regardless of your answer, i hope you have a wonderful fathers’ day. My friend, Mohammed Alwan, is also a father. Here is his words on maneuvering fatherhood in Gaza right now:
“On my behalf and on behalf of every father exhausted by war, unable to provide a loaf of bread for his children...
We write these words with our hearts heavy with grief, and our faces wet with tears of helplessness.
We are not helpless because we didn't try, but because war has stolen everything from us: security, livelihood, and the ability to feed our children, whose only sin was being born here, in an unforgiving time.
To those who hold the power, and to those who hold what is necessary to sustain life:
Save what remains of our humanity, for hunger is an infidel, and a child does not understand politics and cannot bear hunger.
This is a cry from our hearts, the cry of every father who sees his children starving and has nothing but prayer...
Is there anyone who will answer?”
IMohammed’s daughter, Sabaa, recently came down with a condition that has turned her face yellow. Baby Sabaa now needs hospitalization at the children’s hospital which will cost her parents at least $100. Where can you get $100 when you can’t even afford a loaf of bread to eat ?
Please. Answer mohammed’s plea for help with your generosity. Think about your own children or the children in your life. Would you be okay with watching them slowly disappear from hunger ?
