CHEBOYGAN, MI – The Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office sought assistance from the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team to assist in locating Kaleob Joseph Stewart, 20-years-old, from Alanson and Michael Charles Martin, 20-years-old, from Mackinaw City, stemming from investigations by the Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement team.

“Martin was originally charged with delivery of a controlled substance and skipped town on this original charge prior to being arraigned and Stewart had been arraigned on delivery charges but left town and a court warrant was issued,” said Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont.

The Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department made contact with the Fugitive Team to assist in locating the two subjects who were eventually found in Lonoke County, Arkansas last week along with two women who also had warrants out for their arrest out of the Cheboygan courts.

Nicole Jane Mahar 21 YOA from Mackinaw City MI for violating her conditions on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and Courtney Sioux Gail Shiflett for violating her conditions on the charge of assault/restrict/obstruct a police officer. The Cheboygan County Prosecutor’s Office authorized extradition on all four.

The Sheriff said the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department is the officer for the courts and is responsible for extradition authorized by the Prosecutor’s Office. “Once we were informed of their arrests and that they waived extradition we sent two deputies to Arkansas over the weekend to transport them back to Cheboygan County where they were lodged Monday morning,” said Sheriff Dale Clarmont.

At this time they will be waiting on their court appearance.
