AmDocs introduces: Kevin Fintland

Kevin began studying comedy at the tender age of seven when he would fall asleep nightly to Bill Cosby routines on cassette. He still has Bill Cosby’s “Himself” completely memorized. 20 years later Kevin found himself spending his college years performing at local underground comedy clubs in Los Angeles while earning his Master’s Degree from USC’s prestigious Peter Stark Producer’s Program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Graduating into the 2001 writer’s strike, and with his excessive student loans quickly coming due, Kevin took a day job working in Post Production in Hollywood. Although successful at climbing the corporate ladder, Kevin never lost his taste for comedy, nor his desire for creative fulfillment. Now having finished his first 2 ½ Minute Animated Comedy Short entitled WORK SUCKS!, Kevin is now working on turning the short into 10-12 episode web series with the ultimate goal turning the concept into a half hour animated TV series. The tragic fate of the first democratic transition in Latin America leads the filmmakers to engage in an intense exercise of storytelling that combines investigative journalism, film essay, and personal drama. AmDocs introduces: Donna Lipowitz

Donna Lipowitz is an Australian independent documentary film producer/director based in London. She specializes in heart-warming stories about people and their relationships with animals. After a career in film & TV in Australia working in the Art Department, Donna moved to London and studied Documentary film making at the MET Film School in London. Her first short doc “Gokula: A Place On Earth For Cows” was screened at several film festivals in the UK and internationally. AmDocs introduces: Travis JohnsTravis Johns is a multi-disciplinary filmmaker and co-founder of Proud Pony International, a new-media collective focusing on high quality video products and creative dressage. Also an accomplished editor & motion designer, Travis has worked for clients like Redbull, BP, New Balance, Scion, and Howard TV, while his short films have screened at festivals worldwide, including the web-series “Get Out! Of the Closet!” at The 15th Annual Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival and Chicago’s 29th Annual Reeling Festival. Two of his shorts were selected for the Texas Filmmakers Showcase: “It's For Her” in 2009, and this year his latest work, “The Trouble with Ray,” a short-form documentary on legendary activist Ray Hill. AmDocs introduces: Deborah Stratman

Filmmaker Deborah Stratman works in a territory between experimental and documentary genres.  In her films and frequent work in other media, including drawing, sculpture, sound, photography and small press, she explores the history, uses, mythologies and control of highly varied landscapes, from Muslim Xinjiang China to suburban southern California. Her recent work addresses American constructs of Freedom, the junction between technology and faith and contemporary locations of the supernatural.  She continues to solicit public responses about FEAR (to participate, call toll-free 1-800-585-1078). Stratman teaches in the School of Art & Design at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
