THAT'S COOL I always thought of Billy as the chorus character, but I can see Silver in that way too
I feel like the role of narrator/choir shifts a lot throughout the show. At times it’s Billy or Silver, at other times it’s minor characters like Ben Gunn (who serves primarily as a silent witness to the actions of the characters in S4) or Israel Hands (Silver’s feral little shoulder devil), but I don’t think there’s a consistent chorus character. And I think it’s a loaded phrase anyway, because some of the time the characters are trying very hard to cast themselves in that light (Silver), whether or not it’s accurate/honest.
My dad specifically referred to the scene in 104 where Silver throws Flint the butcher’s knife—he doesn’t put himself in danger, he doesn’t take any sort of radical action, he just “makes a suggestion.” He’s going to lose his mind when early S2 rolls around and Silver literally starts narrating the “goings on” of the ship.
