i have some thoughts on DEH characters

yk if you really hate Alana more than Evan you kinda have to check yourself. ngl i really disliked her myself (still kinda do but im trying not to) but if you’re like so many people in this fandom who brush her off because of what she did but still justify Evan’s actions then you really have to look into why you feel like that.

the story is about a teenager majorly fucking up. whether or not with malicious intent, you cant deny that his actions were immoral. the only reason he gets more sympathy than Alana is because it’s HIS story. you’re meant to empathise with the protagonist. 

i really love DEH because for so much of the story im just so uncomfortable with Evan. it’s one big o no bby what is u doin. also um Connor being abusive to Zoey is not talked about enough or maybe i haven’t been in this fandom long enough to find people talking about it.

so um yeah if defending Evan and Connor and ripping apart Alana feels right then idk what else to say because this is a show with deeply problematic characters and honestly you should be ripping all of them apart equally.

I’ve been in a really Arena Stage mood so I’m posting this audio because I honestly think it’s one of the songs that is way better in the Arena Stage version, and gives such a different look into the song.  The beginning solo is by far the superior version, and even though it does give the same vibe of the Broadway version, it makes it feel so much more personal hearing it all from Connor in more of a first perspective point of view.

Is This Just Me?

Or does anyone else want a fic that’s like after the curtain closes, where The Troupe is all still kinda standing there realizing they actually DID IT? Like they actually just performed “Spring Awakening” in their conservative AF town.

But like, then I want there to be a moment where Lilette is standing there with Robbie. And like he’s the only one who knows she’s moving and she kinda wants to keep it a secret a little while longer, cause like it’s opening night- and they were really good. She doesn’t want to ruin that. But when she tries to just leave without saying anything, Robbie stops her, tries convincing her to at least tell Simon. Reminders her of how she felt when he didn’t tell her he was leaving Stanton.

So she tells Simon, but everyone is still there and Jolene (Of Course) overhears her and announces it to the whole Troupe. So standing there on the stage, Lilette tells The Troupe she’s moving and she’s a mess and Robbie’s a mess and Simon is a mess and so is everyone else, because like they’re a family now and it’s like there’s a whole in their family now.

And Lou and Tracey are still there too. Lou had already decided he wasn’t going to ruin tonight for the kids- they’d done fantastic... why would he ruin that by telling them it was their first and last performance? And then Lilette tells them all that she’s moving, and they’re all upset about that, so who is he to make it worse?

Like I could write forever about this idea, but like I want a fic of it honestly.
