Cuddle Pile
Just a soft little scene today. @loveceit I’m going to miss these after tomorrow. These prompts have been fun to do a second time around.
/\/\/\/\/\
Janus had been listening to the rain hitting the roof all morning. The only thing he’d needed to help Thomas with was not constantly apologising for calling the picnic he’d planned with his friends off and after that he could curl into his bed and just listen.
It was almost a meditative state, only increased when Logan joined him after a while, sitting beside him and beginning to read aloud his book about weather systems.
When they first heard thunder became the prompt for Virgil to bounce into the room. “It’s a thunder storm guys! Can I open your curtains to watch it? You always get the best views of lightning, Janus.” He asked, already moving to do so. At least now he’d ask when before they got accepted Virgil just took permission for granted during storms.
“Only if I get some cuddles too. Logan’s telling us about what causes thunderstorms currently.” He smiled at the energy this weather gave Virgil. It was hard to feel anxious about the nuances of society when nobody was likely to leave the house during a storm.
Loan had almost finished the chapter of his book before Roman arrived, looking a little like a drowned rat. “Can we check the weather forecast before I decide to go on quests next time?” He groused, drying off with a click of his fingers and a hair flip. Once Roman was in comfier clothes he glanced back to the trio on the bed. “Is there room for me to join your cuddles?”
“Always, come here Princey.” Janus held out their arms, wrapping them around Roman as soon as he was close enough.
Perhaps the weather was frightful but it was also very relaxing to listen to and watch.
Dry Scales
I’m like fairly sure I’m repeating the idea I used when I wrote this prompt in December. like 90% sure just different relationships and stuff included. @loveceit gave the prompts
/\/\/\/\/\/\
“I don’t care whatever date is going on, I’ve got mudpacks and you’re going to use them!” The door splintering as Deceit was curled around Virgil with Logan and Roman bracketing them together for a nap was definitely not his preferred way to wake up, but he’d cope with it for a moment.
Remus’s morning star completely shattering the door a second later did had him sigh as Virgil stirred finally. Logan and Roman were already staring incredulously at the door. “Is it time for that already?” He mumbled, one hand reaching to scratch gently at Janus’s scales after he took in the various products in Remus’s arms. “Definitely, guys, let him over. Looks like nap-time is going to be a spa afternoon instead.”
The scratching was enough of an explanation for Deceit too since he’d forgotten when his next shed was due with everything happening around them. There was no denying the loose dry scales being nudged close to falling as Anxiety rubbed them. “What mudpacks do I get today?” He asked, managing to sit up though Virgil remained resting in his lap.
“Anybody care to explain just why I should move? He literally just destroyed your door?” Roman was still on edge, appearing two seconds from summoning his swords. He looked a little like a startled cat since his hair was standing up in a mess from their nap still.
“Cause our serpentine solicitor is due to shed soon and needs a skin care routine better than you’ve ever achieved to keep him wonderful. Now move, or I’ll knock you out so you can’t get in the way.” Remus explained, already trying to shove his way onto the bed, while handing a couple of scrubs over to Virgil.
Anxiety was snickering a little at their words, already smearing a salt rub over a soft cloth. It would get the dead skin off before the moisturiser was chosen. “It’s self care time, Ro. Just let him teach you a few tricks to relax.”
“He literally eats deodorant?” The gesture was affronted even as Roman moved backwards to make space.
“The stuff he uses irritates Janus’s skin so he tried eating it instead. We just haven’t worked out how to stop it yet. Or apparently how to get him back to more normal scents again.” The wrinkled nose only got a wink from Remus, now focusing on separating his various skin care products into pile.
The organisation finally had Logan speaking instead of just blearily watching what was happening. “Are all of those really needed for Janus? I know some people have special oils for pet snakes but I didn’t think you’d need to go this extreme.”
That got everyone checking over what had been brought before Remus began cackling. “Of course it’s not just for Dee-dee. We all have a spa afternoon when helping with this. You’ve got lavender and chamomile products that Virgie loves, I get Cinnamon, Pepper and Sage for the burning sensation and Janus has honey and lemon, our sweet and sour snake. The rest was just shit I thought you or Roman could use if you were around. I’m not gonna push Jay’s boyfriends out unless he says so, or Roman wants to battle instead. I’m flexible like that.”
Janus didn’t feel like speaking at all as his listened to chaos erupt around him that could only happen if Remus was being deliberately contrary to the other sides. It was soothing enough to feel Anxiety’s careful touch, teasing away dead skin or scales that were being shed and gentling any pain with soft touches.
He noticed at least when sharpened nails joined in, brushing through his hair to help with where it met the scales. Virgil was always tentative about that point so Remus had taken over for it. That meant Creativity and Logic had either accepted the spa afternoon and were looking through what had been brought or left, hopefully the former.
“How do I use a face mask properly? Do I need to clean my face first?” Logan quietly asked, Virgil’s hand soon disappearing as he went to help.
Janus blinked his eyes open to see a few of the head bands anxiety had from concerts he’d seen split between everyone else in the room and some skin care products in front of all of them. “You usually tell me without destroying my door.” He murmured, too relaxed to get annoyed.
“More fun this way. I wanted to see if I could start a fight but apparently not.” Remus snickered, glancing over at his brother. The two Creativities were getting along better but still enjoyed arguing as a way to break the tension that sometimes formed in the mindspace.
“You’re still replacing it later.” He insisted though.
Gift Exchange
for saying this was a prompt I’ve had an idea for for weeks it’s been a struggle getting my brain to write it, or find ways to skip the bits that words just didn’t want to work for. I still love it though.
@loveceit created the promptlist
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Janus had never put much thought into the times society thought you should give out presents to other people. Today he was excited though, because it held no significance that anyone could recognise, not even as an anniversary but they were going to do a gift exchange between him and his boyfriends and he’d gotten the perfect gifts for all of them.
He was smiling as the last one was wrapped before fetching a bag the 3 presents could fit in to take them off to Roman’s favourite castle.
Logan and Virgil were already there when he arrived though there was no sign of Roman except the presence of three present piles instead of just the two. “So are we relaxing before sharing our gifts so Roman can have a big entrance then?” Janus asked, taking one of the free armchairs near the fireplace the pair was sat next to.
“Nay, fair serpent! I am here and the gift giving shall commence!” Roman announced, marching in with a cocky grin, and another box in his hands. “Might Sir Logan do the honours of dispensing his parcels first?”
Everyone blinked, realising that they would have to go along with whatever nobility titles Roman assigned them for a peaceful afternoon before Logan shook his head. “Of course.”
As much as Janus wanted to enjoy every minute of their afternoon exchanging gifts his focus remained split between anticipation for giving his own gifts out and watching the wonderful ways his boyfriends reacted to what they received from each other.
Logan had elected to give each of them books specific to their interests, so Roman got an analysis of the history of Disney and how it’s films have evolved over time, both in content and the ways they are produced, Virgil received a book titled ‘It’s okay to not be okay’ that appeared to cover ways to manage stress and anxiety and Janus was given a book about psychology and self-care.
Virgil had been the next to give out his presents, beaded bracelets that he’d made, weaving wool together. Each of them had added motifs surrounding what each of the others represented or used to present themselves. There was a bit of a struggle in tying them on but helping each other resolved that easily.
It appeared for a moment then that Janus would be asked to give his present out so Roman could go last but instead Creativity was moving the largest box to sit between him and Virgil while the three boxes that had been piled in his spot before he arrived were also handed out. The individual gifts were snow-globes holding important memories between Roman and the intended giftee: Logan’s held clips from their Crofter’s video, Virgil’s had snippets from a number of memories they’d had away from Thomas but also a few moments from Accepting Anxiety and the Dark Side of Disney. Janus was fascinated to find that nothing from the videos was included in his snow-globe, only moments they’d shared in the mind space, especially since they started dating.
Virgil and Janus worked together to open the larger gift, each holding back a few snickers at how extra their Prince seemed to be acting. The gift held 3 weighted blankets in a swirling pattern of each of their colours. When the edges of the blankets got squeezed while bringing them out of the box a soft lullaby being sung by Roman started to play. They ended up just cuddling into the blankets for a few moments until the song finished and everyone looked to Deceit in curiousity.
Biting his lip to hide the grin as he handed out the 3 boxes Janus hoped they’d like the gifts, afterall, they might never have gotten together if it wasn’t for their fascination with-
“A bowler hat! My love, we can be a perfect pair now!” Roman cried in delight, already wearing it as Virgil and Logan also pulled out their own hats. It only took a moment for Virgil to begin snickering although they did all wear the hats as well.
“Should I put fairy lights around mine to get your attention instead of stealing your now?” He asked, “Or are you wanting us to become a barbershop quartet or something?”
Janus shook his head. “Just wear it. I’ll know what you want.”
“Is this an appropriate hat to wear with my usual outfit?” Logan queried, glancing to one of the wall length mirrors Roman kept around the palace.
“I can assure you it matches wonderfully, Starlight.”
Decoration Mishap
anyone know what you decorate for in spring/summer? I decided just for a date, but I’m curious if there are any actual celebrations this could be for.
@loveceit made the prompts
/\/\/\/\/\/\
Deceit was going to have a date with all of his boyfriends. He’d decided upon it, and made sure everyone knew when to come to his room that evening. Now all he needed to resolve was the decorations.
There wasn’t really a need for decorations, unless you asked either Creativity who of course had a hundred reasons to decorate on any given day, but Janus thought it would be nice. he could make the room feel softer, with fairy lights and blankets hung to make tents near the edges of the room. Perhaps he could even get a small table and a lot of cushions to replace his bed for a while so they could eat and just catch up with each other.
He’d already suggested that they spend the evening sharing stories and information they’ve learnt just relaxing with no large expectations. Deceit had gotten a few other things they could work on either alone or together over the evening.
Having a sketchbook for Roman to doodle in though did not stop the blankets he was trying to suspend from continually falling, even with his extra arms working to hold them up until they were secure.
Only one had been successfully put up before there was a knock on his door, a little earlier than he’d requested but that had been expected of either Virgil or Roman.
“Normally it’s best to attach ropes under the ceiling and then position the blankets over them.” Virgil commented, frowning at the tangle of blankets and pins Deceit currently was.
“That doesn’t look pretty though.” Janus managed to shake his head free to pout over at him, before turning to try again.
He didn’t get much of a choice about trying something different when that attempt ended with a dropped pin narrowly missing his eye as it fell. “Let’s try it anyway. You could use some golden yellow rope to hang them even.” Virgil insisted, taking the pins away and waiting for the rope he suggested to be summoned.
“Golden rope for my loves. Is there creating going on without me?” Roman raised an eyebrow at the scene around him, before beaming a little. “You’re decorating for our date?!”
“Yes, Sundrop, but I can get the blanket tents to work and look pretty. Can you help us?” Janus let his shoulder drop a little, accepting that he wasn’t going to manage it on his own this time.
His boyfriends silently shared a glance, between each other and the one completed tent. “It would be our pleasure. If this is your desired end result then I’m certain we can achieve the perfect balance.” Roman nodded, bowing before taking one end of the rope from Virgil.
“Are you wanting to do four so we have one each, or more than that?” Virgil double checked, watching as Roman attached the rope under the hanging completed tent before going to the opposite side of the room to attach his end to the wall.
“Four tents. Can I put the blankets up so they hang properly?” Deceit explain, already picking the blanket up again and a few extra pins to secure it.
Even as he received nods and smiles in response Logan stuck his head around the doorway. “Am I late? I thought you said the date would start at 7pm.” He asked, taking in Roman and Virgil’s presence.
According to Deceit’s clock it was still only 5 to 7 but he just shrugged. “I was having issues with some of the decorations I wanted to put up and these two arrived early. You’re fine on time.”
“Okay then. I’ll just be a moment as I need to drop my planners back into my room.” He nodded, letting the trio carry on assembling their blanket tents with smiles to each other.
Lit Candles
recentering on the hat, if in doubt I’m going back to the bowler. @loveceit did the prompts
/\/\/\/\/\
Sure, Deceit had wanted answers and to know just what relationship his hat thieves wanted with him and now he’d gotten them, but he’d still gone through a rather emotions heavy week finding it all out. So he was taking a break.
Roman and Virgil still hadn’t returned from the imagination after Logan tried clarifying all the relationships among them and Logan was helping Thomas with something regarding the channel. That left Deceit at least an hour or two to just relax.
With how low his emotional energy felt he was tempted to curl up and have a nap but one of his candles caught his attention first. There had been quite a few times where Thomas had tried meditating, alone or with his friends and now Deceit thought that just might be a way to wind down after the week.
He didn’t do anything special in particular, merely lighting the candle and watching the flame while slowing his breathing. After a while all his focus was taken over by the candle, mesmerised by the flickers in the flame from his breathing or the occasional breeze that got under his door.
It was healing to sit in the quiet like that, stilling the thoughts that span over how Thomas could look after himself or the ways his role was used by their human. He didn’t need to worry about the other sides, or anything aside from relaxing and watching the flame.
A couple of hours had passed when Deceit blinked out of his meditation, mostly because the tealight candle he’d lit had gone out.
He’d registered at some point in the mediation that someone had opened the door to his room, probably to check on him but left without speaking. The main thing that reminded Deceit of that was that his hat was now missing when he’d definitely been wearing it when beginning the meditation.
With a sigh he sank into Roman’s room where he guessed the hat would be.
“Dee! Come cuddle with us! We’re watching Moana.” Roman called excitedly. He was already curled up on his bed with Logan and Virgil either side of him, smiling as well.
Moana looked to be at the point where she finally left the island so Deceit’s hat must have been taken a while before. “Sure, how can I refuse.” He rolled his eyes, easily slotting between Logan and Roman on the bed.
💗 anaroloceit?
Hope it's okay that Virgil and Roman are just friends.
They all got to know each other because they joined the local production of Les Misérables. Roman got cast as Marius, Dee got cast as Enjolras, Virgil did tech, and Logan was the stage manager.
Dee teased Roman a lot for playing Marius, because Dee has read the book and Marius at one point stands with his head pressed against a tree for two hours because he didn't have money to go with Cosette to England. Okay so a lot of the teasing is based on who Roman is cast as, and not Roman himself.
Roman skims through the book for all parts with Enjolras wanting to tease Dee in return but uh. "Enjolras was a charming young man, who was capable of being terrible. He was angelically handsome. He was a savage Antinous."
Roman definitely attempts to tease Dee for playing Enjolras but he keeps flirting instead.
Logan has to take them aside after one rehearsal because a) Marius is supposed to be in love with Cosette, and b) if Enjolras had chemistry with anyone then it was Grantaire, so c) please stop turning the musical into bad fanfiction.
Dee immediately jumps on the chance of in-depth discussions of the source material with Logan. They get coffee after rehearsals a lot.
Virgil doesn't leave the techbooth a lot but then during one rehearsal he has to stand in as both Cosette and Grantaire because their actors are sick. Shouldn't they have understudies? Can no one else step in? No?
Virgil is an absolutely awful Cosette. He and Roman doesn't work together at all, and Cosette is a soprano role. Virgil is not a soprano.
Virgil does make a pretty good Grantaire though. He definitely has the attitude, and his voice fits the role much better. Plus, he and Dee actually play well off each other.
So what ends up happening is that Dee and Roman built their friendship on teasing and flirting, Dee and Logan bonded over the source material, and Dee and Virgil take friendly barbs at each other. Roman feels a bit forgotten because he was Dee's friend first. He doesn't have time to actually read the book but he watches some of the different movie adaptations + the anime adaptation, so he can at least join Dee and Logan in one discussion. And after Roman starts getting coffee with them, they start talking about more and actually get to know each other outside their thoughts on Les Mis.
Logan and Virgil are on friendly terms already, being the stage manager and one of the tech people. So once Roman becomes part of the after rehearsal coffee group, Logan invites Virgil. Dee is happy that Virgil is there, Roman less so.
Anyway so after-rehearsal-coffee turns into after-performance-drinks and then they start meeting up just because. Roman has always been very physically affectionate, and Dee is physically affectionate too if less than Roman, but he's also the one to bring them things that made him think of them (like a book for Logan, recommending a band to Virgil, sending Roman a picture of a jacket). Logan and Virgil are rarely affectionate in public, but they'll make time and like just being in the same room as the others.
Logan ends up asking for clarification on their relationship after a while. Dee confesses to being interested in all of them, Logan says he feels the same. Roman and Virgil take a long look at each other and mutually agrees that they might be friends, but they wouldn't work as anything more. Both of them like Dee and Logan tho, and they're okay with sharing boyfriends.
Virgil ends up kissing Dee and Logan before Roman does it, because Roman was overthinking how romantic their first kisses should be. They playfight about it until Logan and Dee shut them up with kisses.
