America & Friends (2015) - Flashback to one of the first (if not the very first) times I drew America Chavez; the newest hero to join the MCU!! If you've been able to catch the new movie already, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! 😊 . Back from watching #DoctorStrange In The #MultiverseOfMadness at my local #VueCinema (@vue).
I enjoyed it. Definitely a different, and very unique entry in the #MCU movies. Which was welcome. Very much a #SamRaimi movie as well, including the obligatory #BruceCampbell cameo appearance too! 😁 Afterall, why would you get in a director that certainly has their own cinematic style and then water him down to make him fit a similar identikit profile to other movies. Raimi's direction and style shines through, more Evil Dead than Spider-Man, obviously when it comes to the more horror elements going on. A good choice and fit for this movie!
I haven't seen the #WandaVision, #Loki or #WhatIf shows, so know the bare minimum of the #Multiverse, except for the last Spider-Man movie, but although it treads on over that ground, especially WandaVision obviously, I didn't feel lost as to what was going on plot-wise, which was good for the casual MCU fan like myself, but if you have seen those, then you'll probably get an even bigger kick out the movie.. Not overburdened with infodumps having to explain this or that, and it felt well paced too, that I was engrossed and entertained for the full couple of hours that flew by.
That said, the intro of #AmericaChavez and the cameos were pretty cool, no spoilers 😉, and it's going to interesting to see what the rest of #Marvel's Phase 4 has in store now, crossovers etc, considering events in this movie, as well in other content.
All in all, it's a very enjoyable movie, that takes the MCU into a weird and wonderful direction that brings it closer to the freaky and sometimes outlandish feel of the comics than any previous MCU movie, as well as adding the schlocky horror vibes from Raimi into the mix.
Definitely worth watching!
As always, stay for extras in the end credits. One in the mid-credits is a must watch, whilst the one at the end seems like Raimi was having some fun!
