You may have been born to be a hunter, but your heart was never quite in the family business. It was led by more artistic pursuits—anything that brought your imagination to life, you sought out; painting, sculpture, you've even tried poetry for a time. But if there was one thing you loved more than your art, it was your childhood sweetheart, sardonic and stubborn as she was. You knew she would always have secrets, but you were content to let her have them if it meant spending the rest of your lives together—you were like puzzle pieces, the two of you just fit. Until the day everything fell apart. While your family was fairly supportive of your artistic pursuits, there was always the assumption that one day you would set aside the paint brush and pick up a rifle. After university, you had made the decision to humor them for one hunt, but that decision would cost you everything. Your sweetheart, the mother of your infant daughter, was horrified and outraged by the news, and in the argument that ensued you came to find that she was one of the creatures your family had sworn to hunt—a witch. You left on that note, going out on what should have been a routine hunt with your family now with conflicting feelings, only for things to go sideways fast. Separated from your family in the middle of nowhere, with a fresh bite and thought to be dead, your old life was over but your new one is just beginning.
