1: he's telling cassandra, at knifepoint, about a private moment between hawke and anders that unless he was hiding under the bed he most definitely was not there for 2: justice is canonly kind of obsessed with the concept of love. he is in love with the idea of romance. he literally in awakening tells you how fascinating he finds it and how he kinda of wants to experience it for himself. he asks you to help him talk to aura bc he was entranced by kristoff's memories of their relationship.

The best character design advice I can give you is as follows:

Diversify your cast. No, more than that. Uh-uh. More. Even more.

Now that you have a satisfactorily diverse cast, do your research. If you’ve got a character with a disability, read about that disability and how people with that disability experience life differently. If you have a character from Taiwan, go read about Taiwan. Find out about the terrain and the food and the holidays and then decide your character’s relationship to all of that.

Pay attention to tiny details and remember that these characters are not you. You like pickles, cheese, and ketchup on your burgers. Good for you. Chances are most of the people in your cast do not eat burgers like that. They don’t sit in chairs the same way. They don’t all keep their socks in the top drawer. This also kind of counts as diversity, just a different kind

If you can’t decide how you want a particular character’s hair to look, just get rid of it. Man, woman, alien, cat boy, whatever. Chop it all off. Buzz cut city.

If you don’t like your characters, you’re doing it wrong. You have to like them. All of them. If you have a secondary character who’s just kind of bland, you have to come up with hobbies and interests for them, even if they don’t necessarily come up in the story, for your own benefit. Yeah the main characters don’t know this guy that well but I do and he makes model trains in his spare time. He listens to death metal and his favorite flavor of ice cream is birthday cake.

Yes, that means villains too. You have to understand and respect them. You have to imagine them as they were when they were on the playground at recess when they were seven. You have to treat them like people, not just as an excuse for the protagonists’ adventures and development.

It really does help to think of each individual character as if they were the main character. You have to be able to articulate what they want, both short term and long term. And what they’re willing to do to get it. And what they fantasize about for the future, even if it’s unrealistic and they think it’ll never happen.

“Lawful Evil”, am I? That’s news to me. So it’s “evil” to take down a gang of ruthless mobsters using military-grade weaponry in an inhabited urban area? To stop multiple dangerous criminals from running loose? To drag my men halfway around the world on a vague hunch, hunting my target, only to bring him home wrapped in a warm blanket instead of in handcuffs? Truly, I am history’s greatest monster. 

Really, I- Excuse me?! Some people think I was in “full control” when that crazy mask stuck itself to me? The mask which was later confirmed by Interpol’s paranormal unit to - and I am quoting the official report here - “amplify the negative emotions of the wearer, in some cases to the point of mindlessness”? That mask? Frankly, I’m disgusted by the insinuation. For the record, I do not “fully remember” the incident, and what vague recollections I have border on incomprehensible. Sly informed me after the fact that I verbally threatened to, quote, “smash” him, and proceeded to attempt to make good on that threat.

Obviously that’s my natural state. Naturally, I’m just dying to violently murder the man I have been trying to arrest for years. Who I have dedicated much of my life to lawfully apprehending, and whom I have fought alongside multiple times. 

If you have a problem with my conduct while on duty, submit a compliment to Interpol. It will move through the proper channels and reach my superiors. But making baseless, anonymous claims about my morality… ¡maldito sea! Whoever wrote that garbage is lucky I have better things to do with my time.

Anyway... the rest is Greek to me. I don’t recognize the majority of these names. Scar is an amoral fop who deserves a kick in the teeth, but beyond that, I can’t comment. I don’t see anything about Judy, but I will state for the record here that I have no animosity for her whatsoever. She is an excellent cop with huge potential, and I’m glad to consider her a friend.

And one last thing - that garbage that played when Bentley coerced me into that damn dance? Not my theme song. That’s the opposite of my theme song. It’s the “Carmelita is powerless and cannot get what she wants” song. Honestly, some people…
