“Another fragment…”
The machine typed back. The screen cleared, and began retyping.
“I am also the same. But I am known by the alias Data. Like some other fragments I have met, I seem to have lost my corporeal form. But unlike them, the fragments of my SOUL - or, as I assume it was - blew into every direction of time and space after being crushed by the CORE. Somehow, I lived on, as my consciousness collected itself within the data system that ran the CORE itself.
“I’ve ‘lived’ within this system of code since then. Since the monsters later returned to the surface, and technology was moved above ground, I was able to access the human world’s network as well. And, through it, see through the universe more than I ever had before.”
The screen cleared again.
“I’ve seen worlds begin and end. Do you know what that’s like? To lose yourself, and where you came from, in the infinite branches of realities, all different, all living their own unique experience - and yet all the same. It’s a very strange thing, to exist within everything, but outside it at the same time. I cannot be seen or heard, and I cannot directly interact with others…without the use of machines.”
The screen once again cleared, and then paused, with the white cursor flashing.
“My apologies for rambling, Tempus. I’ve spent countless lengths of time without interaction with others. Being silent so long, unable to speak, has made my social skills suffer. Now that I CAN speak, I wish to speak indefinitely.”
The screen cleared.
“But enough of me. What do you remember, Tempus?”
[♪ Data… Taking the Worn Journal out from his inventory, he begins writing down the name of the fragment and his unique characteristics. Fascinating,he thought. A fragment living on as coded data of technology.]
[♪ He did not mind the rambling text screen.the doctor looks on as he writes. Though, when the last set of text begins to form, Tempus’s face shifts.]
“Remember? Remember what? My life before the fall,or my life in the VOID? My answer is simple, I do not know. every part of my previous life has been wiped clean from my memory data. The only memories I have left are the ones written in my journals. From my birth until my fall, all of the monsters from the screen, mean nothing as my own data prevents me from recalling faces and names. All I know is that I am but an ex-royal scientist who met their fate… to be trapped eternally within the VOID.“
“My life in the VOID however… it’s questionable.I cannot tell how long I have existed within the darkness. The residents assume I could have recently fallen, but I deny such assumptions, for I have felt I’ve been here as long as any other gaster…? I just… know how to keep my raider hidden. All of my life is consistently caring for my own chick as I watch the world moving on from my monitors in my voidspace. My… NEST. Well… what used to be… it was destroyed by a dark entity. ~ ₍•ʚ•₎ ”
