All of my schools have what I used to think were spherical sculptures with scale-like etchings. The smallest is twice the size of a basketball, the largest almost too large to carry. One day, shortly after stepping on the giant hornet, I realized what they were. I stopped dead in my tracks in the hallway, staring at it, perched on a stand next to the fish tank by the shoe lockers, then rushed to the teachers' room. "What is that?" They looked. They stared at me for quite some time. "Gold...fish?" So now every time I leave that school, I think of how stupid those women thought I was.
