“Um.” Sam tried to focus as Buffy brushed her fingers across his face. Her skin felt so cold, it was hard not to try and sink into the pleasant feeling of her cool fingers on his forehead. “‘m not sure. There was ... a monster ...” Sam tried to pull together his memories as he allowed Buffy to pull him to his feet, leaning heavily on her shoulder. Sam tried to support more of his weight but his muscles were weak and shaky. If it weren’t for the strong grip Buffy had on him, he would have fallen right back to the ground.

                “Hey -- I ... wasn’t sure what kind you liked so.  I got a bit of everything,” Elias said, dragging a couple of boxes of doughnuts from the passengers seat of the car, a box of coffee and a bag of bagels balanced on top as he nudged the driver’s door closed, heading up the steps to where Buffy was waiting outside the school.  He wasn’t sure if he was exactly welcome in with the Watcher and the others, yet, but he figured sugar and caffeine couldn’t go awry either way.  “Hope that’s okay.”

“you’re cute.” it’s not exactly a normal greeting, but he calls it like he sees it, and beauty recognizes beauty. “i mean, not as cute as me, naturally, but you’ve got it going.” crosses his arms, leans against a wall, head canted as he considers her. “you look important too. a little...” hand waves in the girl’s general direction. “blah. really gotta ditch that school girl look. i’m thinking... pantsuit.” that’s pride, throwing out wardrobe advice to strangers. he lives to help.

buffy's footsteps & shadow temporarily shielding the moonlight that partially illuminated kelly's features roused her from her light sleep, albeit peeling her dark eyes open & propping herself up onto her arm -------------- trying not to cause her makeshift bed on the air stream's couch to creak with age. 

              “ you okay, dude ? ”

 kelly softly asked, her voice thick with slumber & much huskier than it's usual pitch.    ( @alwayscutoff short thing )

     “ Me ? Alright ? Yeah, all it was was just a long walk off a short bridge. All the while trying to get a busted piece of equipment to work. ” There’s just the slightest trace of annoyance that enters his tone. He thought he heard her ask him if he was alright, and all he needed to go off was just the idea he might have heard someone say something close to ‘ are you alright ? ’. Doesn’t take much to make him run his mouth off. 

     “ So all in all, it’s just another Wednesday morning. Go SPARTAN lifestyle. ” He finishes dusting himself off before he turns to her, shooting off a question whether or not he was correct in assuming she had even spoken to him or not. “ Your Wednesday any better ? ”
