when i first started my gold game, i chose it because i remembered ash's excitable little guy and wanted to have that travelling with me

(i didn't watch the rest of johto tbh i know the theme songs but i had to experience totodile's line myself)

and so as i traveled and beat my rival (who i can't remember's name, i can't remember what i called him haaa probably ???) and his flowerbeast and i found that totodile was really fucking strong

as it evolved from tiny cute croc to a caveman looking thing, while the design shouldn't have appealed to me (i was a smooth and sleek child) all i saw was my strong and proud Surfer!!!!

his name was Surfer!!!! and i have more or less named every totodile after him that

because he could surf

anyway and then he evolved into FERALIGATR and i saw him and thought

"wow

i'm going to kick EVERYONE'S BUTT"

and then i did because feraligatr is legit perfect
