Thanks! I’m actually kind of impressed with myself too - it’s been at least a month since I’ve bought a physical book, maybe longer (I’ve somehow convinced myself that eBooks don’t actually count as buying books...?) 

But I saw ‘All The Bright Places’ and everyone seems to love that book and I was *this* close to picking it up, but then I remembered that it’s exam season and I don’t really have time to read it and I’ve got a massive tbr pile anyway

Reader Problems Tag

Uhm... I guess I would divide the books in genres. And then take it from one end of the shelf to the other depending on the genre I want to read. Or, more likely, I would just pick up a book depending on my mood.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

I quit. Maybe not intentionally and I may pick it up again, but I will most likely quit.

The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

By reading more and pick up thin books that's easy read. (But that day will most likely never come.)

The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

If I own them all I have to ignore it. If not I will look in second hand book shops and find the old covers. If it's halfway through a series I will have to ignore it or be stubborn and not buy the end of the series.

Everyone and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

I don't. I will try and find someone by tumblr or so, but I don't know that many people who read. I may complain to my sister, though.

You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

I close the book, find a Kleenex and hide my face behind my hair till I have to pick up the book again. But I will fight the tears and ignore it.

A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book?

Yes. Unfortunately.

You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

"Uhm, I would prefer not to"? My friends are pretty chill.

You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

I try to read a favourite or I pick up a book I've waited on.

There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

I buy books gradually as I read books and find new ones.

After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Preferable not so long. The last couple of months I've bought books without reading them, but I try to start them as soon as I buy them.

How did you first get into WtNV? And how do you picture Carlos's hair?

Okay, storytime below the cut!

How I first got into Night Vale? It all started the way so many stories start these days, I made a friend. It was a uni friend, to be more precise, and one out of the in all two people I felt a form of humanship with. Night Vale was one of the first things she told me about - no explanations given, only a vague idea of some small desert town, people without faces, magical clouds, ALL HAIL THE GLOW CLOUD, and gay[-ish] radio announcers. I never really stood any chance.

(She’s not as in to wtnv as she once was, leaving my and my other friend dangling in the hole in the vacant lot out back of the Ralph’s. For shame, uni friend, for shame!)

As for Carlos’ perfect hair? Well… It’s hard to say, dear listener, as hair has never really been my forte. I - at first - imagined a man (my mind first made him Indian, for some reason) with thick, dark, shoulder length, but otherwise Thor-ish loks. Since I have been through the buzz cut, after the barbarous Telly’s horrendous crime, short ponytails, waist long hair that Cecil loves to braid, and so on and so on. As of right now I am stuck with the Dylan!Carlos hair, as I love it beyond reason. That being said, I am incapable as fully accepting it as canon, due to Cecil’s early description of how our sweet scientist is greying slightly at his temples [episode 3 - Station Management]. Where to next I cannot say, but I am certain it will be glorious.

My questions

1. What is your all time favourite book and why?

This is such a hard hard question! Probably Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen because it was such a witty and ebbing read that it inspired me to expand into classics!

2. What is the first book you remember reading?

The Dog With the Wounded Paw by Brenda Dobling was the first book I read myself - I still have it!

3. Who is your most inspirational character?

Hermione Granger (original I know) because she wasn’t afraid to be smart, and even though her bossiness and sometimes seeming to consider herself intellectually superior are faults, she is still related to and accepted as a normal person, which is something I think books often take away from smart people. 

4. Which book would you like to write a sequel to?

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens or Pride and Prejudice by jane Austen…but then I wouldn’t do them justice…agghhhhh

5. What is your favourite book to movie adaptation?

Catching Fire by Susanne Collins - the movie is absolutely amaaaazing, much better than the first Hunger Games movie! Or Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, because although it wasn’t wholly accurate to the book, it captured the grey mood perfectly.

6. What is the last book you read?

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and it was great

7. What is the last movie you watched?

The Fault in our Stars

8. What genres do you read?

Anything! I am particularly in love with fantasy and tragedy…

9. What is your favourite book quote?

"Even the littlest people can change the world." - LOTR, J R R Tolkein

10. Do you enjoy classics?

I LOVE THEM THEY’RE MY FAVOURITES, because you enter a completely different world, it’s like fantasy, only for the author it’s their world, it’s just the normal place that they live and breathe in, so they introduce it in such a matter of fact way and it’s wonderful. 

11. How often do you read?

As much as I can, of course. Everyday, but those days can vary from one chapter to an entire book!
