HI MIV ILY so for requests would love to see my girl Valerie in your style! Also especially for your divided au stuff I was wondering what your creative process is like?

Anyways... Here she is!! I tried out a new coloring style with the hair and clothes and made her a bit chubby since I think she looks really soft and cute that way.

Now, for my Divided AU creative process? It really depends on the type of story and world you want to create, but for my Divided AU specifically? I try to start out simple then make things more interesting as time goes on.

A cool thing I like to do with my YHS AUs is that I try to come up with different reasons for why things are the way they are, instead of just fixing all the issues I see, and making things more "realistic" in my eyes.

For example, most of the YHS characters have unnatural hair and eye colors as main parts of their designs. Instead of saying "They just dyed their hair" or "They just have eye contacts" what if I made up some cool lore for them instead?

For example, in my Divided AU... Similar to how people from certain regions have blue eyes, the people in (Divided AU) Asia tend to have red colored eyes. The reasons for this are still under lots of debate, but the most popular theory is that back in the Crimson times (a made up term for some lore I'll explain in the future) the air and natural environment used to be constantly polluted with Redstone, especially in parts of East Asia and SEA. Due to how versatile it is, Redstone was often used to power machinery, serve in the place of wiring and even be used to treat injuries when medical supplies and potions were scarce.

With its most popular use was to treat temporary blindness.

Using this as an example, I managed to hit two birds with one stone:

1. I gave a reason as to why some of the Asian characters (like Valerie, Yumi and D! Alec) have unnatural colored eyes.

2. I created more world building.

And that's it! I literally just made this all up on the spot. Just start out simple and everything will connect in due time. And when it does, it's going to be magical.

But I'm still just a new writer lol, so just take my words with a grain of salt

Evan YHS Thoughts

HI THANK YOU THAT MEANS A LOT TO ME!

If I’m being completely honest Evan isn’t a character that’s on my mind a whole lot compared to the other characters. He’s the closest thing we’ve got to a regular good going guy. Simultaneously he’s immature (most teenage boys are tho) but willingly to put the work in when it comes down to it. Even though he’s pretty bland and makes little of an impact on the overarching story he’s very cool in theory.

I like the band thing he’s got going on, like he’s actually got a hobby he’s passionate about and it’s something he’s good at. Like I think we moved past the whole “yeah I played replacement for a semi popular band” we know his dad owns a pizza place and he’s Funnehs secondary love interest. That’s kinda it?

So here’s some outside info or how I personally see him that could elevate his coolness imo:

First off I love love the idea of him having an immigrant parent(s), and also possibly being a child of divorce. I’ve mentioned this before, how much of a fan I am of foils and Evan is not exception. What it seemed like to me in YHS is was there was in attempt in season two to create a very clear dichotomy between the love interest gold and Funneh were meant to have. What I think would have been fitting was rather than

Evan’s life being completely good and go lucky he did have a rough start and just went about dealing with it in a different way, him and Alec having rough circumstances but slight differences occur that they still end up in different places. So I propose him being a child of divorce, I can imagine his parents being hippies who met abroad and like traveling, at some point they have a kid and financial struggles hit so their marriage turns sour. Unlike Alec’s parents however, Evan’s divorce, overtime tension has subdued and he still manages to have a healthy dynamic with both. I think having some sort of dysfunctional background would add something to his character especially with the juxtaposition created with current circumstances with Alec. Also was watching sad Lisa Simpson edits (as one does) and the line “music always sends a chill down my spine” really resonated with me especially in relation to Evan. I’m sorry most musicians are like depressed and filled with angst I don’t make the rules.

I suppose I can’t talk about Evan without mentioning the love triangle (loud sigh), Fevan is great but I feel about them they way I do about most YHS relationships and that is, how many highschool relationships statistically make it? He kinda love bombs her and he brings up a kiss in a weird way once it had already passed but compared to other characters crimes that still makes him a saint. I wish we got a little more build up in their relationship especially when he was painted as being this better option but I digress. I think his whole potential contrast with Alec can exist without their entire dynamic consistently solely relying on Funneh and the love triangle. Side note that I can’t not mention is Evlec was like one of the first mlm pairings in the fandom and paved the way for things today so big shout out to them. I do think because he is the way he is though you can ship him with legit anyone and it would somehow make sense and be healthy, big claps for him.

I think Evan’s gonna go do some pretty great things in life, it’s probably for the best he never got too tangled into the web that is Yumis antics. Also can I just say “I got sold to exiled angels” fic would go SO hard. (That is a wip I have, we will see if it ever gets done). Sorry this one isn’t that profound, Evan’s a tricky character for me because we don’t know too much about him and he doesn’t have much depth, regardless thank you for your question it makes me happy to get to talk about this stuff!!

Do you have any thoughts/headcanons on Kyran? Or his family.

HELL YEAH I DO.

YHS Kyran Yap

Kyran is a bad person, along with a majority of the cast but I digress. He's a very realistic take on a teenage boy, even though I don't think he's a great person it does make for him an interesting character. Kyran is a person who wallows in their sorrow, he probably believes in the male loneliness epidemic and I get that they wanted to fulfill some tropes with him and gold relationship but it simply comes off as creepy on Kyrans part, he doesn't know how to take a hint and is unjustifiably jealous and possessive over her.

He is willing to overlook "bad" actions if its done for the sake of love (cough cough stalking). Now I do think this comes from being bullied as a kid and then latching on and creating a codependency with Alec—the only person who showed him kindness—that relationship being resulting in more issues. One of the major problems I have is we don't get much information on why he likes Gold in the first place, I've said it before in reference to Falec, Kyran just likes the idea of this "perfect" dream girl. Kylec is one of my indulgences because these two actually know each other to some extent, they've seen each other through the bad and awkward especially when we're talking about male friendships and relationships. Also that christmas scene in the snow was just oozing with homoerotic tension, I think its the most flat out we get of Kyran attempting to rekindle their flame and Alec shutting him out, most likely a reenactment of what led to the fallout in the first place.

As for his family, he's got pretty much the best ones in the show. From what we get to see this is a home that is loving and accepting of their kids, Kyran does kinda suck but hey first born are kinda the testing kid are they not? I like Lucas he's a lovable dork, I think he and Funneh would get along great, in fact early S1 Funneh and S2 Lucas feel like nearly identical characters—both infatuated and concerned with how they appear and are perceived—with their shared goal of having popularity, its nice. A detail I like about his siblings too is they actually do feel like siblings. As much as I like the Grenchbulls and Aly + Alec their actual scenes together are pretty weak at times.

Actually, I believe I've talked about it before but i'm a huge huge fan of foils. So naturally if you put three sets of siblings all in series, I can't not compare them, right? I've looked and thought a lot about Alec + Aly, Kyran + Lucas. Alec and Kyran have this conflict and are unable to truly resolve what ripped them apart while their siblings are able to move on and be friends. There's this beauty in older siblings often carrying a burden, a third parent they are called at times and it's almost expected for them to look after those younger, we add gender expectations on top of that and the weight is even more so. You could say Alec is embodies traditional masculinity more so than Kyran does, he's the breadwinner—man of the household—putting food on the table. Kyran even being a farm boy is shown to be cowardly and weak. Alec and Aly have an estranged dynamic with their parents, Kyran is often doted on and lives in a healthy home. There's a multitude of juxtapositions scattered throughout these characters and thus the relationships they carry which I appreciate greatly.

TLDR: Kyran sucks but it makes him human
