the problem with writing meta is that it’s easier than writing fic. writing fic takes 100x as long but allows you to explore the same ideas as meta.
all my lovely followers have permission to bop me on the head when i’m posting lots of meta and instead tell me to go write (or ask me what i’m writing that relates to the meta i’m posting) because otherwise i’ll satisfy myself on having said what i want to say on a topic and not put all those interesting gnarled things into stories.
#i'm not even joking#for me it's about communicating ideas and emotions#and there are 100000 ways to do that meta included#but meta is short and succinct and writing does something else#i like both but i get impatient with meta and write it and post it quick#writing needs to marinate most of the time so it needs me to keep coming back to the same sticky feeling#writing especially happens when the thoughts are too ill-formed or too complex to write into meta#so narrative becomes the only way to express them#alternately...#maybe i just need to reread and find flaws in my own meta?#dissatisfaction is what urges me to write#or i should go seek out others' meta that i find disagreeable lmao#that would do it#don't argue just write 😂#anyway#phyn vs. writing
