Charles is not popular. Akuma 6 was from the time when circus and murder arcs were the main kuro thing and people thought he was funny and cute in BOM, it was temporary hype and the fandom forgot he exists after that. Same with Vincent. Another sin is removing that wholesome Snake scene. Ciel basically told him to be proud of who he is and that he doesn't feel embarrassed to have him around. I know Ciel lied to him but I thought the scene was very nice in general.

About snake first: Yes, that was a very good scene, and it is a shame that they cut that out. I think the fact that O!Ciel tricked Snake into servitude is a very nice backstory that colours this scene you mention. It shows very well how O!Ciel is a multifaceted human being, who is capable of being cruel and kind towards one person; like real humans are. *coughs-toxic-love-etc.-etc.-cough*

If this ⇊ doodle by Yana is anything to go by, I think O!Ciel’s kindness towards Snake is genuine. It is a gorgeous reminder that scumbags can be kind at times too.

As for Charles Grey’s popularity. Though it was back in 2015, Akuma 6 is the latest official survey that was made with the largest number of participants yet... as such I would say that Akuma 6 is the most accurate reflection of characters’ popularity there is. Of course, the survey is limited to the opinions of participants in Japan, but Japan does have the largest number of Kuro fans in the world.

Without this survey however, the only thing that can determine the popularity or lack of popularity is fan reactions on social media like Tumblr. But still there is no way to tell, as there is such thing as very loud minorities, or very silent majorities.

A slightly more recent indication might be Yana’s own blog posts during White day in 2017. We can probably agree that Sebas really is the no.1 popular character. His White Day doodle received 43K likes, and Grey received 31K. Contrast this number of likes to less popular characters such as Finny and Meyrin, both receiving 24K likes.

I guess we have no choice but to admit Charles Grey is popular, for better or for worse.

I have been waiting for this scene to be animated, and this is just AWESOME! I always loved Lizzie, and I hated it when anime fans called her annoying and just cute. She’s one of the top (if not the top) fencers in the Kuroshitsuji universe. She even has a good duel against Charles Grey (my bae!!) in the Akuma Six extra chapter.

I also think the Campania scene is very thought-provoking: it made me ponder over traditional/Victorian gender roles and how Lizzie strives to be both a strong woman and an ideal Victorian wife. It makes me a little sad that she limits herself, even if it is out of her love for Ciel.

Also, I ship these two, even if I love Sebastian and Ciel’s dynamic. CielLizzy is my OTP. Besides, marriage between cousins was customary in Victorian times.

I really hope she sticks with the Ciel that we’ve come to know, instead of the “real” Ciel who’s probably behind all the murders at Sphere Music Hall.

I mean we got the timeline that we got based on reader's opinions during the poll, but imagine if Yana had to write the Akuma Six chapter with like... Ciel, Sebastian, Undertaker, Grell, Charles Grey and... The Funtom Unicorn.

It's okay if you don't want to reply but you're only neutral person with knowledge in Japanese that gives nice explanations. Is grelles confessional correctly translated? Some fans told me translated version is wrong and biased. And does Grelle from akuma 6 really want to turn into a woman or is that another fan doujinshi? Thank you for being respectful and unbiased.

You are giving me too much credit, I am surely not the only one ^^ @akumadeshitsumon for one is a learned academic in the field of Japanese (trans) gender studies.

By Grell’s confessional, do you mean the character guide book?

I don’t know how this book has been translated, so I cannot offer a comparison. But I guess you are more concretely asking whether Grell said anything about her gender in it? There was a part where she was asked whether she always uses **“Tranny Language” (onee kotoba ・オネエ言葉), and Grell replied that she is “a lady, and therefore using feminine speech at all times is only to be expected.”

TLN: “Tranny/Onee” is of course a slur, but as I explained before, (trans)gender studies evolved very different in Japanese society, but 10 years ago there was a lack of accurate terminology, hence this offensive use of term.

As for ‘Akuma 6′, this is the English translation I found.

In the original manga, Grell said the following:

“つまり  アタシが2位(そのガキ)のロゼットを手に入れれば、世界中の男がひれ伏すような艶女(アデージョ)になれると思っていいヨネ？”

“Tsumari, atashi ga ni-i (sono gaki) no rosette wo te ni irereba, sekaichuu no otoko ga hirefusu you na enjo (Ade-jo) ni nareru to omotte ii yo ne?”

“In short, if I manage to get the rosette of the second place holder (that brat), then I will be able to become a raving beauty (Ade-jo) before whom all the men in the world will prostrate, right?”

‘Ade-jo’ is a neo-word that is coined by NIKITA magazine, meaning ‘a mature and successful business woman with exceptional beauty’. Specifically, this term is used to distinguish more ‘mature’ women from ‘shoujo’ - glorified innocently young girls. In contrast to the ‘shoujo’, ‘Ade-jo’ are celebrated as women who have the experiences and skills that the younger girls do not have.

As such, it is indeed very ideal to be seen as an ‘Ade-jo’ for Grell, who is a reaper from a society where diligence is held in highest esteem. In this bonus chapter, Grell does not wish to become a lady, because she already is a lady as frequently stated in the canon manga. Instead, she wants to be upgraded into an ‘ade-jo’ specifically.
