I'm Pro Curse, Let's Talk About It

Note: I don't put up with harassment for my ideas and opinions. You can disagree all you want, but don't harass me. Some people are pro curse and other people are anti curse, that's alright

This post is mostly a ramble about what being pro curse is to me and what role it plays in my practice. No, this is not to say that cursing is for everyone. But it's just a little ramble cuz I wanted to talk about it, since I haven't yet

What Curses Do I Do?

Not all curses are the same. My curses are focused on not letting someone escape their actions until they become better or making them feel regret for their actions. Also baneful wards where if you mess with me, it'll fight back. Stuff like that. I don't do curses that are made to affect unrelated areas of the target's life, I don't do "step on a Lego" curses, or anything like that. It feels pointless to me. That doesn't mean it's pointless to everyone though; I don't judge other's practices, this is just for me.

What Curses Have I Done?

Mostly regret curses. A lot of people have done really shitty things to me or my friends so I curse them with heavy regret. It's not the strongest of curses, but it's intensity works just fine for me

I also have several baneful wards so that if you curse me, you get it sent back with a nice boost

Why Do I Curse?

I curse to stop people from wanting to mess with me or, more often, to get them to change. You can't act better and stop hurting people if you don't regret it which is why I focus on regret curses so heavily. Sometimes I curse to cut someone off from the source of their power. If their power is having mean girl esque friends to support them, then maybe their friends have a change of heart. Or maybe, in a bit of a meaner way, their friends treat them the way they treat others. Karma's a bitch, ain't she?

Have you ever cursed to ruin someone's life?

Sort of. Once. There was this one guy who was emotionally abusive (and we'll leave that story there) and I cursed him so that he would never forget what he did to me, he would never forgive himself, and he would age to over a hundred and two living with that. Even if he got dementia, he would live with it. Forever. Or until I forgive him, that way if he actually changes, he gets a bit of a backdoor. But I don't see that happening any time soon and I hope he suffers with his regret to be honest because he was such a bastard.

Look, I try to be the essence of nice, respectful, and kind. But I can only take it for so long. You fuck with me badly enough or mess with my friends, and I can and will have something nasty cooking. There is a point where I don't give a fuck about being nice anymore.

But you don't have to worry about that! I don't curse strangers on the Internet and I don't curse unless you like really push me to the point of no return

Thinking about the sheer amount of “therapy “ I get as a counseling student.

For context, I'm a graduate level counseling student and I also see an actual trained professional therapist on my own and like in many other medical professions, we practice on each other.

So that means not only do I get to reap the benefits of professional therapy, I also get to reap the benefits of basically free therapy from a bunch of future therapists

I need to constantly remind myself that the Gods love me, despite my lack of active practice.

My ADHD and executive dysfunction have gotten pretty difficult to deal with and every day, I walk past my altar with both guilt and praise. I love Them, but I just can't physically bring myself to practice my worship, nor do I feel like I have enough to offer to Them.

The love between us is there, but the kharis is not. At least, I don't think so?

How can I build Kharis between myself and the Gods when my mind is so busy and I can't bring myself to Them? I do offer them the usual incense and my thoughts and very, very brief and quiet prayers (when I'm able to), but I feel like it's not enough. They deserve so much better, and I'd love to give Them so much more.

I wish the Gods would give me the strength to fight this block so I could physically love them and to give them their offerings, even if it's something small.

I also feel like it's not fair for me to pray for Their blessings and give so little in return. Doesn't exactly build much kharis, you know?

At least, I can offer my love to Them! ...if that counts?

'Godspousing' and the problem with polytheism of the now

The revival of polytheism is a revival of the ancient truths of our ancestors. This is doubtless. However we have taken the polytheism of our ancestors, and we have forgotten all of the rites and rituals which made it work and an actual belief system.

Instead, we have replaced it with hedonistic views of the Gods, a completely unfounded method of ritual and a lack of morality. This is a complete violation of the natural order and the honor of those gone before us.

A place in particular where this is increasingly common is in the phenomenon of 'Godspousing', where someone will, due to some type of 'mystical' experience, proclaim that they are in a relationship with a deity. They will do things like treat the deity as they would their husband or wife, and act as if the deity is on the same level as them due to their 'mystical' experience. I have even seen people who will 'offer' their own sexual pleasures to the deity they are 'espoused' with and their bodily releases.

It's shocking how distasteful and downright disrespectful this is. Not only does this completely anthropomorphise the Gods as simply beings made of some type of "spiritual matter" whom have debaucherous desires when they are the SUSTAINERS OF THE COSMOS. Having a deep connection to a certain deity is fine, but when you begin to just blatantly perform transgressions like offering your bodily products to the deity, and be delusional by romanticising the deity as someone with whom there is mutual feelings between you and them, or having inappropriate thoughts of them, you just crossed the line and have begun to just simply disrespect the Gods.

And quite simply, this is the problem with modern day polytheism. So many people going into it are going into it without ANY knowledge of the religion itself and are seeing it as some sort of antinomian counterculture to Christianity where you can practice and believe however and whatever you want, when it is an incredibly ancient set of belief systems whom never even interacted with Christianity for most of their history. They are failing to deconstruct their views on a personal, completely immanent and human god for the actual belief and due to their want for things which would be against Christianity, this lack of deconstruction manifests in sexualisation of the Gods.

Not only this, but the only interaction or education they will have had with Polytheism prior would be their 10th grade studies of religion textbooks and Percy Jackson, which obviously are unreliable sources that don't explain things properly.

This is why we, as people who are reconstructing Paganism and are actively promoting it, must educate these people on their errors and give them sources and things to read, so that they do not approach the faith wrongly and end up giving us all a bad name, because if we do not, Polytheism will not advance, our work to bring these faiths back into the realm of serious world religions will be effortless, and really, the 'religion' which supplants the culture, rites and rituals of our ancestors and which MADE polytheism what it was will simply be another gentrified, sensationalised trend which will die out in a matter of a few decades like we are seeing with multiple other religious revivals.

Please, comment on this. Our religions have a right to being taken seriously, they must be rekindled and roar like they did during the lives of our ancestors in antiquity, and the lack of education in some spheres is damaging to us all, no matter how much you distance yourself from it and claim it isn't our problem because we're doing it right. It's because of the fact we do it right, that it is our obligation to treat it as our problem.

Conquering the Fear of Divine Absence

There will be moments on your path where silence feels heavier than presence. You may pray, meditate, offer, and wait, and still feel nothing. No warmth, no sign, no whisper in the dark. It’s easy to start doubting yourself, to wonder if your deity has turned away, or worse, if they were never there at all.

There are rare moments when I do strongly feel, see, or hear Hades and those moments are sacred beyond words. They remind me that He is indeed real, alive, and near. But they don’t happen every day, and that’s okay. They are not meant to. The connection isn’t built in fireworks; it’s built in quiet, steady devotion.

Daily meditation has helped me more than anything else. Sitting down, breathing, and simply opening a space for Him, without forcing, without expectation, changes everything. The key isn’t to chase an encounter, but to cultivate presence. Even when He feels absent, I keep that space open, and somehow, He fills it in His own way.

I’ll admit, I used to be impatient. I almost forced something to happen desperate to feel Him, desperate to prove the connection was real. When it didn’t happen, I would lose faith and spiral into doubt.

But over time, I realized something deeper was going on. My impatience came from my own abandonment wounds, the fear that if I couldn’t feel Him, He must have left me, too. That realization changed everything. When I stopped projecting that fear onto Him and simply let Him be, my bond with Hades became stronger, gentler, and more authentic than ever.

If you’re in that place of silence, please know this: your deity has not left you. Absence is not rejection. It’s often an invitation, a chance to grow trust, to find the sacred in stillness, to know that faith does not depend on constant proof.

Cherish the rare moments when they do come, but don’t let the quiet break you. The bond is still there, even when unseen. Sometimes the gods speak most loudly through the silence, waiting for us to listen, not with our ears, but with our hearts.
