So uh, I got too burnt out to do the lighting/rendering on this piece so it’s pretty flat & bright, my apolocheese 🧀

Anyway, Rex is super sick in the middle of the night and Shakespeare (Adventures in Odyssey Walter Shakespeare anthro cat design reveal!!1!1!11!) has to make sure he’s okay, and not.. uh. Dying.

Remember when I asked if anyone wanted to hear about my silly dramatic Adventures in Odyssey AU?

My AU follows a fan OC of mine named Rex, who is the son of Edwin Blackgaard.

The story takes place about 14-15 years after the events of the Blackgaard Chronicles. Edwin has been raising a son (and by that I mean Shakespeare does all the actual work) named Rex, who is now a teenager.

He was pretty sheltered growing up, mainly due to his many health issues. He doesn’t have many friends, and is often ridiculed and bullied for being a member of the Blackgaard family. Regis was long dead when Rex was born, but Rex can’t seem to separate himself from his uncle’s legacy. Even some of the adults seem to keep their distance. He was told about Regis’s actions plenty of times, but it was always very surface level; the details were excluded.

He never really questioned it, after all, it was none of his business. As he grows older, he starts to grow more and more curious about his family’s… history. Eventually, things stop making sense completely, and he’s left to figure it out on his own.

The more time I spend around German Shepherds in person, the more I’m like “yeah the Blackgaard twins would definitely be German Shepherds.”

AIO ANTHRO DESIGNS (PT. 2)

Nicholas Adamsworth/the Acolyte: Airedale Terrier. Was mainly inspired by his reddish brown kinda curly hair. Also because he was adopted by Blackgaard he gets a bow. I headcanon that he longs to be as similar to Blackgaard as possible, so he got his ears cropped to make them look more like a German Shepherd’s. He would have had natural floppy ears before he met Blackgaard.

ONE THAT ISN’T A DOG?!? How scandalous. Anyway, since Phillip Glossman is known as a “weasel,” I figured it’d only be appropriate to make him a mustelid of some kind. I didn’t think any true weasel species fit him very well, so I went with a mink instead.

This is a design I hardly use anymore, but it was my first one, so I keep it around. Aubrey Shepard. She has a very catty voice and attitude. She gives me ginger/orange tabby cat vibes, so I decided to make her a ginger Maine Coon.

AIO ANTHRO DESIGNS (PT. 1 because I can only upload so many images per post)

A few people have expressed interest so here are some of my anthro AIO designs! I only have solid designs for a few characters, most are just very loose species concepts that I haven’t yet drawn, but I’ll include them too.

I’m gonna make some specific tags for my silly little furry AU designs so look out for #Adventures in OwOdessey and #AIOwO in future posts (YES I KNOW PEOPLE DON’T SERIOUSLY USE THINGS LIKE “OWO” or “UWU” ANYMORE but it’s a great portmanteau)

And because Adventures in Odyssey has like a thousand characters, obviously I can’t make a design for all of them. Pretty much all the furry designs I made are of characters from the Blackgaard Saga + maybe one or two others that stick out to me.

OH YEAH I DESIGNED A LOT OF THESE WHEN I WAS YOUNG and I admittedly didn’t know what all the characters looked like at the time so I based my designs off of their voices and personalities rather than their appearances. I say all this to say that my furry designs may look kinda different from their human counterparts and/or have random design elements that don’t make complete sense.

CHARACTERS WITH FULL DESIGNS

OBVIOUSLY we are starting with Dr. Blackgaard himself, since he’s the main character and the reason for all this. I chose to make him a black German Shepherd, not just because the word “black” is in his name, but because his voice sounds like a dark color. German Shepherds are a very confident, intelligent breed of dog, and I feel like it suits him well. Also I made his eyes blank because that was kinda a popular thing for making designs look edgy or whatever at the time. It just kinda stuck. Same with the bow tie & tail bow those are just silly little personal touches.

Edwin Blackgaard is obviously a black German Shepherd like his brother, but I wanted some subtle differences between the two. Edwin has slightly lighter fur and in place of a bow ties, he has more elegant/flamboyant ribbons around his neck & tail.

Richard Maxwell seems to be a fan favorite around here so of course I need to post his design ASAP. I chose to make him an Australian Shepherd because the breed is very high energy, mischievous, and cheeky. Also Australian shepherds SCREAM “Richard Maxwell” to me. Obviously he’s a standard size Aussie, not a mini one.
