You know what my worst part about getting old is? My own personal pain with the passage of time?

It is being a fandom elder and knowing so much fandom content is gone forever; blogs deleted, channels taken down, posts erased, that newer fans will never get to experience and my fellow elders don't even remember that something is missing. It breaks my heart knowing there were these beautiful works that inspired me and others that only continue to exist in slowly fading memories until the day that even there they will disappear as well.

Appreciate your fellow fandom creators, artists please don't delete your old art even if you find your old style cringe or lost your love of a particular fandom. You will never know if that scrap you erased wasn't a precious memory to someone else.

i get so torn up over the tlou soundtrack but one thing i noticed thats really biting me now is just how much 'all gone' is joel and ellies theme. nobody else. (its also the only theme that crosses over both games, which .... fucking ouch i guess) anyway i just kinda noticed that it never plays during any of abbys sections, and in the first game the motif feels like more of a general 'losing something' type of track that plays whenever somebody dies, usually, (sarah, sam&henry, etc) or when the game wants us to think they die (joel falling off the horse at the end of the uec chapter, ellie drowning in slc), then obviously at the hospital. i really dont know what im trying to get at but this melody is THEIRS. and i think it wouldve been so easy to give abby some 'all gone' tracks too, (though tbh she has her own versions of 'all gone', that being 'unbound' (WHICH ALSO PLAYS WHILE ELLIE IS DROWNING ABBY BY THE WAY. IN CASE YOU WANTED TO KNOW)) because its an instant feels button for anybody playing the game and it wouldve probably still hurt like hell even if they spammed that shit over and over but they DIDNT. and like UGHHHH im selling my soul to gustavo santaolalla

i dont talk about the tlou2 ost much (i should though ....) but the 'all gone' motif shows up in the following places:

when dina finds ellie and joel in the basement

when ellie is at joel's grave

right up at the end of the finding strings chapter

when ellie is back at st marys hospital

when joel finally tells her the truth

after abby and lev leave on their boat post final fight in santa barbara

every time ellie or joel are losing something this song plays and hooooly FUCK. i just really like that this belongs to them okay. sooooooo yeahh i guess something something ellie and joel something something
