It's crazy how mental health issues can significantly amplify past regrets.
For example, when I was a teen, I dreamed of becoming a theoretical particle physicist. When I got into grad school at 22, a renowned experimental particle physicist offered me the opportunity to work under her. It was an attractive offer, so I took it. However, during the first two years, I still wondered whether I should stay under her wing or switch to pursue my childhood dream. Eventually, I stayed and completed my PhD in experimental particle physics rather than theoretical particle physics.
It wasn't a bad decision. In fact, it came with many benefits, such as graduating on time and receiving greater recognition. But when I was suffering from severe PTSD a few years ago, that decision really haunted me. I felt that I had chosen an easier path over my dream and had therefore betrayed myself. I also questioned whether I had strength and integrity.
It's true that I chose the easier path, but it hurt no one, and I still learned and gained a lot on this path. Yet, my mind kept attacking me. Now that I've recovered, I no longer feel any regret about my life, even though I still remember the mistakes and imperfect decisions I've made.
It makes me wonder whether having a lot of regrets is a symptom of mental health issues. On the other hand, having many regrets may also contribute to mental health problems. So regrets and mental health problems may act as a positive feedback loop, trapping us in a cycle of pain.
Mental health issues can affect anyone, regardless of their social or financial status. Astrology reflects this as well.
In astrology, there are certain planetary alignments in a birth chart that indicate the possibility of mental health challenges (e.g. Saturn aspecting the Moon), and anyone can be born with such alignments.
There are also planetary transits that may bring about these difficulties for a period of time, such as Saturn transiting over a person's natal Moon. Everyone over the age of 30 has to experience this transit at some point in life. While not everyone will experience severe depression during that time, there is a general consensus among astrologers that it can be a difficult period marked by challenges, responsibilities, and emotional heaviness.
Therefore, if you feel guilty about having a privileged life while still facing mental health challenges, please remember that these issues can affect anyone. They are not your fault, but a natural part of the human experience. 🙏
For example, for one individual, opportunities come if they keep actively trying to create or find them. But for another person, it is about letting go of all expectations and allowing opportunities to present themselves.
It also means that some seemingly practical and logical approaches are beneficial only to certain groups of people, but not to others. Likewise, some methods that society considers impractical and illogical are actually practical, logical, and beneficial.
5 years ago, I sat by the window every day, waiting for my life to fade away. Even ordinary things, such as the pencil I hadn't touched for a few days, made me feel scared. I didn't need to die to experience hell, because I was already in hell: one that was invisible to others, but terrifyingly real to me.
Now that I've recovered, I'd like to share with you how I saved my life, by using a mix of mental techniques and energy healing (also known as spiritual healing).
Energy Healing
PTSD occurs when the brain associates too many harmless items or situations with a fear memory. Even though they are benign, they become fear-inducing.
As a spiritual healer, I knew I had to release the energy of the trauma itself, but I also realized that energetic connections had been formed between these benign items or situations and the trauma.
To resolve this, I gradually released both the energy directly tied to the root cause of my PTSD and those energetic connections. I used a cocktail of spiritual healing techniques: Spiritual Response Therapy (a psychological treatment approach combined with spiritual elements developed in the U.S.), energy symbols, calling deities for help, a hand gesture that helps release negative energy, visualization, and more.
If you would like to learn about the techniques I use and their details, you can find them in my post from two weeks ago: [x].
Releasing Negative Beliefs and Forgiving the Past
Besides feeling fearful and depressingly hopeless due to my situation at that time, all my other negative thoughts and emotions were also intensified. Some of those were about feeling extremely guilty over some minor mistakes in the past. Since I was not able to work or achieve anything, I also felt like a useless piece of garbage, as in my entire life I had been conditioned to believe that my value was directly tied to what I could achieve. It was so severe that I would feel guilty spending £10 to buy food from the supermarket because I felt that I didn't deserve it. Some of those negative emotions fed my PTSD and made it even worse!
To save myself, I had to release all the negative beliefs that I had absorbed throughout my life, and review all the emotionally charged events and make peace with them one by one. It was a gigantic project.
For example, I had to throw away the belief that my value was based on what I could do and achieve. Instead, I replaced it with the belief that I am a piece of Source who is here experiencing the physical world, so I am intrinsically valuable.
Mindfulness Practice
With fearful and negative thoughts and emotions constantly looping in my head, if I did nothing, my mind would spiral downward. To counter this, I practiced mindfulness to monitor what was going on in my head.
Whenever I noticed myself getting pulled into negative thoughts or engaging in harmful self-talk, I made a conscious effort to shift my perspective to something more positive. Whenever I felt scared of something benign, I reminded myself again and again that it was safe so that my brain would rewire its association.
I didn’t always succeed. Regardless, I kept pushing forward.
Conclusions
So, dear reader, this is how I saved my life, driven by a small part inside me that still wanted to fight for her chance to live. It was the most difficult period of my life, and I used to doubt if I would ever recover. But I did. 😀
Lastly, please note that this is my personal experience. Everyone’s healing journey is unique, but I hope my story can fan the flames of your inner fire and bring you some inspiration to find your path to recovery!
A wise person lives in accordance with the natural flow of life. That is the Daoist way.
Everyone goes through periods of good luck and bad luck. During difficult times, it can be very hard to manifest positive outcomes despite our efforts. If we try to go against the current, e.g. by spending a lot of money to expand our business, that is when things can backfire. However, such periods are very good for self-reflection and self-improvement.
To summarize, the strategy is as follows:
During "bad luck" periods, we use them for self-improvement, i.e. internal achievement.
During "good luck" periods, we use them to achieve success in the physical world, i.e. external achievement.
Affirmation:
By following the rhythm of life, I align with the natural timing of things and manifest success with greater ease.
I've done a lot of dumb things in my life. I regret nothing.
That's what I felt yesterday when I reflected on my life.
This self-talk seems silly, but it actually shows me how much progress I've made in recovering from severe mental health issues and how much spiritual growth I've experienced.
It shows that I no longer feel negative emotions about past events or my decisions (even if they were dumb 😆), and that I've made peace with myself. No guilt, no regret.
It also shows that I now see my life as my own journey. Society and the people around me had ingrained in me the beliefs that life comes with a list of milestones I must achieve, but now I've successfully erased that list. I've failed big time in my life, and right now I've failed to hit most of the milestones set by society, but I truly feel that Source is having a good time experiencing this world through me. 🤩 A bit adventurous, a bit unusual, a bit crazy. 🤪
We often say we want abundance and that we don't want to experience lack, but do you know what you are abundant in?
Are you abundant in love, support, money, good health, luck, and other good things? Or are you abundant in something undesirable?
On the other hand, lack isn't necessarily negative, particularly if you lack these three things in life: diseases, disasters, and debts.
So, the next time you ask the Universe for abundance, be specific about what you want to be abundant in.
It may also be worth looking into your energy and checking whether you are abundant in something you want while lacking something you don't want, instead of the opposite.
Squirrels rewire some parts of their brains within 1.5 hours of waking up from hibernation! 🤯
To save metabolic energy during hibernation, squirrels alter the neuronal connections of the "high-energy communication lines" in the primary visual cortex. However, these changes are quickly reversed after they emerge from deep hibernation.
Researchers think this feature could inspire future research on how to heal human brains and accelerate neuroplasticity.
My old definition of success:
👩🎓 Achieving success in my education and career
💰 Having money
👩❤️💋👩 Getting married
🤩 Being praised by others.
It was all external and material.
My new definition of success:
👀 Being wise, visionary, mentally strong, and resilient
❤️🔥 Having integrity
🧙 Possessing the power of discernment.
It is all internal.
When we finish our life journey on Earth, we cannot carry our material success with us into the beyond. We can only carry what we have become. That is why I find my new definition more meaningful. It also takes me out of the rat race and allows me to ask what I truly believe is most important in life.
Breaking Free from Negative Energy: A Comprehensive Guide
Featuring mental and energetic techniques to permanently free you from negative energy, written by a spiritual healer with 13 years of experience
(Warning: looooong post, 7500+ words, packed with many techniques)
Negative energy can have detrimental effects on our lives. It can generate disturbing thoughts and heavy emotions. It can cloud our intuition. It can sneak into our energetic connections with our loved ones, damaging our relationships with them. It can bar us from manifesting success, trapping us in a cycle of failure, powerlessness and negative self-image. It can cause physical illnesses by blocking the natural energy flow inside our bodies.
Without a doubt, removing negative energy is essential. Unfortunately in some cases, negative energy can distort someone's feelings and cloud their judgment so much that it can prevent them from following practices and seeking help to improve their situation. Thus, I am glad that you are here to read this article, perhaps with the goal of seeking solutions to resolve certain challenges in your life. Indeed, I have prepared many techniques for you. Hopefully, you will find some of them useful and relevant.
To learn how to free yourself from negative energy, you have to first understand where it comes from. From my spiritual healing experience, it can originate from intense emotions caused by unresolved conflicts and traumatic events, harmful beliefs, obsolete vows, curses, and external energetic influences from other people, beings, and your environment. Some of them can come from your own experiences in this life; others may come from your past lives, your ancestors (such as inheriting ancestral curses), your enemies, or even a sexual partner, as intimacy allows the exchange of energy between two people.
Some energy issues can be resolved quickly, but some may require your commitment over a period of time, with gradual rather than instant improvements. Additionally, if you repeatedly encounter similar issues, it usually indicates that the root of the problem has not been resolved yet, and it is necessary to delve deeper to find it. This often has something to do with beliefs and past trauma, which act as “hooks” for external negative influences to keep latching on.
I would also like to stress the importance of cultivating healthy emotional and thought patterns, as they can help you navigate life with more grace and ease, thereby protecting you from negative energy.
With these ideas in mind, I would like to arrange my methods into the following four categories:
Methods to Release Intense Emotions
Methods to Change Beliefs
Methods to Shield Against External Influences
Methods to Cleanse Negative Energy
The first two categories contain techniques that resolve negative energy issues mainly through emotional and mental approaches, so they are closer to mental health techniques. The last two discuss methods that directly target negative energy. However, to receive the greatest benefit, I highly recommend reading through all of them and picking up the ones that resonate with you.
Now, let’s begin!
A. Methods to Release Intense Emotions
Unreleased intense emotions can become energetic blockages that disrupt the body’s natural energy flow, potentially causing both physical illnesses and mental health issues, such as stress, anxiety, and depression. Therefore, it is highly beneficial to release intense emotions, which in turn helps improve mental health and cultivate healthy emotional patterns.
However, before this can happen, you first need to figure out what emotions are waiting to be released. So, we will start by discussing how to feel them (in case any of you, dear readers, have been feeling emotionally numb), and then move on to figuring out where these emotions come from and how to release them.
A1. Let yourself feel
Some people numb their emotions as a protective mechanism. While it can be beneficial to do so right after experiencing trauma when emotions feel too overwhelming, prolonged emotional numbness can lead to serious issues, such as the feeling of “feeling dead or empty inside”. By numbing negative emotions, positive ones, such as joy, are also dampened, as the mind cannot selectively numb negative emotions only.
If this is happening, you can start feeling again by gradually allowing yourself to process the incidents that triggered your numbness in the first place. This process may take a bit of time, so please give yourself plenty of time and be gentle with yourself. If any feelings surface during the process, just let them flow through you without judgment or suppression, and you will be fine.
In general, letting yourself feel involves embracing vulnerability. This can be hard for some of you, particularly if you have been taught that vulnerability is a weakness. However, vulnerability is a strength, as it requires courage to admit your true feelings and confidence in yourself that—no matter how difficult these feelings are—you can still pick yourself up afterward.
A2. Figure out the roots of your feelings
Next, when you feel negative emotions, you need to question where they come from: what are the roots of these emotions?
If you are not sure what past events have caused these emotions, one useful technique for uncovering them is to pay attention to your triggers. What scenarios and individuals tend to trigger an emotional response in you? What aspects of them trigger you? What exact emotions and thoughts go through your head when it happens?
Ask yourself questions like a detective to gather pieces of information to unearth the hidden root. Even though this process focuses mainly on your feelings, it is also an investigation that may require both logical thinking and intuition. Indeed, healing is an art guided by both the heart and the mind.
As a side note, if you suddenly find yourself feeling intense emotions toward a small event, a movie scene, a story, or even a picture, don't brush it off as something silly or ridiculous. This experience is, in fact, perfectly normal. These moments act as triggers to bring your buried feelings to the surface. Exploring these triggers can help you trace back to the root of the issue, such as what event caused it and who was involved.
A3. Release emotional energy
Once you have discovered the root causes, allow yourself to experience the emotions associated with those events. Acknowledge them, and let them flow through you. Finding meaning in those events may also aid in your recovery. If those events are traumatic, affirm to yourself that you are safe now. If guilt is one of the emotions you are grappling with, please read the next tip.
An important reminder: There are no right or wrong feelings. Just experience your emotions flowing through you naturally, without judgment and suppression. They are just signals that your heart, inner child or inner being use to point you toward certain things, such as energy waiting to be released, so that you can move toward a better future.
Another important reminder: If the emotions feel overwhelmingly intense or you have difficulty sorting them out, you can reach out to your loved ones or even seek professional help. You don't need to be alone on your journey. 😊
A4. Let go of guilt and forgive yourself
This part is especially dedicated to releasing guilt, which is a really heavy energy that weighs many people down.
To release it, first tell yourself this truth and digest it as much as possible: Everyone makes mistakes. It is an inherent part of the human journey. While it is crucial to learn from your mistakes, it is equally important to move on from them, otherwise it is like repeatedly stabbing yourself with a knife from the past.
Next, understand that feeling guilty is a sign of kindness. Unlike those who lack remorse, your guilt stems from your inherent kindness and your ability to self-reflect. Therefore, please don’t let guilt overshadow the goodness within you. It is worth recalling the good things you have done in your life.
Also, you can pay attention to the progress you have made along the way. For example, if you feel guilty that you used to be a bully at school, but you have grown into a kinder person now, then you have made some valuable progress!
Acts of penance may be able to help you release guilt. While traditionally associated with religious practices, I have discovered their effectiveness in releasing charged emotional energy.
Lastly, a therapeutic method for letting go of guilt involves writing down the events and your feelings on a piece of paper, then symbolically releasing them by throwing the paper into a fire.
B. Methods to Change Beliefs
Our beliefs, if negative, can be a source of negative energy. Our beliefs also hold substantial power over how well we can maintain our energy, how effectively we can shield ourselves from external influences, and how we act in real life.
The latter has a strong effect on our energy as well, as for example, a person who holds the belief of “I must always give to others” may prioritize the needs and desires of other people over their own, leading to serious energy depletion.
There are many techniques for shifting your beliefs. Let’s start with the technique for mastering your focus.
B1. Master where you put your focus
Your focus has a powerful impact on the beliefs you hold, which subsequently affect your energy. To give you a better sense of how this works, I have drawn the graph below:
You can control your thoughts by deciding where you put your focus. Then, your thoughts can change your beliefs either directly, or through the endless, circular feedback loop shown in the graph. If you prefer an explanation of this loop in words, here it is: Your thoughts shape your emotions → Your emotions generate energy → Your energy influences your manifestations and hence your physical experiences → Your experiences reinforce your beliefs.
To develop positive beliefs—and even replace negative ones—you can direct your focus in the following ways:
(1) Find joy in the everyday
Focus on the people, moments, and little things that make you happy: the smile of a loved one, a song you love, the shining stars in the sky, the beauty of wildflowers on your way to work. The more you appreciate, the more joy you invite in. Gradually, you will develop the belief that life is beautiful and you are surrounded by a lot of joy and beauty in life.
(2) Reframe challenges
For example, if you are going through tough situations in life, instead of focusing on the hardship and feeling upset by it, you can shift your focus to the growth and strength gained from overcoming those challenges. Tell yourself, ”Even though I am facing difficulties, these experiences are allowing me to grow, become stronger, better equipped, and more resilient. These qualities will support me in building a bright future.”
This shifts your belief, and hence your vibration, from being a victim to being the hero of your own journey.
(3) Let go of triggers
When something or someone upset you, ask yourself: What belief is causing this reaction? For example, if a cashier is rude to you, you might feel angry because you believe they are intentionally being disrespectful. But you can shift your mood by considering: Maybe they are just having a bad day. When you use a belief less, it can gradually fade away and lose its grasp on you.
(4) Count your blessings
Focus on the presence of what is already amazing in your life, instead of the absence of what you desire but has not yet arrived. When you shift your attention to your blessings rather than your lacks, by the Law of Attraction you nurture the belief that life is bountiful and you are blessed by the Universe. This, in turn, invites even more blessings into your life, further strengthening this positive belief.
B2. Writing exercise
Another simple method to release limiting and harmful beliefs is by doing this writing exercise. Select a topic, then write down your beliefs surrounding it on a piece of paper. Ask yourself various questions related to that topic while monitoring your thoughts and emotions to uncover what beliefs you hold.
For example, if you are looking for a fulfilling relationship, you can ask yourself how you feel about love, being in a relationship, and finding the right partner.
After writing down all your beliefs, erase the negative and limiting ones with an eraser. Alternatively, you can write down the beliefs you want to discard on a piece of paper, and dispose of it by tossing it into a fire.
B3. Visualization method from the Seth Material
Next technique is a visualization exercise provided in The Early Sessions: Book 9 of the Seth Material by Jane Roberts (you can read the original excerpt here).
It starts with imagining your harmful beliefs as an old, run-down house. Then, visualize it burning to the ground, with the debris carted away and destroyed. Now, the land is free, ready for the construction of a new, beautiful house that represents your new set of beneficial beliefs.
I have tried this exercise by visualizing the destruction of different kinds of old structures instead of a house, and it still works. If you prefer using other types of structures to represent your old beliefs, you can visualize their destruction and the effect is just as powerful.
B4. Pray to god(s) or ask your spirit guides and the Universe for help
They can help transform your beliefs by manifesting events that shift your perspective, changing your feelings, or providing dreams that offer you new insights and perspectives.
B5. Practice positive affirmations
For any negative belief, you can create a positive affirmation to overwrite it with a new, beneficial one. For example, to counter the belief, “I always attract emotionally unavailable romantic partners into my life,” you can use “I attract supportive and emotionally available partners who are here for me.” Additionally, this practice can train your brain to develop more optimistic and constructive thought patterns.
I have got a tip on how to construct an effective affirmation: use positive and firm language to state what you want to affirm, and avoid negations (e.g. the word “not”). This is because the Universe tends to ignore negations. For example, if you want to end a toxic ancestral cycle, the affirmation “I do NOT continue the toxic cycle of my ancestors” might not work well, because the Universe could still interpret it as “I do continue the toxic cycle of my ancestors”. Instead, try: “I break the toxic cycle of my ancestors and start a healthy one with love and joy”.
To firmly embed your new positive belief in your subconscious, repeat your mantra for days. To save time, you can weave this practice into your routine, for example, while going for a walk or running errands.
Nonetheless, this process can be accelerated if the statement enters your mind when you are in a conscious state more closely connected to your subconscious. People who are very experienced with meditation or practice self-hypnosis may be able to enter such a state themselves. Alternatively, a hypnotherapist can help you insert your statement during a hypnotherapy session. Another technique to expedite the process is by saying the affirmation to yourself in front of a mirror or while looking at a photo of yourself.
B6. Rise above a victim mentality
When we feel that we are victims of life, we are more likely to give off a vibration that attracts more negative energy, events, and toxic people, which perpetuate that victim mentality.
I understand that when we are going through a tough time, life can feel really painful and we may see ourselves as victims of our circumstances. It is unfortunate that we don’t have a lot of control over what happens in our physical world, but we do have the power to adjust our inner world. By shifting your mentality, you get to change your emotional response—leading you to take different physical actions—and alter the vibration you are sending to the Universe and the people around you. This can bring in a better reality for yourself and shift other people’s behaviors.
One way to transform your perception of your situation is to see it as a challenge, a life adventure, and a hero’s journey. Remember the books you read as a child where the protagonists embarked on arduous journeys but managed to overcome all the obstacles and eventually emerged victorious? If their journeys were not challenging, their victories would not be considered as meaningful, the protagonists would not be regarded as heroes and heroines, and the books would not be as interesting to read. In the same way, you can consider your current situation as a hero’s journey that awaits you—the hero!—to overcome. It can be your great adventure!
Additionally, once the difficult period has passed, it can be helpful to reflect on what you have been through and find meaning in it. Through reflection, you may discover positive aspects or valuable lessons that emerged from the experience. This can help you reframe your perspective, build resilience, gain insights, and foster personal growth. This can also help you make peace with the experience and move forward with greater understanding and acceptance.
On a grander scale, you may realize that these challenges push you to grow in a direction befitting your life purpose. Those events do not make you a victim, but someone who triumphs and overcomes challenges! You will start to feel more in control of your life, and with that comes a stronger ability to maintain your energy.
C. Methods to Shield Against External Influences
In the previous section, we discussed how to let go of harmful beliefs, which can be the sources of some negative energy within us, along with having the adverse effects of attracting negative external energy and circumstances into our lives.
Now, we will continue our discussion on how to defend ourselves from external energetic influences by cultivating a really useful positive belief (😉) and applying certain spiritual techniques.
C1. Believe in your ability to be completely free from external influences
Some beliefs can be highly beneficial, and one of them is the belief in your ability to be completely free from external influences. When you are able to convince not only your conscious mind but your entire being that this is true, it is as if you are wearing invincible armor, impenetrable by external energy.
For this belief to be effective, it is vital that you prioritize self-care. Hermetic philosophy has a saying: “As within, so without”, meaning that our internal state is reflected in our physical world. Therefore, your internal energetic state and your physical actions are interconnected. When one does not put themselves first, they are more likely to be affected by other people’s negative energy, or risk having their own energy depleted by others. It is essential to set healthy boundaries and say no to commitments that do not resonate with your heart. Having strong personal boundaries can prevent other people’s negative energy from invading you.
On the other hand, during my spiritual healing journey, I have come to realize that while this belief is often beneficial, admitting that “a certain individual’s energy has a negative effect on me” is equally important. These two beliefs may appear contradictory, but they can be applicable to me at different times and at various stages of my healing journey. By acknowledging the effects of others, I take actions to cut their undesirable influences out of my life, which in turn helps me better maintain my energy. As I can protect my energy more easily, the first belief becomes more valid and empowering.
In general, I have discovered that in spirituality many statements may seem to contradict one another, but they can all be true: it depends on the circumstances I am facing and the perspectives I hold. Indeed, true power lies in the ability to discern what is applicable at any given moment.
Next, we are going to focus on many spiritual techniques.
C2. Seal all openings in your body and aura
Having openings in your body or aura can allow negative interferences (negative interferences can be a combination of negative entities and negative energy) to attach to your body or aura. The symptom is that, no matter how much energy cleansing you do, your energy remains suboptimal and you feel off.
To show you how strong the impact can be, let me share an experience. One time, a friend asked me to conduct a session for her housemate who was going through a serious episode of depression for days. During the session, I discovered she had negative interferences and openings in her aura, so I removed all the interferences and sealed all the openings. The day after, my friend told me that her roommate had returned to normal.
If you suspect that there are openings in your body or aura, you can simply ask your High Self to seal them.
If you are wondering how you can cleanse your aura, don’t worry, the details will be given in “D5. Cleanse your aura”.
C3. Protect yourself with energy shields
Energy shields can prevent energy from other people and your surroundings from affecting you. You can ask your High Self to set a shield for you, or you can ask gods or angels with whom you are connected to set shields for you. You can also set a shield for yourself by imagining white light or any element you desire solidifying into a shield surrounding you. If you wish, you can have multiple layers of shields, each with its own unique material, property, and function. Feel free to be creative!
C4. Release as many attachments as possible
Attachments are energy that chains us down. They create negative emotions, such as fear of losing someone or something. They make us feel upset when our wants and desires have not yet manifested, or when our material possessions are gone.
The things we are attached to can be a person, a place, an object, or even a concept (e.g. self-identity). When we are attached to them, our freedom is restrained and it becomes more difficult for us to act according to our intuition. Like negative beliefs, they permit external negative energy to cling to us.
Let going of attachments does not mean you have to get rid of all your material possessions and isolate yourself from the people you love. As renowned Vedic astrologer Dr. Arjun Pai says, “Detachment is not that you own nothing; detachment is that nothing owns you.” You can continue to keep your personal belongings and relationships without becoming attached.
To be less attached, you can practice centering yourself from within and cultivate a deep trust in the Universe. Understanding that you are a spiritual being having a physical experience, and that your life here is only a small part of a much greater truth, may help you as well.
If you want a mind-blowing approach to detaching yourself from material possessions, you may try this method provided by Vedic scholar, astrologer, and yogini Eve Mendoza: attach yourself strongly to one single spiritual goal, with all your devotion and desire directed toward it. Her reasoning is that when all your desire is focused on that goal, it consumes your desire toward other things, and your attachments to them dissolve naturally.
Lastly, if you need assistance to release your attachments to certain people, objects, or events, you can call upon your High Self or Archangel Michael to cut the attachments for you. On the other hand, you can do this yourself by visualizing cords between you and them, then proceed to sever them with a sharp weapon of your choice.
C5. Cut your energetic connections with individuals no longer in your life or harmful to you
A connection is driven by the soul contracts between two people to maintain a close relationship during a certain period of life. In an optimal situation, the people you are connected to are those currently supporting your physical experiences and helping you learn life lessons. They may be your spouse, close friends, close family members, and important mentors and colleagues.
When two people are connected, their energy may influence each other, whether positively or negatively. When the connection is strong, it is represented as love and a sense of caring. However, connections can come and go. When a relationship has faded out of your life, in principle, its connection should be deactivated or cut, but this may not always be the case.
Since you can be affected by your connections, it is better to optimize them: only keeping active the connections between you and the people who are important to you, and deactivating the rest. You can ask your High Self to declutter your connections to the optimal situation.
Additionally, if someone has already left your life, but you keep thinking about them even when you want to stop, you feel burdened by what has happened between you and them, or you notice that their emotional and thought patterns continue to influence you, it is a sign that the connection between you and them has not yet been deactivated. If this happens, you can cut it by visualizing a cord (or cords) between you and them in your mind’s eye and cutting it with a sharp weapon of your choice.
Here is a tip to increase your efficiency in cord-cutting: instead of simply setting the intention to cut the cords between you and that person, set the intention to detach and remove their cords attached to you and while withdrawing your own cords attached to them. On the other hand, if you only see one cord in your mind’s eye, you can sever it at both ends, with one end attached to you and the other attached to them. Another option is to summon Archangel Michael or ask your High Self to cut them for you.
C6. Cut your connection with world energy
World energy is the energetic field created by the collective thoughts and feelings of people across the Earth.
When you are strongly connected to world energy, you could feel overwhelmed or emotionally shaken by events happening across the world, even when they do not directly affect your life. So, I highly recommend cutting your connection with world energy.
If you are wondering whether you can still contribute to healing the world without staying plugged into this collective energy, the answer is YES. As a sovereign soul, you are free to choose how you engage with the world. You can help raise the collective consciousness simply by standing in your light, without being burdened by the pain of others.
Just like other connections, Archangel Michael is an expert at cutting it, so you can summon him. Or, you can ask your High Self to disconnect you from it.
D. Methods to Cleanse Negative Energy
Now you know how to protect yourself from negative energy outside of you, but what if there is already negative energy inside you, or even what if you have been cursed by someone? Furthermore, how can you cleanse your aura, beloved items, and home? This section is a general guide to help you tackle all of these energy-cleansing-related issues.
D1. Do grounding
Mother Earth can absorb negative energy from us, so by walking on grass with naked feet, some negative energy in you can be absorbed by Earth. Similarly you can ground yourself by hugging trees.
However, if you do not live close to nature, you can do the following meditation that also gives the benefits of grounding: imagine yourself as a tree with your root growing toward Mother Earth into the soil. Then, imagine a pure white light coming from the sky entering your body, washing over you and filling your body with its positive energy. As the white light enters you, the negative energy in your body moves toward the root and is absorbed by Mother Earth.
Alternatively, you can ground yourself by holding crystals and gemstones, such as black obsidian, petrified wood, hematite and pyrite. However, not all stones are suitable for everyone. For example, many people use rose quartz to resolve issues related to love, but I prefer rhodochrosite and rhodonite instead. By using your intuition and knowledge, you would be able to choose the right kinds. If you would like a recommendation for a good book on this subject, I find The Book of Stones: Who They Are and What They Teach by Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsian very useful, as it provides great details on a wide variety of stones. As a reminder, please make sure to maintain the good energy of your stones and cleanse them when necessary. You can follow the instructions from the next tip (D2. Throw away or cleanse energetically dirty items) for guidance on how to cleanse them.
D2. Throw away or cleanse energetically dirty physical items
Any object has an energy, which can affect the environment around it. For example, when I visited a museum in Chicago displaying ancient Near East artifacts, I saw a statue of Lamassu from the Neo-Assyrian Empire. When I stood right next to its head, I would instantly feel a serious headache, reflecting its energy and its past.
While most people do not own any ancient artifacts, in your daily life, your personal belongings or any items that you constantly interact with can influence your energy. Therefore, it is important to keep them as energetically clean as possible. If you like buying second-handed clothes, antique watches, or any pre-owned items, please be aware that they often carry the energy of their previous owners. Additionally, items we own can be exposed to negative energy, which then attaches to them.
Hence, it is useful to know how to cleanse your beloved items by following these methods:
Wash them with running water, but only applicable if they are fine with water.
Light a bundle of herbs, e.g. juniper, rosemary, sage or thyme, and smudge your items with the smoke from the burning herb.
Imagine white light washing over them.
Call your spirit guide, your High Self, or an angel to cleanse their energy.
Cut the energetic cords between the objects and their previous owners. You can do it by imagining cutting a cord with a pair of scissors, a knife, or a sword. Alternatively, you can summon Archangel Michael to help you.
In some cases, an item can have openings that allow negative interferences from other realms to enter our world. The symptom is that the energy remains negative even after repeated cleansing. If you encounter this situation, ask your High Self to seal any openings.
D3. Cleanse your digital files
Just like your physical belongings, your digital items can get affected by negative energy too. Yes, your emails and computer files can get energetically contaminated.
If this feels far-fetched to you, consider this:
Thoughts and emotions are non-physical and can carry negative energy. Digital files are simply thoughts stored in digital form.
Some scientists have been studying the possibility that we are living in a simulation. If that turned out to be true, it would mean that certain objects in our lives are simulated as “physical” objects, while some are simulated as “digital” objects. But fundamentally, they come from the same source: the energetic programming that simulates our reality. Thus, both can hold energy. This also means that digital items, just like physical objects, may require energy cleansing.
However, cleansing digital items can be trickier than cleansing physical items, as we cannot use physical methods: we can’t wash them with running water; can’t smudge them with smoke from burning herb; can’t expose them to moonlight.
Nonetheless, you can still do the following:
Visualize white light bursting through them.
Call your spirit guide, your High Self, or an angel to cleanse their energy.
Cleanse or transmute their energy with an energy symbol (please see “D8. Other miscellaneous methods” for a couple examples).
Cut the energetic cords between your items and the source of negative energy. You can do it by imagining cutting the cords with a pair of scissors, a knife or a sword. Alternatively, you can summon Archangel Michael to help you.
D4. Maintain a clean living environment
Keeping the environment where you spend a significant amount of your time is of vital importance. If the environment is dirty, it is similar to living next to a furnace that exhausts polluted air.
To keep your environment energetically clean, you can do the following:
Close any opening(s) in your environment. You can simply set the intention to close all the openings, or ask your High Self to close all the openings for you. It is basically the same as how you ask your High Self to seal any openings in your body, your aura, or an item.
Remove any obsolete or negative energy, and unwelcome entities. You can call upon your spiritual guides, guardians, or High Self to remove that energy and those beings, and send them to the right and proper places.
Cleanse the place by burning herbs, such as juniper, rosemary, sage or thyme. You can also imagine cosmic energy washing your place from above. Alternatively, your High Self can also do this for you if you ask them to do an energy washdown for the space.
Set protective shields by imagining your place surrounded by layers of energy. You can utilize any energy that you feel affiliated to. Just trust your instinct and feel free to be creative.
Set a scrubbing shield to scrub away negative energy on people and objects as they enter the space.
(Optional) Ask the Universe or your High Self to set up an angel committee to protect your place.
Except the herbal smudging part of step 3, in principle, your High Self can help you carry out all the above steps: all you need is to ask them for help, then tell them the steps.
However, despite all the above methods, if someone in your environment has horrible energy, the energy of your place can still suffer. In that scenario, it can only be fixed when the energy of that person improves.
D5. Cleanse your aura
In principle, cleansing your aura is similar to cleansing a personal item (your aura is one of your most important personal items!). Therefore, the tips on how to cleanse your items, mentioned in “D2. Throw away or cleanse energetically dirty items”, also apply here.
For example, you can cleanse your aura by smudging: light a stick made of herbs, such as juniper, rosemary, sage or thyme, and let the smoke move past various parts of your skin from head to toe, but please be careful with the fire.
In addition to smudging, there is another technique that involves the use of fire: stepping across a container with fire burning inside. This practice originated in ancient China. Nowadays, it is even performed in countries outside of China but deeply influenced by Chinese culture. It is commonly used to clear negative energy after visiting energetically heavy places (e.g. a hospital or a prison) or attending a funeral. The fire does not need to be large, and you can use any fireproof container, such as a ceramic or metal pot. Please be careful with the fire when you step across it, and watch out for your clothes.
Besides fire, you can also cleanse your aura with water. If you live close to a natural source of water, such as a river, a waterfall or a beach, you can cleanse your aura by going for a swim there.
However, if you live far from these places, you can simply take a shower while imagining white light washing over you, as if you were standing beneath a waterfall. It works perfectly too!
As a side note, when you wash your body, be sure to wash your forehead and the areas behind your ears with soap or a gentle cleanser. Nearly every time I do this, I can feel negative energy being washed away, and my surroundings instantly look brighter—a clear sign that my energy has improved. This suggestion comes partly from my own experience and partly from some Italian grannies. The Italians have centuries-long traditions practicing folk healing, so their advice carries weight (😉).
D6. Return any energy from others that you’ve absorbed and take your energy back
In the spiritual book The Art of Dreaming, author Carlos Castaneda mentions a technique given to him by his Yaqui shaman teacher Don Juan Matus that allowed him to return all the energy he had absorbed from others and get his own energy back from them. It involves moving our heads slowly and breathing regularly while recalling our past interactions with them. When we turn our heads from right to left, we breathe out, releasing their energy from us. When we turn our heads from left to right, we breathe in, reclaiming our energy from them.
I have tested this technique, and it works. Give it a try, especially if you want to release some negative energy you have received from other people but find it difficult to let go of.
D7. Release obsolete vows, promises, and curses
(1) Vows and promises
Vows and promises can limit us and bring unwanted consequences into our lives. A good example is the vow of abstinence and poverty for those who have past lives as monks and nuns, which can cause disruptions in manifesting a fulfilling love life and material abundance.
Another example is the marriage vow: it is important to include “till death do us part” in the vow; otherwise, in future lives, the vow may continue to bind the individual with their married partner from this life, potentially preventing them from entering into union with another soul.
One more example is the promise to “resolve whatever issues a loved one has”, which means that whatever troubles the loved one encounters—from financial crises to spiritual or energetic attacks—the person making this promise may be obliged to carry that burden.
In general, it is better to avoid making promises, and instead state your intentions. For example, when you agree to perform certain tasks for someone, refrain from saying “I promise...” or “I swear...”, and use “I will...” instead.
(2) Curses
Curses can chain the person who curses and the person who is cursed together, and have perpetual effects across lifetimes. A person can be cursed by someone else or themselves. Furthermore, a curse can form when someone believes they are cursed by something or someone, such as life or God, even when that force has never intended to curse that individual. Curses can also be passed down through generations within a family.
Please note that repetitive, intense thoughts can become beliefs. A belief, when strong enough, holds the same power as a vow or a curse. The two become indistinguishable.
(3) How to revoke
Vows, promises and curses can be released if you proclaim to the Universe your wish to revoke them. An excellent example of how to do it comes from the book Angel Inspiration: Together, Humans and Angels Have the Power to Change the World written by Diana Cooper. The passage is as follows:
Preamble to decree
I forgive all those who have ever hurt, harmed or cursed me, known and unknown, as I ask for forgiveness of those whom I have hurt, harmed or cursed, known and unknown.
I invoke the Law of Forgiveness, under Grace, for all situations, conditions and events in my life and all past lives.
Invocation
I now invoke Lord Kumeka, Chohan of the eighth ray, Vywamus, Djwal Khul and the mighty Archangel Michael to release outdated vows.
Decree
In the name of God and all that is light, under the Law of Grace, I now decree that all vows, curses, pacts, dedications and implants made by me or to me are rescinded and transmuted, whether in this life or another, in all parallel lives and Universes, in all my bodies. I command that the angels who administer these vows release their duties forthwith. I AM totally free.
However, if the above passage includes too many unfamiliar gods and masters, thus you do not feel 100% comfortable using it, you can try this simpler one that I have come up with:
I revoke any and all vows [please replace “vows” here with “curses” if your goal is to release curses] connected to [the issue that you have in mind]. All the energy tying me to [this issue] and to any individual because of [this issue] is released. I decree that from now and henceforth I am free from [this issue]. I choose to stay open to daily guidance and decisions that are for my highest good here and now! I praise the Universal Source.
Here, I must acknowledge that I constructed the above based on the vow-revoking statement created by Robert E. Detzler, the channeler of a spiritual healing system called Spiritual Response Therapy, which I will briefly introduce soon.
D8. Other miscellaneous spiritual methods
Lastly, below are some of the other existing methods to clear negative energy within you, as well as energy from others. However, please note that method (6) requires training, while method (5) requires a hypnotherapist.
(1) Energy symbols
You can use energy symbols to transmute or destroy negative energy. Below are a couple of examples from the Korktic symbols that I channeled in 2014-2015. I use the first symbol to transmute energy by mentally placing it over the affected area, and the second symbol to destroy energy by mentally drawing it (the spiral must be drawn counterclockwise; the number of turns in the spiral does not matter) over the relevant region.
(2) Hand gestures
Hand gestures can be used to release negative energy. One gesture that I regularly use is the “sign of the horns” gesture, traditionally used to remove the evil eye in Southern Italian culture. When I perform it, I shake my hand while pointing the horns downward, and I find it effective in clearing out negative energy in general. For those who are familiar with mudras, this gesture is similar to the Apana Mudra in yoga and Karana Mudra in Buddhism. However, I must confess that mudras are not my area of expertise. If I have made any errors here, please let me know in the comment section.
(3) Help from angels, gods or deities
If you are particularly close to certain angels or devoted to specific gods or deities, you can ask them to rid you of negative energy. For instance, Archangel Michael can free you from such energy, and Archangel Raphael can heal you. I have personally sought their help and have benefited from it.
(4) Meditation
If you are good at meditation, you can use it to recall problematic past lives. Then, you can either release the negative energy and emotions connected to them, or shift the trajectories of those past lives. While the last method may sound unconventional to you, it is based on the idea that our souls are timeless, with all our past lives being concurrent and continuing to evolve. Hence, events that happened in past lives can be altered and create ripple effects in your current life.
(5) Past life regression through hypnotherapy
You can have a session with a hypnotherapist to recall past lives, then ask your soul to resolve the conflicts and let go of the intense emotions from those past lives. The principle behind why this method works is similar to that mentioned in (4) Meditation.
(6) Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT)
SRT is an effective spiritual healing system for discovering and releasing negative energetic blockages, limiting beliefs, soul programs, curses and vows, from both the current life and past lives. This system requires the practitioner to work with High Self, who has access to the soul plan and the Akashic past life records, to help locate the root causes of the issues then release their energy.
Originally developed as a psychological treatment approach called Response Therapy, the system later evolved into Spiritual Response Therapy when Unity minister Rev. Robert E. Detzler discovered that adding spiritual aspects made it even more powerful. This is the technique I have been using since 2012, and the one I use the most among all the spiritual methods.
Outro
Dear readers, you have finally reached the end of this long blog post. 😍 The above are the techniques you can use to free yourself from negative energy. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to write to me. I will try to answer your questions as best I can.
When I feel the urge to talk with my friends about the bad behavior of people I've encountered, I first ask myself this question:
Am I seeking advice from my friends on how to deal with the situation, or do I just want to gossip or rant about how badly those people behaved?
If it is the first reason, I allow myself to talk about it.
If it is the second reason, I try to stop myself from doing it because:
~ It doesn't improve the situation.
~ By ranting, I may be putting more energy into attracting similar negative incidents in the future.
~ Time is my most valuable resource, so why waste it talking about nasty people and behavior when I could use it for something meaningful, beautiful, or joyful?
Although I’ve known for a long time that negative energy can attract negative people into our lives so that we can free ourselves from that energy, I recently have a really strong feeling that the people who are a bit mean to me may actually be doing me a service. 🤔
Background: Even though I'm approaching 40, I've a young-looking face that makes a lot of people think I'm still in my early-20s. Plus, I work as a spiritual healer, which many people don't take seriously as a profession. Those two things combined result in some people speaking to me in a mean or condescending way. Maybe they're thinking, "This young person is doing some stupid 💩!"
Their actions definitely bothered me a bit, but afterward I could always find some negative energies within myself. Perhaps those energies drew such people into my life, and now I have a chance to clear them away and move forward in life. Without those people acting mean toward me, I might never have discovered them.
You can take actions to change the tendencies indicated in your astrology chart.
For example, my chart totally says that it is really hard for me to stop my mind from thinking. It's true that even when I was only 3 or 4, I already tried to quiet my mind, especially when it was flashing a lot of scary thoughts and scenes, but I failed. However, I started meditating and practicing spiritual healing in my 20s, and these days I can quiet my mind easily.
There are definitely actions you can take to transform what is shown in your chart.
