I found the most accurate one for them
honestly I don’t think society can go anywhere now that dilfbur is canon
This is an Unus Annus quote and now I hafta cry fer a sec.
The Afterlife Trio + Ghostbur is just SBI + Tommy with a side of drugs. You cannot change my mind.
What Is Ghostbur?
idk if someone’s already said this, or if this is universally accepted, but I’ll say it anyways.
1. Ghostbur and Aliven’tbur existed/exist at the same time. 2. When Aliven’tbur talked to Tommy from the afterlife, he was very obviously not Ghostbur. 2.5. I don’t know L’manbur all that well, but in this interaction and while talking to Tommy in the afterlife, he seemed to have more of Vilbur’s attitudes. 3. Other dead characters (Mexican Dream and Jschlatt) do not have ghosts -- in the only fully canonical appearance of Glatt, he was “pulled out of the afterlife”.
My theory is this: When Vilbur was loosing his mind, the “good parts” of him left his body/died early. After he died, these parts were left behind as an echo of him and became Ghostbur.
Now, as a theory within this theory, I can go a step further and say that Ghostbur isn’t even a full person, but only these bits of personality creating the illusion of one, but then I start getting into consciousness and sentience and that doesn’t have to go along with the main theory anyways.
I’m not really qualified to tell if Aliven’tbur has regained these parts or not, but, theoretically, his “soul” could have re-combined with them on his way to the afterlife-- he could have pushed them out in a way that makes like, a separate cache for soul energy or whatever, and it is the empty space left behind/ghost/echo of that that we met.
Oh here’s a good idea: the world got used to there being two entities, so when only one joined the afterlife they made a second. This does all imply levels of purposeful self-manipulation that I don’t think Vilbur did, though.
The long and short of it: Ghostbur is the ghost of the parts of the “real Wilbur” that Vilbur lost.
I went through my notes and found this snippet, which isn’t explicitly about either c!Wilburbur or Ghostbur after death, but written with that in mind. Given that I’ve already written a fic for each of them in limbo/Jubilee, I don’t really feel motivated to turn this into a full concept, so have these five sentences:
Month Twenty-two It doesn’t feel real anymore. The days blur by and you aren’t sure you think anything at all.
Month Sixty You have a cold.
Month Seventy-Eight It doesn’t feel real anymore
Month Seventy-Nine You’ve said this before, but it’s truer now. Life after death is a fog. You can not sure if you can see through it anymore.
