Me reblogging and adding my two cents to Jiang Cheng and morality posts because ever since I realized he was in a trolley problem, I've been lowkey feral.
Also since I'm studying Chinese history as prep for university, I'm gonna properly read Analects and other important works of Chinese philosophy and let y'all know what I think. So far? Huge fan of Analects. (Will I apply it to Jiang Cheng? Probably. Is that an issue? Maybe? Do I care? Nah.)
From Confucius’s Analects
I think my next read is going to be the Analects of Confucius. For all that I know quite a bit about ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, my knowledge of classical Chinese philosophy is miserably poor. And given that Confucianism is one of the most influential schools of thought in human history, I need to rectify that shortcoming.
(Eventually, I'd like to read all the Chinese classics, but one step at a time.)
Do not be concerned that no one has heard of you, but rather strive to become a person worthy of being known.
— Confucius, Analects
"When three people are walking together, I can find my teacher among them. I can follow the one who does good, and the one who does bad can serve as a warning for me not to behave in the same way."
— Confucius, the Analects
The Master said, "To know when you know, and when you do not know; that is wisdom."
