Karma x Reader — Things he does as a boyfriend ୭🧷✧˚. ᵎᵎ 🎀 SORRY! As always very late :'(
— Gets you out of your comfort zone,
In the play E-Class did for the elementary school kids, he’s the one to suggest to everyone you play the lead. He convinces you by saying you can spend your day together.
Another example of this is going through with your assassination attempts. He is the first to volunteer himself to go along with your plan! Need a guy to swing from the rooftops? Get him a rope. Need someone to shoot? Give him the signal and he’s ready. Need horse tranquilizer? He knows a guy.
— Defends you when you’re wrong.
This one is very specific, I don’t think he’s the type to back out of an argument for anyone, it’s more like he’s defensive around people who criticize you. He just shoots out insults before you even have the time to react. Somehow he doesn't sound aggressive when doing it, comes out of his mouth way too naturally.
Terasaka for example: “How’d you miss that shot? Your aim is the worst I’ve seen.”
“Maybe [Name] can use you as a shooting target. Your heads big enough.”
— Can’t cook? He’s got you covered! His favorite dish is anything as long as he cooks it, with his parents often traveling he developed that skill really well over the years.
— He“buys” you the best gifts (he gets them in the weirdest ways.)
The same as the time he pulled out math equations when he was getting scammed by the stand owner at the festival until he got a console for free.
Half of his belongings come from his “Delinquent fishing” money, so most of the things he buys for you are probably from the same guys he terrorizes.
— An arcade gaming pro, anything you want he can win on the first try! If he can’t he will find a way to prove it’s rigged or faulty and get the manager to clear out the prize stock. He’s shameless.
It's October so Halloween Headcannons;
His favorite part of Halloween is going out of his way to scare people.
He’s going to go around scaring his classmates and making you participate. (Rio happily joins in.)
He'll put you up to trick someone else that way he can come behind you and scare you.
He makes you match costumes but they’re never cute. He has disturbing, taste. But who can say no to his offer???
— Competitive.
“Whoever gets a lower score on this exam has to buy the winner food!”
“Karma you’re only saying that cause you know I didn’t study.”
He buys you food if you lose anyway to cheer you up.
— Makes you his accomplice,
“[Name] Im a block away from your house, I need you to pour some hydrogen peroxide in a bucket”
“I am not helping you clean blood off your clothes again!"
a/n: This idea has been sat for a while waiting for me to write it properly.
2022
Hastily, you sprint up the mountain and hold your knees once you’re inside the disgustingly warm building; waiting for your breathing to even, you wander around the staff room. Collected, you step towards your old classroom, hand inches away from pulling it open in hesitation before you slide it across.
Everyone stares back at you, equally older and matured. Time stands still, the room in its own bubble as the rest of the world carries on. Some seem shocked to see you, understandably so, with your job; whilst they followed their dreams, you stayed where you felt the most accomplished. You stuck it out and followed the path laid out for you and became a professional.
The only professional assassin to be moulded from your class.
“I’m late, aren’t I?” Your gaze darts from face to face until Isogai stands.
He approaches with a solemn smile on his face. “Korosensei wrote these for us, for when we were kids.” An envelope is in his grip, and he outstretches his arm to hand it to you. “He also left us instructions.”
“Instructions?”
Rio answers, “We have to read them out loud.” She shrugs and fiddles with her envelope. “He wrote them but never got the chance to give them to us.”
Isogai returns to his seat, and your head immediately turns to your own at the back, taking in the faces of your classmates, of whom you’ve barely seen in years. Karma lazily places his hands in his pockets, winking as you sit beside him on his left.
Nerves cause you to bite your lip, listening to everyone read their letters and instantly realising that despite not being here, the gossip never ends. Thankfully, some have wisdom inked into their papers, and your dread dissipates. You’ve never had a secret, so there’s no need to worry.
Karma leans over to your desk and whispers, “Nervous?”
“What? No,” you said, shaking your head. “Should I be?” Face pale, your nerves creep back in, but you recover from your momentary fright when you notice the evil expression on his face.
Isogai turns to you and announces, “It’s your turn.”
Head held high with a confident smile, you open the envelope with your thumb and unfold the paper. Korosensei can’t have anything on… you? They’re all staring at you expectantly whilst you’re internally screaming at the words taunting you.
Embarrassment weakens your voice. “You may have fooled your classmates, but you could never fool me. I promise…” Head held low, you read the last line. “I promise he won’t reject you.”
Screech! Rio charges towards you and gasps, “I can’t believe you had a crush and we didn’t know!” In front of you, she places her palms on your desk. “Who was it?”
“Uh…” you awkwardly laugh, “Can we continue with the other notes, please?”
She crosses her arms with a huff, “Fine!” And drags her feet back to her desk.
Next up is Karma, right after yours, and he reads it aloud with little to no shame. “Swallow your pride and follow your heart. P.S., put me in the wedding,” he laughs obnoxiously at the note.
Uproar floods the class, and you can’t fathom looking up from your desk. “This is awful,” you mutter into your arms.
“I think it’s pretty good,” Karma whispered, with a hand on your shoulder.

2014
School has always been difficult for you, and no matter how much money your parents sunk into therapy, you were barely changing. Kunugigaoka was the only school willing to take you, despite your behavioural issues and temperament; the Principal placed you in E-Class, at the time you didn’t understand why that could be a negative.
“Just keep your head down and you might get out of that class,” your mother says, not bothering to glance at you over her shoulder. “Don’t listen to any bad influences, and if you dare to slack on your work, we will know.”
To keep the peace, you nod. “Understood.”
— —
In front of the dilapidated classroom, you sneer at the creaking as you realise the budget for the school has clearly gone elsewhere; main campus is pristine, with no faults and no dirt in sight. Even worse, inside, you’re met with a giant octopus that apparently wants to end the world. Brow raised, you look him up and down before introducing yourself to the class with practised confidence.
Korosensei pats you lightly on your upper back. “Your seat is at the back, next to Karma.” Cautiously, you glance behind at him as you approach your seat.
Periodically, classmates would look at you, some with smiles and others with confused expressions. “What brings you here?” A question from your right. Turning, you look him over: red hair, gold eyes, and a mischievous grin.
“Other schools wouldn’t take me,” you answer with a shrug, “I was too late.” Narrowing his eyes, he clearly does not accept it but refuses to pester further.
— —
Korosensei would be a fool not to detect the tiny slips in your behaviour. The way your smile hardly reaches your eyes, or the carefully curated words, not allowing anyone beyond the surface. He knew of your previous challenges, but he’s determined to intervene with your obvious inability to trust, and the perfect opportunity has arisen: Kyoto.
“Hehe.” Korosensei pushes you over to Nagisa’s group. “You will join this group, does that work for the rest of you?” he asks, an unmoving smile on his face.
Nagisa, Kaede, Sugino, Okuda, Kanzaki, and Karma all seem confused before agreeing with a single look at Korosensei. “It’s an uneven group,” you inform him, scowling at your teacher who is obviously playing some strange game.
He reassures, “That does not matter. Your classmates are thrilled to make space for you.”
“Right…” you mumble as he strolls off.
Kanzaki is the first to speak, “I can’t wait! I can make plans.” Okuda and Kaede excitedly nod along with her, forming a small group.
Sugino steps forward with a weary smile at Karma. “We should figure out who sits with whom.” Then quietly whispers to Nagisa, “I don’t want to get pickpocketed.”
The discussion seems to involve neither you nor Karma, causing you both to step away with bored expressions, silently listening into the shared opinions and exaggerated what ifs. Perhaps you and Karma aren’t so different, but you’ve always had a streak of being careful no matter how perfectly good someone seems.
The seats on the train don’t allow for seven people. Behind Nagisa, Karma herds you into the seat between them, forcing you to be the centre of the conversation despite never having to open your mouth. Glad that no one is forcing you to engage; your brow twitches slightly at Sugino’s whining about being forced onto the other side.
When Korosensei appears outside, he’s pleased and shouts, “I knew you could make some friends!” Causing you to slot your earphones into your ears and close your eyes.
Nagisa is generous enough to allow you to have the inner armrest, but Karma is not so courteous. His elbow pushes your arm off the armrest beside him, and your earphone falls out. Silently, you fight over the armrest, pushing each other constantly.
“It’s mine,” he laughs at you, grinning as you attempt to pull him off it.
You snarl, “Nagisa was kind enough to give me the other.” Placing your arm on top of his.
“I’m not.”
You can’t fight back the smile spreading across your face. “No shit.”
He backs off, removing his arm and allowing you to have the armrest before placing his on top of yours, effectively trapping you. No matter how much you attempt to escape, you’re made to enjoy the rest of your journey with a tingly arm from how numb it got beneath the pressure.
It was the first proper interaction between you. The memory is amusing—everyone looked terrified that you were getting along. It sours once you attempt to recall what happened in Kyoto: blood dripped from your mouth and scrapes were all over your arms and legs. You fought back so hard that you nearly bit a chunk out of the guy’s hand, and he let go.
— —
Karma would push your buttons constantly. Every day was something new, and he was making it impossible to crawl back to your safe zone. He’s begun bringing out a side of you that you’ve spent years wanting to express, but never finding a space safe enough for it.
After talking more and more, he had got into the habit of waiting for you. “Ice cream?”
“Just don’t eat mine like usual,” you sigh, shaking your head and placing the strap of your bag on your shoulder.
He shrugs. “Can’t promise anything.” Sticking his tongue out, he held the door for you.
The trek down the mountain is a thousand times better than the climb. Inside the shop, you place your bag on the extra chair, and he hands you a card, which you don’t take and stare at.
“I’m paying.” He places it on the table and slides it over to you.
Unsure, you say, “We usually pay for our own.”
“What do you want?” He shakes his head and takes the card back. “I’ll get it.”
Hesitantly, you give in. “Fine.” You’ve always hated being in debt to someone, but his parents have so much money he probably doesn’t care. “I’ll have… a scoop of honeycomb and one vanilla, please.”
“Basic today?”
“Be quiet.” He laughs and stands.
Why is he suddenly paying for your things? Every other time it has been 50/50. As he comes back with two tubs in hand, he dramatically takes a chunk out of your vanilla scoop. You can’t even argue with him, as this is the hundredth time he’s done that.
He places yours down and you point at his tub. “I want a bit from yours.”
Cocking his head, he holds it in front of your face, and you grab his hand, copying the way he stole yours. “Happy?” he pulls it away from you.
“Very.” The spoon slices through with ease, and you glance up as he sits. “Would you help me study? But I know you don’t like to, so it’s fine if not.”
“It’s fine. I can come round tomorrow?”
“Huh?” You sit up straight. “No, not at mine.” His brows furrow at your sudden stiffness, and you awkwardly chuckle, “My room isn’t clean, and it’s bad.”
“Stop lying, yeah?”
“I’m not!”
He doesn’t respond for a few seconds, glaring at you. “Sure, and Korosensei isn’t a walking octopus.” He’s long since finished his ice cream, having devoured it, and leans back with crossed arms. “What is it?”
Swallowing your last spoonful, you stare down at the empty tub. “My parents,” you groan, “they’re overbearing and expect the best from me. They got me help, but nothing worked.” Rubbing your palm against your clothed arm, you meet his eye. “They never say it to my face, but I’ve overheard them talking about me. How I’m a failure and I’m nothing more than a ticking time bomb.”
“Time bomb?”
“Yeah… I was in therapy for a few years,” you admit with a frown. “Conduct disorder.”
Understanding, he nods. “What did you do?”
“Fought. A lot.” You hold your face by your cheeks, elbows on the table. “I used to have a bad temper, still do to be honest.”
“Guessin’ it helped. Therapy?”
“Yeah.” You nod. “It helped understand that I wasn’t actually an awful person like my parents would constantly remind me. My therapist was actually pretty cool.” Smiling at the memory, you continue, “She was probably the most understanding person I’ve ever met.”
“Studying at mine then.”
“Thank you.”
— —
“Do you want to have lunch with us?” Kaede is extremely excited as she approaches your desk.
You raise your brow. “Sure.” Before you can ask about her excitement, she drags you outside.
It’s a picnic. Nagisa and Karma are already sitting on the blanket. She sits before you, beside Nagisa and you. Her grip on your wrist drags you down after a few moments, nearly bumping into Karma as you adjust your sitting position. They talk between themselves as you watch Karma grab a chocolate-covered strawberry from one basket with a sparkle in your eyes.
“Want one?” You dramatically nod, and he holds it in front of your face, but moves it away when you reach for it. “Ah, bite it.”
“What?” Scowling at him, you wonder if it’s worth it to embarrass yourself. “Why?”
He sighs, “I’m trying to be nice.” Whilst waving it in your face.
Deciding to bite, you hold onto his wrist and pull the strawberry close to your mouth before taking a bite. Karma appears pleased, but doesn’t tease whilst Nagisa and Kaede are far too engrossed in their own conversation to notice.
“What else did you pack?”
“Cake!” Kaede exclaims, holding up paper plates with cake stacked with cream on top. “I made it, so tell me how it is!”
Your finger digs into the cream, and you hum as you taste it. “It’s good, Kaede,” you compliment, picking up the cake and biting down on it. “Did you make it last night?” Licking your lips, you place it down on the plate again.
“I did!”
Karma leans forward to study your face, and just as you open your mouth to question him, he pokes your face. “You’ve got cream here.”
“What?” Your jaw hangs slack when he cleans the side of your lip with his thumb. “Huh—What?” Brain frazzled, your gaze darts between the three. “Um.” Unsure of the situation, you slowly stand up.
Karma cranes his head to look at your retreating figure. “Where are you going?”
“Just remembered Korosensei needs me!”

2022
“Shut up,” you groan into your arm, face down on your desk. Rio has been losing her mind for the past 5 minutes, and you don’t dare to look up or in Karma’s direction. “It’s been years.” Barely mustering the courage, you move your head so you can see just over your arm.
“Hey!” Rio shouts and points at you. “We can’t hear you!”
“I’ve never seen you so embarrassed,” Karma laughs, loud beside you.
The whole situation causes discomfort as you stand, near enough rushing through the door out into the corridor. No one dares stand in your way. The hallway is silent, not much cooler than the classroom. Palms against your cheeks, you finally notice the feverish warmth all over your face. With your shoulder against the wall, you let out a heavy sigh.
Behind you, the door slides open, and your body stiffens. “Stop being a baby.”
“A baby?” You spin around. “I am not a baby! That stupid octopus is just—” He’s cackling at you. “Hey! Karma! This isn’t funny.”
“It is!” He can’t stop his laughter as he holds onto the door. “You’re so oblivious.”
“Am not!”
“You are!”
Unable to argue back, you huff and turn away with your back to the wall. He finally pulls himself together and leans down closer to you. “Stop pouting.”
Your brain wanders, trying to best him, but you’re stumped. “So, the octopus played cupid even after death.”
“Seems that way,” he chuckles, eyes wandering your face as you meet his gaze. “I think I was obvious, but you were oblivious.”
“I didn’t mean to.”
He shakes his head with a smile. “I think I’m owed a kiss for all my efforts.”
Your gaze flickers between his eyes and his lips. “I… I guess for your efforts.”
Just as you lean up, the door moves and he’s forced to hold it closed despite the obvious attempt at intrusion from the other side. He only has one hand free to hold the back of your head and pull you close, crashing his lips against yours. Eyes closed, your hands hold his jaw, and you can’t help but laugh into the kiss at the sound of him struggling to keep the door shut. When you pull away with wide eyes, you grow giddy at the sight of his flushed face.
“You should probably let them open it,” you suggest and motion to the door.
Suddenly, he stops holding it, and you both step back, watching as your peers fall on top of one another as they flood through.
Helloooo!!! I hope this finds you well. If you don't mind I would love to request headcanons of Karma Akabane. I was wondering if you could write what he would be like if his s/o broke up with him? And how he would act towards them afterwards. Of course, please take your time if you do decide to do it. Thanks so much in advance —and for reading, have a good day!!!
Hiii anon! You want some angst? I'll give you angst >:3
Karma Akabane HCs: Break-up Headcanons
Content includes: angst, breakup, emotional fallout, Karma being petty, hurt no comfort, closure (or lack thereof)
If the breakup was mutual/peaceful, Karma Akabane would still be civil with you, but choose to keep his distance from you.
Karma respects boundaries, so he'll give you space - no passive-aggressive remarks.
He'll act cool in public settings, cracking a few jokes here or there to act like nothing happened.
If the two of you happen to run into each other, he would still tease you a little bit, but not in a malicious way. It would just be his normal Karma-esque teasing, in a way to convey to you that there's no hard feelings.
No matter what, he would always keep whatever secrets you shared with him during the relationship safe. He would never air your dirty laundry or tell anyone the personal things you told him. He's too prideful to stoop to that level.
He wouldn't talk about the breakup much. If someone asks him about it, he'd be quick to deflect. But if someone really presses him for answers, he'll respond truthfully, but vaguely.
"Why do you care?" "That's old news." "We just didn't work out. We're cool."
Karma isn't the type to grovel or ask for another chance. He'll think about, but he wouldn't let it show. What happened is what happened, and it was time for him to move on.
If the breakup was bad/painful, Karma will grow cold.
This man will act like you don't exist. Expect the cold shoulder 24/7, smart remarks or complete indifference. He might even refuse to look at you.
Karma is the type of person to be vulnerable, so even if the breakup was hard on him, he'll act like it didn't affect him at all.
He would probably flirt with someone else around you, or act like he's having the time of his life.
Conversations after the breakup would be few and far-between, and pretty nasty. If you attempt to talk to him, expect an insult or two. He'll hit where it hurts - he knows your weak spots and isn't afraid to use them.
Karma holds grudges. Earning back even his basic respect would be a challenge on its own.
Apologizing or trying to talk things out while the hurt is fresh will likely end in Karma shutting you down.
"Don't pretend to care now. You made your choice. Live with it."
What do you think Karma would react if his s/o sat on his lap?
— 𝐔𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐘. 𝄪
notes. uh oh !! i hate him (i love him but AUGH he's so annoying)
OHMYGOD he's such an asshole.
he's probably the reason why you're sitting in his lap in the first place. you're about to sit next to him when he just pulls you and plops you down onto his lap.
or, you could've done this on your own.
probably makes a 'tsk tsk tsk' noise and shakes his head playfully. then proceeds to tease the life out of you.
makes eye contact. looooots of eye contact and an innocent-looking smile that's spouting (not-so-innocent) words.
does whatever it takes to get you flustered. if you try get up to leave, he just wraps his arms tight around you and buries himself in your chest.
or, you might not have the ability to leave in the first place. that's a definite possibility—he probably holds you in place with a very firm grip. he's strong, we all know this very well...
so, there's almost no chance of you getting to escape.
anyways, he's definitely surprised if you initiate this. he doesn't show it on his face, but if he had less control of his facial features, his eyebrows would be near the moon and his mouth would be in the core of the earth.
after he thinks he's done making fun of you (for now...) he'll probably give you a kiss. short, but lingering.
he's so unpredictable, though—there's so much he could do from this point.
he might suddenly stand up and throw you onto his back to give you a piggy-back ride. he might cradle you in his arms like a baby while continuing to make fun of you. he might toss you onto the couch and bury you with pillows (and kisses).
point is, he does soooo much to be extra and annoy you. but... he does let you know he loves you a lot !!
notes. guys i think i'm going crazy i have literally so many little dreamland scenarios in my head of all my favs. (they're the only thing that gets me through school so i don't want them to go i'll stay crazy)
i think i'm kinda getting back into the groove of things...
can somebody find that karma akabane oneshot (?) fic where his s/o is as confident, competent and kinda hot-headed as him? somebody humble too, like theyre rich rich and buy expensive things (the example shown was a watch) but they hide it and they dont rub it in that person? and theyre also soft and emotional but only when in the privacy of their own space, the example shown was an dead animal and the they wanted to burry it properly. i first found it in the akabane x reader tag.
