Dear Peter, He had better be treating you right. Is he paying attention to you? Father is a damned fool — you should see him in my time! What a rigid [a line is scribbled out]. He likes to think that he's still as spry as he was in the seventeenth century, but I have to disagree. Kick him in the knee, remind him of his age! Of course, I should tell you to respect your elders. I do not think I will. —Captain A.F. Jones
Dear Captain Alfred Franklin Jones,
Yes, he’s treating me right. He pays me lots of attention, he says he’s going to start teaching me how to build rockets and how to swim with my floaters, and all of that sort of stuff. I can’t wait, it sounds like it’ll be awful fun.
And dad isn’t a fool, he isn’t — he’s a lot better now. Did you know, I got him a pair of pants underwear for Father’s Day, and he says that he likes them enough!
I don’t think that I will kick him in the knee, that might hurt him.
But I’ll draw a picture of you kicking King George’s knee if you’d like.
