Lmao this doesn't fit the mood of your last drabble at all, but I like to imagine that Stiles is just being a hormonal teenager he is (alien, but still). There's a way to get him a new shell, it's right there on the control panel, but it'll take a while, and Stiles doesn't believe he has a place to return to, hence the dramatics. Until Peter, who finally learned what people mean by "fear boner", tracks him down and beats some sence into the teen (not literally; those teeth are a bit too scary).
Gee, thanks for making me think about it. So here, have a notfic rant about it.
Read the drabble here: Control
Of course there’s a way to create a new shell. It takes time, but it’s there. Stiles even makes one, but he doesn’t really want to use it. He said his goodbye to his father and his friends all think he’s dead. So he keeps going. He cuts a bloody swathe across the galaxy looking for answers and/or a place for his own.
Peter does find a way off the planet. Eventually. He figures, hey, if one species has been to Earth before, then the odds of another ship being around is pretty good. The first thing he does when he comes across the Sheriff drinking away his sadness over Stiles’ note is to drink with him and get the whole story. Then he goes walkabout looking for a way off the planet.
It takes a decade, but Peter eventually finds it. It’s a little cargo scow of questionable origin and make. It takes a lot of trial and error, but he figures out how to fly the thing. After that there’s no stopping him. He goes off after Stiles.
Stiles leaves bodies behind him like fallen dominoes, and that’s the trail Peter has to follow. He gets to be knows as The Wolf quickly once he’s touched down on a couple different planets and puts together Stiles’ pattern. Stiles is intelligent, resourceful, and a breed of alien that has no natural predators. If people are terrified of Stiles, then they’re wary of the guy voluntarily chasing after one of his kind.
He catches up, of course he catches up. Stiles puts down on some backwater to effect some repairs to his ship. They take longer than he’d anticipated, and it’s long enough for Peter to catch up. The ensuing confrontation levels trees and causes Peter’s little ship to explode. Peter takes a bite out of Stiles, his healing factor healing the burns as quickly as the acid creates them.
After that it’s Stiles and Peter against the universe. Peter learns about the shell Stiles created about fifteen years ago now, and tries to convince him to wear it. But Stiles likes what he is, likes his claws and teeth and how damn big and scary he is now. He’s not sure he wants to squeeze himself down into a shell again.
Especially since he’s not sure how to get out of the shell if he does. The Nogitsune had taken the old shell with it when it fled to get away from Stiles.
Peter points out that since the shell actually ages because it’s made of biological matter, that he’d look just different enough he could get away with a visit to Earth. A visit to his Dad. Stiles hasn’t had any luck finding his own race or any answers as to why his mother hid him on Earth, so maybe it’s a good idea.
Trying on the new shell is confining. Stiles feels cramped. Also, he’s damn short. He grumps about it until Peter gets sick of it and shows him all the glorious things he can do with this human shell that he can’t do in his true form.
So they slowly go back to Earth in a roundabout way. Blood and violence and sex and they become known and feared the Galaxy over. Then, twenty years after he left, Stiles sets foot on Earth soil again. Just in time to see his ailing father and say goodbye face to face.
