This is the first January in four years a that I am not returning to Guatemala. I miss my Los Andes family dearly. I hope to return for longer when my Spanish is better (maybe Christmas?!). So many hands have shaped the food we eat over the last 10,000 years, and so many hands in this year alone have helped produce all the living, breathing, storied seeds you can grow in your yards, gardens, and farms next year. Today, students from Cedar Crest College helped out as part of their weeklong alternative break. We filled Truelove Seed packets while telling seed stories and we cleaned seeds of Wood Betony, Catnip, Vietnamese Cilantro, Lettuce Leaf Basil, and Speckled Brown Butterbeans. The wind was perfectly intense for dramatic and effective winnowing demos! Grateful for the help and good company.
