Nielan have been on my mind all day and it got me thinking - in the untamed we only see xichen wearing his god-tier nie-inspired dark blue robes during the empathy flashbacks right? We never see him wearing them any other time. So what if, since the empathy scenes are essentially from nie mingjue's pov, we see him in those robes because that's how mingjue remembers xichen? Maybe he never actually wore them in public (the silver nie-like over-robe was as daring as he got with that), but since mingjue remembers him like that, that's how we see him during empathy.

Idk I just think it's kinda telling that the only two outfits we see xichen wearing between the end of the sunshot campaign and mingjue's death/disappearance are both nie-inspired, and we don't see him wearing either of them after mingjue dies

IIRC, Lan Xichen used to like dressing up in fancy robes, but we only see him in plain robes during the present timeline. There's a lot more white in them after NMJ dies, and the robes he wears to the discussion conference are more informal than LWJ's post-revival clothes (which were simpler when he was young) and his own casual wardrobe prior to Nie Mingjue's death. The discussion conference robe seems like his personal version of wearing mourning, in my very humble opinion. 😭

I’m listening to the BBC radio play adaptation of Lord of the Rings, and I love the way Denethor reads the lines: “(Sauron) will not come save to triumph over me when all is won. Like-- the way he begins by speaking with CERTAINTY, but then grows gradually less sure of himself as he goes on, saying the lines “spending even my sons” in this quiet, guilt-ridden voice....

i think it was mostly snarking about both chris and tom being nobodies. now marvel has shown that they have a knack for hitting the spot with less known actors and it sucks they reverted to casting unsuitable populars.

not really because chris and tom were really unknown and thor was the second hero to be introduced behind iron man movies, the mcu fandom was very young and scare amount of fans were around but were open to them if i remember correctly
