I also officially dedicated my guitar and violin to lord apollo
Altar space ✨️
Welcome home Apollo, Nyx & Dionysus!! I wanted to get Hermes today too but they didn’t have any of his statues in yet lol.
Update on the altars!
Cleaned and ready for the new month! ✨
Once I finish my recent set of Theoi drawings I'll print them and put instead of the pics I have now. So they all will be in one style and size ⭐
The chthonic altar is on the other side of the table:
Altar Update!
Moved my altar from the top of my dresser to a two tiered table out between the kitchen and living room. I like it so much better now!
Statue Substitutes!
Hello everyone! I noticed a big topic if discussion amongst us is whether or not we need to have statues, looking for ones that arent so expensive, etc. I personally believe that you do not need to have a statue to worship a God because if that were so many of us would be unable to worship! Many of us, including myself, cannot afford a good quality statue for our altars and homes, and some of us cannot have them as freely open worship is not a possibility! What I hope this post gets across is that you do not need to own a statue to have good representation of a God and that some of these substitutes could also be used very discreetly!
The first substitute that I'm going to mention is avery basic and many of you have probably heard of this or done it, but printing out a photo of the God or Gods you want to represent is a great and cost effective way of representing them on your altar or in your home! If you do not have a printer at home many libraries have cheap printing, normally it's less than a dollar, especially for one color photo, and then you could get a frame at dollar tree for a dollar! You could also put herbs in the frame that correspond with that deity, and you could also paint on the frame and add other decorations if you wish!
The next is kind of like the previous one mentioned as it's making a collage! I actually did this for Apollo as he is my patron so I could have a small altar while at college since I live on campus while going to classes! Again you can get a frame for a dollar and then either find cutouts of magazines, print of your own pictures, or use scrapbook supplies! My college has one dorm building that holds craft nights and this is where I made my Apollo representation! It was supposed to be a DIY white board, as you can use picture frames for that, but I just made mine dedicated to Apollo!
The next is also very cost effective as it costs $2-3 depending on what you want to get, essentially what this is is I found a cute little bird decoration that reminded me of Aphrodite, and I placed it on top of a tall tealight holder (both were found at dollar tree) so it was elevated! It's kind of hard to explain so that's why I'm putting a photo!
Another thing is places like dollar tree also sometimes sell things that look like mini statues (not of people normally) but I found this cute little seashell mini statue that works perfectly on my altar and if I needed to be discreet it just looks like a decoration that could be just placed on a desk or table to look pretty! (There was also a starfish one as well that I could totally see going for Poseidon!)
And if all else fails, you could totally just use different knickknacks you already own that remind you of the Gods! So if you cannot spare any money this works and if you have to be discreet you wont be questioned for something you already owned!
