Hello! I'm sure I can come up with some!
So firstly I don't think either of them would choose to be parents, persay.
But also I doubt they'd run away if the task were to fall upon them.
So it's likely that find a child that needs them.
Actually now I like the idea of Alphinaud returning from Garlemald with a tiny wee one tucked into his coat because no one had wanted to claim this baby so Alphinaud had planned on bringing them back to Eorzea to find them a home since they're not Garlean (my brain is presenting a tiny Viera but really any child)
Estinien: Uh, what is that?
Alphinaud:... Okay so listen!
The original plan is definitely to adopt the baby out to people who actually want a child, who have lives that can support having a child, etc etc
Except it takes a while and by the time people are starting to come forward, the two of them are attached and uh, too bad I guess, their kid now.
Alphinaud is the primary caregiver. He's easily panicked and read every damn book on child rearing AND THEN begged for tips from both his mother and F'lihaminn, so he gains some amount of confidence with the necessary tasks to care for a baby.
Estinien on the other hand, for the longest time won't hold the baby. He's absolutely terrified of hurting them. Terrified he'll drop them or they'll cry and he won't know what to do. He barely remembers his own parents anymore, he was raised by the army, by the former Azure Dragoon, and is self aware enough to know that while it served him well enough, it wasn't the best upbringing.
But he brings Alphinaud everything that's needed and is quite happy to interact with the baby as long as they're in a basket or someone else's arms.
Once the baby gets a little bigger, a little less breakable, Estinien gets more involved.
This kid grows up so loved and protected. They also get taught young about how violence can be used to protect but it can also be used to harm and crossing that line can be easily done so you need to pay attention to situations before you choose violence.
Estinien, surprisingly, is amazing at bedtime stories. He has the best stories and tells them well
Alphinaud frets over every hiccup, scraped knee and fever
The kid is given the Leveilleur name, because Alphinaud knows how well it opens doors in life.
Estinien is BANNED from taking them to Radz at Han until the kid is in double digits. So he brings Varshahn to Sharlayan again to meet his kid.
Speaking of, once he's over the fear of hurting the baby, Estinien 100% turns into one of those "Have you seen my kid??? I have 20 pictures of them in my wallet, take a look!" Type of dads.
They choose to raise the child in Sharlayan because of its removal from danger.
