Glaurung-Are you cunning, or do you prefer a straight approach when dealing with people?

I am cunning to the extent that I understand when the straight approach is preferable to subterfuge and manipulation, and I employ whichever suits best the situation. Idk how cunning that is.

Grond-If you could learn to fight with any weapon, what would it be?

The rapier because it is gorgeous. Also maybe the bow. Maybe firearms because, inelegant as they are, they are also the pragmatic choice.

Draugluin - Are you a pack leader type?

When I have to be. I dislike leadership responsibilities but I have been more than once in situations in which I was literally the only one with a clue what to do. And I was also in situations where, because nobody could agree who to elect as a leader, I stood up and said “Do you guys want to make up your minds or do you want me in charge?” They quickly made up their minds afterwards.

Gothmog-Are you afraid of fire, or are you a bit of a pyro?

I am actually not afraid of fire. I quite love it, and setting things on fire. Of course, I keep a respectful distance and I have burned myself more than once but I am still fascinated by it. When I was little I used to ask people what exactly it was. And I was very disappointed when nobody could give me a response I was satisfied with. I concluded after a while, on my own, that it was either gas or plasma. I was 10.

Eol-Are you happy or unhappy with where you live right now?

I am not markedly unhappy but I would love to live somewhere else with less prejudice, more available options and more tolerance. And less valardamned heat.

On Taniquetil, at night, Manwë muses over his father’s choice to make him the ruler of Arda.

I have this weird headcanon that Manwë KNOWS he is not a good ruler. I see him not as the polar opposite of his brother, Melkor, but more as someone who is trapped in a role he feels unfit to play. He likes rules because they make him feel confident, but he is painfully aware that he lacks Melkor’s intelligence or charisma, and that he is more of a bureaucrat (Eru’s bureaucrat) than a true leader. His being good natured and somehow naively optimistic made him likable as a person (or should I say Ainu?), but I don’t see him as someone who willingly aspired to be in a position of leadership, and maybe that’s why Eru hoped that he would become a good king (in contrast to Melkor’s destructive ambition). I believe that, initially, he truly made an effort to make good, but later, as his decisions proved to be worse and worse and chaos arose, he started neglecting his role and left the ruling mainly in Varda’s hands (whom I see as the TRUE leader of the couple). I also headcanon that his apolitical, almost fragile, and, later in life, solitary nature is the reason why he’s friends with Ulmo. 

… and now I made myself sad.
