Today, we remember you. In 2010, a warrant was served on the wrong house. A flash bang was thrown through a window, exploding, and setting the blanket Aiyana and her grandmother slept under afire. A SWAT team including Officer Joseph Weekley entered the home. Officer Weekley testified under oath that Aiyana’s grandmother reached for a gun. This was a lie. Scared, disoriented, and ill-trained Officer Weekley fires his weapon, murdering Aiyana as she slept. She was 7 years old.

Breonna was a 26 year old EMT. In this distressing time of 2020, Breyona was devoted to helping those around her. And she was still murdered. By police. As she slept. Because they carried out a warrant on the wrong house. The edge of this case is: the supposed suspect was already in custody at the time the illegal entry took place. Her boyfriend Kenneth Walker is facing attempted murder charges for protecting his home from who he assumed to be intruders.

Standing up for something that is much bigger than you, you never know where it might lead, but you have to try. This has to stop, it will take time, but if we don’t start this path then how many innocent children will grow up without their mother or father to such a senseless thing? How many will not call the police because they are scared? How many innocent people will continue to go to jail?
