Normally I don't post PMs, but this is an exception and it doesn't violate privacy in any way. (Warning: TL;DR)
I understand that some of my fans miss AWFUL GAMES, but I had very good reasons to end it. I explained it in a couple of videos last year, but I guess some people have short-term memory.
1) It ran its course. The idea of the show came from the gimmick of "swearing and getting pissed off at bad video games" that was popular back in the day. But that gimmick started to get redundant. I tried doing new things with the series, but they were met with mixed reactions. For example, not everyone likes dragged out storylines in reviews. And I felt that doing the same thing over and over again with the same or similar catchphrases gets tiresome after a while. I didn't want my reviews to be a chore to make. I wanted my reviews to be fun to make. And by 2011-2012, AWFUL GAMES was starting to become a chore.
And let's be real here. Profanity in general is not funny. If you think it is, you must be a child or a pre-teen. Cursing was meant to be used if there is something that really pisses you off and you really wanna get something off your chest, not as a gimmick. When you're an entertainer and you're COMPLETELY dependent on profanity and vulgarity, there's a problem. Profanity can be funny depending on the context. Humor is humor and jokes are jokes. If you wanna be funny and tell jokes, think of something clever and, of course, actually be funny and tell a joke. Don't depend on a gimmick. Look at stand-up comedians. Although they are vulgar, their jokes for the most part are actually funny. They don't just swear and try too hard to be edgy, although there are SOME "comedians" that try to do that.
Don't get me wrong. I can tell jokes. I can be downright hilarious. But my jokes are usually a response to something. And the response would usually be something witty, sarcastic, clever or just downright silly. You might discover this when I comment on other people's videos.
2) I wanted to branch out. To diversify. I wanted to concentrate on other types of videos related to the topic of gaming. I also created another channel (AllieRX2) to make content based on topics not gaming-related. If I stuck with AWFUL GAMES and BOOTLEG SHIT and made them the main attraction, I would be overshadowed by other so-called "angry" reviewers who are more popular than me (I think you know who I'm talking about). I didn't want that. I wanted to escape that, and ending AWFUL GAMES in 2012 was the perfect time since the internet in general stopped giving a shit about the angry reviewing fad by then.
That's why I created The Allie-RX Show. In that series, I review awesome games, pretty good games, ok games, pretty crappy games, and sometimes absolutely terrible games. And starting with Season 2, it won't be just reviews of a single game. I also plan on doing VS. videos (like the upcoming Smash Bros. episode) as well as covering a single topic related to gaming (such as Achievements and DLC).
In short, I ended AWFUL GAMES because I wanted to evolve. Times were changing and I was changing as well.
I hope everyone understands now. I don't wanna leave my fans in the dark. And to those who understand me and support me, thank you so much. It means a lot.
My rant on Google+ and YouTube forcing it on YouTubers!
Yes, folks! We finally did it! We made it to 5,000 subscribers!
As Daniel Bryan would say, "YES! YES! YES!"
Here's an update video with some big announcements!
Me in anime form. Above is the space theme (which will be used next year), below is the camo theme (which I use today).
Allie-RX is back with a vengeance!
Back with another review.
In today's episode of The Allie-RX Show, we take a look at Batman: Arkham Asylum. The very first installment in the Arkham franchise.
Hope you enjoy!
Part 3 of my Let's Play/Playthrough/whatever of Q.U.B.E. for the PC and Mac.
I finally passed the level I got stuck on. Then I got stuck on another level later on.
Enjoy!
