the soft chimes of bells ringed as you opens the door of the shop. sweet floral aroma rushed your nostrils and mesmerizing colors of various flowers welcomed you as you entered.
“good morning! what can i do for you?” a soft voice greeted you. and as you glanced the owner of the voice, your eyes met a pair of sea green orbs, the man standing at the center with a potted sunflower, was mesmerizing himself. he wore a warm smile enough to make your cheeks heat up.
“uhhh...g-good morning!” you stuttered. “i-i just moved within the area, and i was looking for somewhere where i can plants for my apartment... a-and i saw this shop.”
“oh... you came a the right place then” the handsome man smiled
“what kind of plant were you exactly looking for?” he inquired.
“something that doesn’t really need a lot of attention since i’m out of the house most of the time due to work...i’m a doctor..i wanted some since my apartment looks dull without greens in it” you replied shyly.
he hummed in response as he put down the flower pot. “well i could suggest you start with a cacti or any succulents, since they just need a little attention.”
“hmmm... i prefer the ones without spikes”
“okay then” he said as he lead you to a shelf where various succulent plants are displayed. they were all cute in different sizes and shape.
you scanned each and everyone of them and you can’t help but get fascinated.
he took on of the pots and showed it to you. “this one’s a rose cabbage, its leaves changes colors to red violet once placed under the sun”
you looked at the plant with awe. “i’ll take that one” you beamed at him. and as he turned to the cashier you didn’t notice the blush that adorned his handsome face.
as you were paying for your purchase you asked him some little questions. you learned that his name was Akaashi Keiji and he lives in the same apartment complex as you, just a floor above yours. after that you bid him goodbye as you went home
starting that day a special bond was formed, Akaashi learned the you actually loved plants and and for months you would find a small potted succulent plant or a potted flower on your doorstep. your collection grew in a matter of time. he also learned that you like literature and sometimes on your day offs you would visit him at the flowershop and would bring him books that you think he would like. and you would stay there for hours, he didn’t mind at all. honestly he loved your company.
—
one time, in one of your visits, you finally met his best friend Bokuto who was a professional volleyball player. he was loud and energetic, a total opposite to Akaashi calm and quiet demeanor.
“AAAAHHHHH SO ITS YOU?????” Bokuto exclaimed. “THE ONE AKAASHI’S-“ Akaashi suddenly cuts him off by covering his mouth which got you confused.
“Now now Bokuto-san, you told me you’ll gonna me bring the plants im here, right?” Akaashi said as he dragged Bokuto towards the back door.
You have never seen Akaashi that flustered before.
—
“You still didn’t tell her?” Bokuto asked almost a whisper as he was dragged out.
“no” Akaashi replied as he lift a bucket of stargazers.
“WHAT?! WHY???!”
“Bokuto-san, tone down, y/n might hear you.” Akaashi protested.
“oh sorry. why?”
“i think she don’t like me back”
“how would you know if you didn’t ask her?” Bokuto raised a brow. “what if she likes you??”
Akaashi sighed. Bokuto was right. Well, it’s worth a try, he thought.
“Oh c’mon Akaashi!! do something before someone else snatches her!”
“but Bokuto-sa -“ Akaashi suddenly stopped as he saw your head peek behind the door.
“are you guys okay? what’s taking you so long?” you asked them
Akaashi then clears his throat and walked towards you. “nothing” he said as he passed by you.
you threw a confused look towards Bokuto and he just shrugs before lifting a bucket of sweet peas.
—
you helped the two boys arrange the plants and flowers and as Akaashi finally opened the shop, Bokuto bid his goobye and ran off to practice. and that’s it! you were left alone with Akaashi.
“y/n, would you like some tea?” Akaashi offered breaking the silence
“uh yeah! sure!” you replied
Akaashi then prepared tea and brought two ceramic cups and placed them on the table.
“I made jasmine and lavender tea, is it okay with you?” he inquired
“yes of course” and he handed you your cup.
you felt your body relax as the aroma of the tea engulfed your nostrils. it really smelled great.
“do you like it?” he asked
you only hummed in response as you savor the tea.
you heard a click that brought you back to reality only to realize that Akaashi took a photo of you with his phone.
“hey! no fair! what’s that for?” you said as you tried to take his phone from his hand only for him to stand and tower over you as he held his phone higher
“for remembrance.” he said with a smile. “you looked beautiful, so i wanted something to preserve it”
“haaaaaaa?! do i look beautiful with these bags under my eyes?” you prostested as you struggled to reach for his phone
“you’re still beautiful.” he said as he lowered his hand giving you the opportunity to snatch his phone. you were about to delete the photo when he lifted your face to meet his gaze.
“you’ve always been beautiful in my eyes, y/n, ever since you set foot in my flowershop that day.” you felt heat creep up your face as you can’t tear your gaze away from his.
and before your brain could process everything, he slowly leaned in and kissed you. his lips feels soft and warm against yours and you can’t help but to reciprocate. it feels like Akaashi’s been pouring every feelings unsaid to that kiss and you kiss him back as to tell that you felt the same.
the kiss left the both of you breathless, foreheads resting against each other and as you pulled away he looked at you and leaned in again to plant a soft peck your lips.
“i like you y/n, would you go out with me?” he finally confessed
but instead of answering, he heard a soft laugh from you making him confused.
“Keiji, you should have confessed first before the kiss”
and the both of you laughed.
“so? what’s your answer, blossom?”
you blushed at the endearment he used.
“yes!” you eagerly replied. “yes! yes! yes!”
—
two months later
“Akaashi-san! Are you here for Dr. l/n?” the nurse at the front desk asked.
“Ah. Yes! Is she in her office?”
“yes” the nurse replied
he mouthed a thank you and then went straight to your office. as he opened the door he saw you sitting in front of your desk scanning some patient records. he cleared his throat to announce his presence. you looked up and greeted him with a smile.
“lunch?” you asked
he nodded, a smile plastered on his face as you stood up and walked past him.
as he closed the door. he recognize something familiar sitting on your desk.
it was the potted rose cabbage you bought on the day that you first met.
a/n: this is highly self-indulgent and is kinda based on how i studied for an exam, long quiz or practical exam during my college days :) i just added a little bit of fluff in it *wink* *wink* i hope you guys will enjoy this as well :)

you carefully put your books and print-outs inside your bag, adding some snacks for you to munch on tonight. you checked the time.
11:30PM
there’s still time before the gates close to your dorm. the gates closes at 12AM and no one is allowed to go in or out of the building when the clock strikes 12AM. you need to leave before that.
and as you close the door behind you, you bumped into your roommate. “y/n, where are you going this late?” she asked. but the moment she saw the thick physiology book in your hands, it clicked. “ahhh another study out sesh?”
“y-yeah. i have a long exam in pharmacology and physiology, and a practical exam tomorrow. a-and i need to ace them” you rambled
“oh c’mon! you’ve been stuying since last week! give yourself a rest, you’ll definitely ace your exam.” she retorted
you knew she was right. you have studied enough but you still didn’t get the satisfaction that you wanted which lead you to cramming now.
“i have to.” you said and smiled at her as you walked out the building.
it was dark and chilly as you walked towards that 24hr coffee shop you’ve frequently go to. good thing you were wearing a warm and comfy sweater and beanie. you were also thankful that there’s an establishment that offers 24hr service and of course, a good cup of coffee to help you out at times like this. and as you round about the corner, you saw your sanctuary. the strong aroma of coffee welcomed you as you opened the glass door. one of the staffs greeted you and you smiled and nodded in return.
as you scan the vicinity for a vacant seat, there, you found one of the reasons why you frequent this certain coffeeshop. standing behind the counter, a handsome, raven-haired boy stood in all his glory.
you can’t help but blush when he suddenly meet your gaze with a warm smile and a small nod. your flustered face couldn’t deny that the gesture made your heart skip a beat.
you keep on fidgeting the strap of your backpack as you lined up to order. cheeks all flushed as you go near the counter. “good evening, ma’am , would you like your regular or would go for a different drink tonight?” he asked with so much familiarity towards. you frequent this coffeeshop so its not of a surprise.
“good evening!” you smiled at him, blushing a little. “i would like my regular please.”
“okay. one venti hot caramel macchiato it is then.” he already know your drink by heart. “would you like to add something to eat?” he added.
“uh.. no. i’m good!” you answered handing him your card.
“please take a seat as we prepare your drink and i will personally deliver it to you.” he said with a smile as he handed you back your card
you mouthed a thank you as you walked towards your chosen seat. after you settled down, you layed all your books and print-outs on the table, pulled out your jotter pad and pen, lastly, you turned your phone off then started reviewing.
moments later your drink arrived with a small note scribbled on a napkin.
good luck on reviewing :) - k
it said.
you glanced up to the person behind the note and you offered him a smile as he turned and walked back to his station
after an hour and a half, you felt your eyelids dropping. you put down your pen and took your phone out. you needed a breather after an information overload. you were busy scrolling twitter, when another napkin with a note was slipped on your table.
remember to take breaks, don’t over exert yourself to much - k
you can’t help but feel another swarm of butterflies surged in your stomach. you smiled and took a glance at his retreating figure, a tray of empty cups on his hand, not noticing the pinkish tint on his cheeks while smiling to himself.
2 hours had passed and you’ve already finished half of your reviewing when you noticed you have downed all your coffee, you streched your arms. its time for another break. you stood up to order your second dose of caffeine. as you approached the counter you noticed that it was a different barista on duty. maybe he’s on his break, you thought. so instead of ordering your regular, you settled for a cup of hot vanilla latte this time. you’re that meticulous, that you only let a certain barista prepare your favorite caramel macchiato.
you sip your coffee as its steam fogged up your glasses. the warmth spreading all over your body. you scanned the pile of print-outs in front of you, just a little more, you said to yourself. little by little you’re almost done with your tasks, reviewing, taking down and rewriting notes, doing mnemonics for better memory retention, etc. and as you were busy making a diagram about the RAAS pathway (Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone-System), another note came to view.
if you’re done, meet me at the back door. my shift’s gonna be over in 30 minutes. i’ll walk you to your dorm - k
you smiled to yourself as you held the note closer to your chest.
—
30 minutes later
you hurriedly went out of the coffeeshop as soon as you packed your things. and as you reached the back door, he was already waiting there. your boyfriend looking hot, leaning against the wall as his face was buried in his scarf.
“keiji!” you called him
his face may be buried deep within his scarf but the way his eyes lit up the moment he saw you didn’t go unnoticed. you jumped into his arms and he immediately enveloped you in his warm embrace.
“did you finished reviewing everything?” he inquired
you nodded. “but i think i still ne-“
“you have already reviewed enough. rest. or your mind would go blank during the exam” he cuts you off
you pouted. “but-“
“no buts okay? you’ll be fine. i believe in you.”
“mhmm. okay” you said as you buried your face into his chest.
“hey.” you called his attention.
he hummed acknowledging you.
“thank you for your little notes earlier. they kept me sane despite my heart having a rampage in my chest.”
he lets out a chuckle. “you’re welcome, y/n”
you looked up to him and and on your tippy toes, you kissed the tip of his nose making him blush a little.
“lets go home!” you exclaimed as you extended your hand to him.
he noticed you weren’t wearing your mitts.
still confused why he hasn’t taken your hand, Akaashi took off one of his mitts and wore them on your extended hand as he intertwined his free hand with the other and put it inside his coat’s pocket.
you felt warm in both your cheeks and your hand with his little sweet gesture.
“you always forget your mittens” he stated while looking away, not making the pinkish shade on his cheeks obvious.
“lets go. you still need to rest for your exams in the afternoon” he said as he gently pecked your forehead and squeezed your hand as you both started walking towards your dorm.
even though it was a chilly spring morning, you both feel warm with the presence of each other.
a/n: Akaashi Keita is Akaashi Keiji’s son, my very first beloved oc, which I first used in this ficlet. Hope you give him some love too 😊

“dad?” a soft small voice echoed throughout the bedroom pulling Akaashi back from his thoughts. he looked up to see his 10y/o son peeking behind the door.
“is it time to go?” he gently replied as his son nodded in response.
“okay buddy, give me a minute” Akaashi said as he put back the picture frame he was holding back to the nightstand, a smile adorning his face as he looked at how bright your smile was in the photo.
he went out of the bedroom to the hallway where Keita was waiting for him. “let’s go buddy, we don’t want mom to keep on waiting, don’t we?” Akaashi said as he patted the boy’s head. his son nodded eagerly as he reached his father’s hand and walked towards the door.
fresh spring air greeted your beloved boys as they walk through the streets, the air filled with sweet scent from cherry blossoms in full bloom. Akaashi can’t help but smile as he remembered how you loved the cherry blossoms.
“dad! look!! they’re so pretty!! mommy loves them so much!” Keita exclaimed as he let go of his dad’s hand and ran towards the falling flowers.
“careful now, the road is kinda slippery” Akaashi reminded, smiling at his son’s antics.
Keita then ran back to his father’s side and they both enjoy the scenery in front of their eyes. The day Akaashi first met you was similar to this, you were standing along the sidewalk, admiring the falling pink petals of the cherry blossoms. And the day he finally asked your hand in marriage, the cherry blossoms were also at their full bloom.
They went on and stopped by a flowershop to buy your favorite flowers.“blue roses! they’re mom’s favorite!” Keita remarked as Akaashi paid for the marvelous bouquet of blue roses.
“yes they are, and mommy would love to see them” Akaashi replied as he patted his son’s head.
before they went on to their destination, they dropped by Onigiri Miya, they bought some kelp stuffed onigiris, your favorite. and they continued their journey to you.
—
“mom! were here! did you wait long?” Keita exclaimed as he sprinted towards you, Akaashi trailing behind him.
“hello, my love” Akaashi softly greeted as he gently swatted the fallen petals above your gravestone. “we bought your favorite flowers, blue roses, as always.” and he gently placed the bouquet down. “also we bought some of your favorite onigiris from Onigiri Miya” a smile grazing his handsome face as he saw Keita setting up the picnic mat on ground underneath the cherry blossom tree.
It had been two years since you passed away. two years when he lost the love of his life. two years of missing your scent, you presence, your warm hugs and soft kisses.
“Keita, missed you so much, love, i miss you too... so bad...” Akaashi said almost a whisper as he sat on the ground.
—
Keita was now lying on his stomach, reading his favorite book “The Little Prince” as he munched on his onigiri. Akaashi took notice of the book his son was holding. “you really love that book, don’t you?” he asked.
“umh-hm! mom used to read this to me before i go to sleep!” Keita answered before finishing his onigiri.
Akaashi can’t help but feel a pang on his chest. he knows that your son longs for you as much as him. it took him almost a year to bring his son back to how he was before your death. both of them struggled in grief, especially Keita who lost his mother at a very young age. but Akaashi was there all the way, he never let his son feel alone or unloved. they were each other’s support along the process of healing.
“dad? do you miss mom?” Keita asked out of the blue.
Akaashi was taken aback, but his gaze soften as his eyes landed on a pair of gunmetal blue orbs identical to his which held too much inquisition in it.
“of course” Akaashi responded. “i miss your mom almost everyday” he smiled wearily
“i miss her too.” Keita confessed as he sat up closing his book. “but i won’t cry like i used to” he continued and beamed at his father.
“mom is already happy wherever she is now. that is what you and granny always told me. and if mommy is happy, then Keita is happy too” he stood up and gave Akaashi a hug.
Akaashi was moved by how mature his son was. he almost cried hearing those words from a ten-year-old boy. you raised your child well, he thought. even though they lost you so soon, Akaashi was thankful that you became the mother of his son, he always was. he was lucky to have a responsible, caring and loving wife and mother for him and Keita. and he promised to himself, that he would always be there to guide and nurture Keita as he grows.
“you really are a big boy now, Keita. your mom and i are very proud of you.” he planted a kiss on his son’s temple and hugged him tight.
“i love you daddy.” Keita said as he tightened his hold onto his father.
“i love you too, son” Akaashi then replied hugging his son close to him even tighter. and as his gaze fell upon your gravestone, he finally let a tear roll down his cheek.
Thank you for giving birth and for raising this wonderful child.
