This is just a what if scenario… but, what if, when a gem is totally broken beyond repair — like the gem army — their “resources”, their “light” is returned back to the soil? Now, that’s just a theory, because what if that could also explain the strawberry field? A gem’s light can be used to restore “drained” planets because that’s basically what they are. We never saw the list with Sherlock’s drugs in TAB. We never saw John’s letter to Sherlock in TST. Mary gave Sherlock a drugged paper that had him pass out and remember a flashback from his childhood. John reads a very OOC letter from Mary.

All those notes we never see, that are not what they seem to be...

The only note we ever see is the one Faith/Eurus brings to Baker Street in TLD. But she wasn’t really there. No one saw her; not Billy, nor Mrs Hudson, nor Mycroft and all the CCTV of London.
