascination becomes an obsession and he ends up mirroring his father as he spends night after night hauled up in his room (hence slight dark circles)
- Due to this he develops carpal tunnel in his wrist, with the wealth from his games he goes to a private clinic where he meets Niragi
- Niragi being bullied and neglected in high school meant he had to fix himself up, for survival as much as anything else he ends up studying medicine
- He also likes the money and power that comes with that career line
- He also really really likes the power he has to inflict pain and fear
- He's extremely skilled and precise with his work earning him a position in a private clinic, meaning more money and less red tape
- However, life begins to balance the scales and he's plagued with a patient called Chishiya, a man who comes in for the smallest thing and requests him specifically
- Niragi could refuse him, or get him blacklisted from the practice for a bullshit reason, but he doesn't -couldn't when the brat challenges his beloved power dynamic with apathetic eyes and condescending smiles
- So he charges him the higher end and rearranges his other patients around him
- A first consistent presence for them both, their appointments become familiar, never wholesome or particularly beneficial but reliable
- Eventually they agree on a regular checkup appointment on a fortnightly basis, neither are particularly happy with the outcome but they crave each others company like a itch they know will lead to an infection
Chishiya's Design:
- Slight dark circles under his eyes due to late nights and not enough sleep
- Headphones he wears religiously (of course he has cat ear clip-ons at home)
- He gets multiple piercings just so he can have Niragi examine them under false pretences (also to mirror Niragi's og design)
- Hair is just me giving into my whims
Niragi's Design:
- Doesn't give up his glasses 🎉🙏🤝💪 (because I like them 👉👈)
- Doesn't have piercings because he gave himself health anxiety, plus due to the expectations of his career
- Also ties his hair back due to his career
- He wears monotone colours, mostly blacks and greys, under his doctor's coat
- Still has an affinity for video games, especially medical themed ones
- He has a tamagotchi he's had for over a decade that he cares for more than any of his patients (in the top pocket of his lab coat)
