FANFICTION #4: Alice x Bella
I don't like Twilight. I read all the books and watched all the movies just so I can tell people that I justified my reasons. I think Twilight gives a bad impression on love, making it sound like a 13 year-old in obsession (not love) with someone. (Mind you, I don't think people are stupid for liking it. It's merely my personal opinion. If you like Twilight, don't let me tell you what you should or shouldn't like!) Despite that, I have a confession to make. I am horribly addicted to Twilight fan fiction.
Just to Love Her by MissMonsters2 summary: "One jump down led to drowning, which actually led to Bella sinking to year 1920 where she meets pretty, young, proper, and cutely weird Mary Alice Brandon. Bella can't stop the past from playing out but choices and changes happen, which changes everything for Bella fast forward 86 years to the present. What changes? The place where Alice resides in her heart."
My input: I have this thing about time-traveling fics. I love them. Which is why I present this one to you. Perhaps you have read a few Twilight fics which include Bella and Alice knowing each other in their human life, then later meeting up again as vampires. Or perhaps vampire Bella meeting human Alice. This one, on the other hand, is Bella traveling back in time, meeting human Alice, slowly falling in love with her, meeting her family, living life, then being thrown back into the present, to vampire Alice (if you have read Twilight, you know that Alice has no memories of her human life).
What I like most about this work is the pace the relationship takes. I'm not very fond of quick instantaneous love unless its a story about finding a mate between two super natural creatures in an instant connection. The author takes her time to make them fall in love as humans. To show the dynamic of Alice and Bella living in the past and among family and friends. What I like more than that is the fact that Bella had her cell phone and was freakin' smart enough to take pictures before her phone ran out of battery. Nothing irks me more when a character "conveniently" loses the evidence in some way.
When Bella wakes up one day back in her own time, finding everything the way it was and with the Cullens back, she's pretty devastated. Alice is still with Jasper. What will she do? Will Alice remember? Will Bella show her the picture proof? I don't know because the story hasn't gotten that far yet, but read it!
