DEMOLITION MAN (1993) dir. Marco Brambilla
Sandra Bullock & Benjamin Bratt as Lenina Huxley & Alfredo Garcia
Does anyone else feel like Demolition Man got more right about the future than we could have predicted?
1) You got nostalgia culture:
Albeit in a somewhat different form.
2) People are more frank about asking for consent.
Which is a good thing, of course.
3) Celebrities entering politics.
They even got the celebrity right, if not the position.
4) Monopolies are taking over.
And I for one welcome our new Disney corporate overlords.
5) The health nuts and vegetarians are taking over, too.
They haven’t made meat illegal yet.
But those fuckers are working on it.
They’re coming for us.
6) There’s no toilet paper
Thank Covid-19 for that one.
7) And for the fact that people are avoiding physical contact.
Sigh…
8) Meanwhile, the rest of us are just watching like…
