I wish Don Thousand had more stuff added to his personality and actions, of course being evil for the sake of being evil is fun... but something more deep going on would have been nice 🥲 sorry for the random rant, you seem the type of person who would want that too 👊😔 I need to rewatch to remember more clearly the reasoning behind everything, my memories are kinda foggy

ooooo no sorry, thank you for this! Yes, I agree. All the show does is paint Don Thousand as this Big Bad Villain when there is actually so many layers to his character. I guess a lot of the "deeper" meaning was left out either on purpose (so that is up to the viewer's interpretation) or, more likely, being Yugioh, they have to rush with production and things get messier and messier as the story progress lmao

I find Yugioh Zexal particularly brilliant because everything is connected to this one plot ("destruction of _____ World") and by the end, in the last few episodes, there is just.. so much! You have been watching the story from the point of view of Yuma and Astral, the Good Guys and Heroes.. and at some point, Astral's mission is revealed and he is supposed to destroy this other world because it's full of villains and then.. we get the Barian arc, although rushed, it shows that they were only humans, who got deceived, and are not actually "bad" and then.. we get Don Thousand and (from what I remember) the whole issue started with Astral World wanting to get rid of Chaos and Don did not agree with it, Astral was born then and made to fight him and "save" Astral World, which ironically started perishing without Chaos..

Don Thousand did use manipulation to get what he wanted and many have died because of him. He is a bad guy in that sense. And he also got sealed away from his own homeland due to, seemingly, not wanting to cooperate with Astral World's genocidal and eugenicist plans and like.. that's fair? What the hell really

I do not know if the writers intended things to go that way but it's probably the kind of thing that will go over your head on a first watch. I haven't watched Zexal properly in years too, but I do get some episodes here and there and, as of right now.. I do think Astral World, Astral, Eliphas, etc.. are the actual bad guys in that story! Heck, in the end Astral fulfilled his mission and did destroy Barian World (by "fusing" it back into Astral World). Don Thousand seemingly is not back, even though everyone was revived.. I think he's alive somewhere and it could explain all the mess left in Astral World when the series ended hahaha
